Six Foot Revolver 03-26-2005 07:45 AM
I gonna get some albums but i dont know what to get, i like rock, metal and punk but nothing really heavy like slipknot, slayer, etc. What shall i get ?
Right so you like metal but Slipknot and slayer are too heavy for you?

munky_magik 03-26-2005 07:45 AM

Try some (earlier) stuff by Metallica and Megadeth. They're heavy, but not that heavy. For some rock stuff try Extreme, Aerosmith, Guns N roses, Alice In Chains, Down, Audioslave, Rage Aainst The Machine (though the vocals for them are heavily rap influenced).

Metallica: Kill 'Em All, Ride The Lightning, Master of Puppets, Load, Re-Load
Megadeth: Cryptic Writings, Risk, Peace Sells...But who's buying?
Extreme: Extreme II:Pornografitti, Extreme I
Aerosmtih: Toys in the Attic
Guns N roses: Appetite for destruction, Use your illusions I + II
Alice in Chains: Dirt,
Down: Nola
Audioslave: Audioslave
RATM: Rage Against The Machine, Battle of L.A

I would like to buy something that's ****ed up like Tool...do you know something that can looks like it?

Bartender 03-26-2005 10:47 AM

earthtone 9
Miocene (on Refining the Theory)

^Both seem to be popular with (the very few) Tool fans who have heard them.

munky_magik 03-26-2005 10:50 AM

If you like the complex rhythms and time signature changes, you may like Meshuggah. I suggest you sample them before buying though.
You may also like Dream theater, who are a prog rock/metal band, with complex music and are extremely technical.
A perfect Circle are also an option. They're like Tool but less technical and have a softer sound, and also feature the same singer.
Randomly; You may also like Nine Inch Nails who are one of the most popular industrial bands.

Again, try sampling all of these bands before buying to see which ones you like/dislike.

It comes down to opinion of course, but my choices are;
Dream Theater: Scenes From a Memory, Awake
A Perfect Circle: Mer De Noms
Nine Inch Nails: The Fragile, The Downward Spiral
Meshuggah: I
Tool: Lateralus

MAthiAS 03-26-2005 04:01 PM

Might like Necrophagist, they use odd times.

Sonic Firestorm is better than Valley of the dam.ned. My Spirit Will go on is one of their best songs imo. I wrote a review of SF in Sputnik if you want to check it out. :)

For Megadeth, Rust In Peace and Peace Sells But Who's Buying are essential. I
f you like those then try So Far, So Good... So What! and Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good.

LeperAffinity 03-27-2005 08:38 AM

As slim as my chances are, I'm going to ask this. I want to know if there are any bands similar to Lykathea Aflame, both in brutality, vocals, and melody. And don't say Appalling Spawn, I'm aware of them.

That all depends on what you like Megadeth for, their Thrash, Metal, or Alternative sound.

Thrash sound: Killing is My Business....And Business is good, Rust In Peace, Peace Sells...But Who's buying? So Far, So Good,...So what?

Metal: The World Needs a Hero, The System has Failed

Alternative: Crytpic Writings, Risk

Ones in italics are their best from each era (in my opinion)
