GermFreeAdolescent 01-05-2006 09:32 PM

What DVD has the most Jello in it or just overall the best? I'm very interested in picking one up, I lack new things to deal with music.

Early Years Live or DMPOs on Broadways, since they are both shows, you'll get lots of Jello.

GermFreeAdolescent 01-06-2006 10:46 PM

Sweet, thanks man. I'll head off and pick those up soon :thumb:

I downloaded Napalm Death doing nazi punks its awful

sketchyjoe 01-07-2006 06:00 PM
There was three actually.

The Virus 100 tribute was a celebration of AT's 100th release, so they decided to tribute the band that created the label. This one has my favourite DK cover on it, NoMeansNo's cover of Forward to Death. It also has a really odd cover of Nazi Punks **** Off from Napalm Death and Sepultra's Drug Me

The other is called What We're We Fighting For. I'm not sure who put it out, but it does have an Anal squirrel version of Religious Vomit which is funny. Other than that it's a bland tribute.

The other is the strangest of all. It's called In Dub We Trust. It is a dub tribute to DK. But not the dub you associate with King Tubby, but a more electronica version. Some of the songs are really interesting and really well done.

And in other news, I ended up not getting anymore vinyl. The Tumor Circus one had 1 bid and the guy's maximum must've been over my limit, which was $10 on that release. And it ended up selling for $20.50.
The Dub one is the best. It got me into the fantastic Meg Lee Chin.

Mild_child 03-02-2006 08:51 PM

Was Do the Slag a Parody of The Special's Do the Dog?

Brain Toad 03-02-2006 09:12 PM

No.

Brain Toad 03-03-2006 12:59 AM

I hate when this thread dies, so I'm going to do something that may keep some interest.

DK Facts!

So here is some song related DK facts.

Most request song live: Rawhide. Nearly every bootleg I have has at least 1 person shouting for Rawhide to be played.

Songs that were played live but were never recorded in studio for release
Dreadlocks of the Suburbs (recorded as a demo and performed live)
Cold Fish (recorded as a demo)
Kepone Kids (recorded as a demo, different speed Kepone Factory)
Back in Rhodesia (early version of When Ya Get Drafted, only performed live)
Back in the USSR (Beatles cover)
Gaslight (performed live)
Have I The Right?
Jam I (Whole Lotta Bucks)
Jam II
Kidnap (demo only)
Mutations of Today (demo only)
Pull My Strings

Songs never performed live. This is going from the bootlegs I have, which is a lot and I'm pretty sure most if not all there is out there. (Majority from Bedtime for Democracy due the lack of touring after its release)
Anarchy for Sale
Buzzbomb From Pasadena
Cesspools in Eden
Chicken**** Conformist
DMSO

Humanoids From the Deep
Hyperactive Child

Songs paradied by DK
Whole Lotta Bucks (Whole Lotta Love)
Pull My Strings (My Sharona)
I Fought the Law (And I Won (I Fought the Law (And the Law Won)

So there is some random fact/statistics.

Henrik 03-03-2006 06:29 AM

I am quite a DK noob so my question is: Why is their most played live song only played 11 times? Didn't they play that many shows?

sketchyjoe 03-03-2006 07:07 AM

He's talking only about the bootlegs he has. It's wildly inaccurate in that sense.

Henrik 03-03-2006 09:40 AM

oh ok, thanks.

holy_roller99 03-03-2006 10:02 AM

just got Plastic Surgery Disasters that is coupled with the In God We trust Inc. ep. i prefered the greatest hits but it is a good album with We Gotta Bigger Problem Now which is a different version of California Uber Alles.

sketchyjoe 03-03-2006 10:09 AM

The best song on PSD is either Forest Fire, Riot or Moon Over Marin.

holy_roller99 03-03-2006 10:16 AM
The best song on PSD is either Forest Fire, Riot or Moon Over Marin.
nah i liek I am the Owl or winnebago Warrior. though Forest fire is pretty awesome.

sketchyjoe 03-03-2006 10:23 AM

Forest Fire has one of my favourite basslines ever. Riot is just about their greatest epic. Moon Over Marin is just sublime in every way.

I am the Owl and Bleed For Me tend to merge into one another for me.

Yeah the numbers are accurate, but you could probably safely say that song was played the most during shows.

Greatest Hits? You mean Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death? That is really more of a rare and unreleased rather than a greatest hits.

PSD is a great album, my second favorite full length from them. In God We Trust Inc is my favorite thing they ever recorded.

yeah, my friend picked up Give Me Convience or Give Me Death and i like it. we trade CD's once in a while so we listen to the same music. i liked it in all but the beginning fillers with that lady talking with a crappy jam in the background is what pisses me off.

sketchyjoe 03-03-2006 11:13 AM

DK played hundreds of shows. You're using a far too small spread for the survey, admittedly the best spread you're probably going to get, and it does give some indication of popular songs but it's by no means definitive.

If you took the numbers away from the most popular songs list it'd make more sense.

Henrik 03-03-2006 11:52 AM

Excatly my thoughts too.
Riot is just awesome. I only have PSD/IGWT. What should I get next?

sketchyjoe 03-03-2006 11:56 AM

Definitely Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables.

Mild_child 03-03-2006 01:45 PM

Terminal Preppie!

I heard a GOB cover of that.

Yeah, shouldn't've put the numbers, but they work for understanding out of my sample how much differences is between the songs.

And out of how many times Rawhide is requested, it is surprsingly low in my sample, only 4 plays. I think the band actually really hated the song, but the fans loved it for some reason. I don't like it.

You should've bought Fresh Fruit first :p

Henrik 03-04-2006 12:01 PM

Alright I will get it next time then. Thanks.

I actualy prefer Plastic Surgery Disasters to Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables.

Brain Toad 03-09-2006 10:00 PM

I'm not sure if I like either more, but I think anyone buying DK cds should go in order. It just makes sense to me to listen to them in that order.

Alternative Tentacles has started doing Podcasts as I found out from their newsletter yesterday. Jello has participated in a few of them. They can be found here:
Hee hee One of the guys in the guitar forums scanned his issue of Guitar World (it was the January Issue and I missed it) of this article of East Bay Ray. It may not be interesting unless you play guitar and want his tone because, they just talk about their new disc .
