any of you guys into Menace Ruine? I discovered them a few weeks back, have been playing their three full lengths, all of which range from harsh noise, black metal and drone. really good stuff, particularly The Die is Cast, which sheds the black metal and noise and focuses more on drone, with awesome female vox

Meatplow 11-12-2009 06:52 AM

I can't say i've ever heard of them, I will check them out though

rasputin 11-12-2009 06:53 AM

im about to post all three of their albums on my blog (well, in a few minutes), if it makes it any easier for you. a simple search will turn up their albums though.

Meatplow 11-12-2009 06:56 AM

excellent

I added Slays For Days as a follower from mine so i'll jump on top of that

rasputin 11-12-2009 07:00 AM

oh nice, i didnt know you had a blog. what is it?

Meatplow 11-12-2009 07:00 AM

I made it a couple of days ago

rasputin 11-12-2009 07:05 AM

excellent. i always mean to explore all the stuff you find, but i never find the time on top of all the other stuff i listen to plus normal life. now that semester is over i'll have more time though.

looking at yours now, looks awesome. i'm always in awe of blogs which provide such lengthy and detailed write-ups, it's not as easy to maintain as some might think. linking it to S4d now.

Meatplow 11-12-2009 07:07 AM

Cheers, it's mainly stuff i've reviewed on here previously.

<3

The Die is Cast is really good, I love how watered one the production is on that one! I also have Cult of Ruins, didn't know they had another full length though.

I love their artwork so much.

Haz: Your blog is shaping quite nicely, I don't have most of the albums you are uploading so I have a lot of work there. :D

FatalEnergy 11-13-2009 02:52 AM

Anyone enjoy Les Joyaux de la Princesse?

Meatplow 11-13-2009 03:11 AM

i've only heard the Östenbräun split with Death In June, I don't remember being all that fond of it. I should listen to it again.

Cheers, I always have it my mind that you've heard it all for some reason ><

FatalEnergy 11-13-2009 03:12 AM

Yeah, that one is actually kind of average.

What I've heard of their other stuff I've really liked though.

Meatplow 11-13-2009 03:16 AM

okay. what release should I look into?

I have a few albums you have suggested I have to get to actually

FatalEnergy 11-13-2009 03:25 AM

I really like Aux Volontaires Croix de Sang.

It's newer too. From 2007 I believe. I'm still trying to check more of them out myself.

Txus 11-13-2009 08:40 AM

I love their work with Blood Axis, but that's about the only thing I have from them.
Cheers, I always have it my mind that you've heard it all for some reason ><
Nah, haha, not even close man. For some reason you guys talk about the things I've heard A LOT in this forum so yeah...actually of the things you listen to I haven't heard probably 70%

Meatplow 11-13-2009 09:53 AM

haha ok man

Moon Flavor 11-14-2009 04:06 AM

meatplow what is Current 93 and Foetus and recommend me some other ****. Keep in mind I never really listen to noise

Meatplow 11-14-2009 04:19 AM

current 93 is neofolk, foetus is unexplainable in a few words and idk, lemme see. here is a notepad file I had saved of a shortlist of some my essential albums.

Some industrial-metal, coldwave etc.

KMFDM - everything from Naive to Symbols, at least get Nihil
Skinny Puppy - Too Dark Park
Godflesh - Streetcleaner, Pure
Flesh Field - Strain
Acumen Nation - Psycho The Rapist
Numb - Wasted Sky, Blood Meridian

branching out into stranger territories, some first wave, and cross-genre stuff -

Foetus - Hole, Nail, Thaw, then branch out from there
Throbbing Gristle - 20 Jazz Funk Greats, The Second Annual Report
Cabaret Voltaire - Mix-Up, The Voice of America
Clock DVA - Buried Dreams
Front 242 - Front By Front
Laibach - Opus Dei
Einstürzende Neubauten - Kollaps, 1/2 Mensch (sometimes called Halber Mensch)
Chrome - Half Machine Lip Moves
88MM - Motions of the Spinning Black Sun
Chris and Cosey - Heartbeat
Die Krupps - Volle Kraft Voraus

getting into noise a bit -

Boyd Rice & Frank Tovey - Easy Listening For The Hard of Hearing
SPK - Information Overload Unit, Leichenschrei
Prurient - Shipwrecker's Diary, Black Vase
Brethren - Savage Inequalities
Whitehouse - Great White Death
Genocide Organ - Leichenlinie
Brighter Death Now - Obsessis, Innerwar

Thanks you! Is neofolk like Rome? I heard a song of theirs and it bored me to anal so I think I might stay away from that.

What Foetus should I start off on? edit: nevermind on this one lol

I know I don't really like KMFDM or Godflesh so I think I'll stick away from the industrial for now.

So I guess I'll look into the weird/noise stuff then! Can you recommend me just a couple from those bottom 2 categories to start off on? Preferably something not too ambient/mellow/slow if you catch my drift?

Meatplow 11-14-2009 05:00 AM

Front 242, Throbbing Gristle, Laibach, Einstürzende Neubauten, Chris and Cosey, SPK and Brethren I guess. It should cover a fair cross section of subgenres some of which will be ambient and slow but not entirely.

I haven't heard Rome before. They are european neofolk though idk if it makes a big difference from the british scene.

Pure poetry.

Meatplow 11-14-2009 05:12 AM

FatalEnergy, have you heard Ben Frost's Theory of Machines?

You would probably like this one as well Mike if you haven't heard it already

FatalEnergy 11-14-2009 05:16 AM

Nope, I'll look it up it.

What's it like?
