rob zombies: children of the grave was awsome

ToRidTheDisease 12-11-2004 03:56 PM

It may be my new favorite cover. I also like Pantera's cover of Planet Caravan, it's better than the original IMO.

On to the next album. What does everyone think of sabotage?

Sabotage... I like it. It's much different than SBS and all previous albums, though. A bit 'lighter' and i think more cheerful (too much drugs already? :) ). And I must admit I don't know it really well because i've got it as a whole in one mp3 :(.
Hole in the Sky - cool song, very catchy riff, nice sounding chorus, good lyrics, and well-matching solo. And the drums are very good, have some nice fills here and there. Don't Start(too late) - a good guitar instrumental. Nice to listen to, very smooth sounding, and good opening for Symptom of the Universe - one of my faourite riffs of all time. Strange lyrics, but still listenable. And that acoustic part from the middle - really masterclass in a song that is built on E power chord. Megalomania - another one which I love, really. Got to know it from Past Lives, and it really is cool, in spite of being sooo long. Nice vocals, good lyrics, odd - for Sabbath - but still good guitars, well-working rhythm section - as always. The Thrill of it all - That's one of the songs that I don't know very well. Sounds just good. Supertzar - GREAT! fukin' good instrumental, very odd-sounding, but very nice to listen! Very cool riffs. And I like those choirs. Am I going Insane (Radio) - I know it from some 'Best of' casette. And like it. It's really insane :). those laughs in the end... sooo creepy and spooky ... The whole song sounds very nice, Ozzy's vocals fit very well. The Writ. The last song, and I don't know what to say about it, 'cos I've never paid attention while listening to it. I guess it's 'another good song by Sabbath :)'. Alright I'm waiting for others' opinions on Sabotage...

Very true there.

Anyway back to Sabbath. I'm getting Symptom of The Universe, and a Black Sabbath hat for Christmas.

kredkeee! 12-12-2004 06:17 AM

You mean that 2-CD set released 2002? Hah I wish I could somehow get the Black Box... The thing is that it was to be on sale only in USA and it was gonna be **** expensive... :upset:

Sabotage is a rockin' album.

How many peope here have heard the bonus song 'Blow on a Jug'?

Its at the end of The Writ on the old vinyl pressings and the most recent remasters. Its pretty funny, 32 seconds or so of Bill and Ozzy messing around on a piano.

Megalomania is the best track off Sabotage IMO.

For Sabbath covers, I've got:

Iced Earth - Black Sabbath...its pretty good.
Iron Maiden - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath..is also pretty good.
Pantera - Planet Caravan...excellent cover.
Ozzy + Primus - NIB..another excellent cover.
NOFX - Iron Man...its interesting, theres a lack of guitar solo but they have the bass outro up to speed at the end. I also have their cover of Ozzy's Crazy Train. Its got added horns and doesn't sound anything like the original, which is what makes it so great.
Megadeth - Never Say Die...was an alright cover, nothing special though.

I just noticed that Josh got banned....why?

Exploder 12-12-2004 02:46 PM

Hey it's Josh(Laiho).

I got banned because I made a Metallica thread that I felt should have it's own instead of being in the official.

JACKROXYOU 12-12-2004 08:06 PM

rippa32 12-13-2004 04:06 AM

What about the live dvds you can get? I wanna know what the quality is like on them.

shadow_stalker 12-13-2004 08:18 AM
I didn't. Got my Past Lives used :). Anyway it's verrry great except that Ozzy forgot the right lyrics on a few songs...:) Thnx for the rep
the altenate lyrics on songs like killing yourself to live are cool

machine head did a kickass version of hole in the sky (but they leave out the solo :upset: )

shadow_stalker 12-13-2004 08:24 AM

sabotage: is a very good album and well put together but i can't say much on it because i lost my copy :upset:

dvds: ive got the story of...vol 1 and last supper, both are very good but last supper has annoying interviews in the middle of songs (but they are piss funny), story of has more interviews (between songs) and brilliant versions of war pigs and NIB, so both are brilliant and worth getting :thumb:

i almost go the black box but it cost £55 and i just spent all my money on christmas presents :upset: , there was another box set from 1970 - 1992 but i dont know if it was an official one (still didnt get it)

shadow_stalker 12-13-2004 10:48 AM

lets play "guess the song"

i will start with something easy

"what you get and what you see
things that dont come easily
feeling happy in my pain
icicles within my brain (cocaine)"

hand of doom

"Man of madness who lives in my head
Keeping me awake at night he sits on my bed
He drives me crazy, he won't go away
Playing his game every night and everyday, yeah-ah"

has anyone noticed that part of 'megalomania' (sabbath) and 'tatood dancer' (ozzy) sound very similar
