Yo Mike, can you suggest a Mclusky album?
Oh god, idk haha

Probably start with Mclusky Do Dallas which has one of the best songs ever written and it's the album I listen to the most, but My Pain and Sadness Is More Sad and Painful Than Yours is so ****ing crazy and good and The Difference Between Me And You Is That I'm Not On Fire is the one I've heard the least but it's also pretty good, so I would suggest you to get the discography (or those 3 albums which was all they released).

Six Foot Revolver 10-09-2009 08:28 AM

you listened to that future of the left yet?

Txus 10-09-2009 08:38 AM

I got Travels With Myself And Another lined up in my playlist for today :D

Ventriloquist 10-09-2009 08:26 PM

So I'm going to this Propagandhi+Protest+Strike Anywhere gig but have absolutely no clue about Strike Anywhere. Which album should I start with? Or should I start at all?

Strike Anywhere is alright but they've also been releasing essentially the same album for the last 15 years. Just find whichever one looks the most popular and grab it. But you arent missing much if you don't, it's just straight-forward politipunk, kind of like a less juvenile, more aggressive Anti-Flag or a thrash-less Propagandhi.

Ventriloquist 10-10-2009 05:06 AM

Ah OK, I'll just get the one with the highest rating on RYM. Thanks.

charlesfishowitz 10-10-2009 08:30 AM

RetiredAt21 10-10-2009 10:15 AM

Tyler 10-10-2009 06:54 PM

I remember liking Bluutar

Either that or thinking they were awful. Oddly enough, i can't remember.

RetiredAt21 10-10-2009 07:53 PM

Never heard. What're they like?

Tyler 10-10-2009 07:53 PM

Sloppier Darkthrone I guess. It's been a while.

RetiredAt21 10-10-2009 07:56 PM

Meh, I'm sick of Darkthrone clones.

Get Change Is A Sound and To Live In Discontent.

Iron Front is solid as well.

Ventriloquist 10-11-2009 02:14 PM

Can anyone recommend me an instrumental post-rock band with west/blues feel. Sort of like Human Bell or Earth's Hex. Would be better if it has electric guitars instead of acoustic. Thanks.

Txus 10-11-2009 03:36 PM

Bark Psychosis
Gastr del Sol

Can't think of anything else, except Grails but I know you're already into them.

Ventriloquist 10-11-2009 03:52 PM

Cool man I'll check those out.

Nepenthe 10-11-2009 04:20 PM

these dont have that same exact sound as earth and human bell, but theyve got the western feel and i know youll enjoy them both.

brightblack morning light
across tundras

also, cobalts new album has a very old west feel to it. its a bit different, but its got that same feeling.

alternatively, you could read cormac mccarthy's blood meridian haha. its pretty much earth and human bell in word form.

Txus 10-11-2009 04:37 PM

Second best McCarthy's book, imo.

Never heard Brightback Morning Light.

Nepenthe 10-11-2009 04:48 PM

2 latest albums are both worth checking out. its like, slightly psychedelic folk ambient haha. its got that old west feel to it. its brightblack morning light too, my bad.

im honestly thinkin blood meridian is my favorite mccarthy. not quite done with it yet. ive got child of god waiting on my shelf for after and if what my friend has been telling me is true it might become my new fave.

Txus 10-11-2009 05:09 PM

Child of God is my favorite Mccarthy book, yep. Borders Triology ****ing rule too, the three books are so good.

And I will check that band.

Will check these out too and the book once I finish what I'm reading now. Gotta put these recs in a notepad file, lot more than I expected!

Nepenthe 10-11-2009 05:49 PM

i didnt even realize that earth has taken several lines from blood meridian and used them as song titles. tethered to the pole star is the first one that i noticed. after reading it you realize that it was a HUGE influence on them, the hex album in particular.
