Gravitation 10-07-2004 03:01 PM
Never Spam this thread again b!tch..

Has anyone read any books that relate to some of tools philosophys? Im reading through that cool occult story on danny's website, intresting stuff. What do you guys make of it?

http://dannycarey.org if you haven't seen it
Atleast I got you talking about something.

Killseng 10-07-2004 03:06 PM

Is that the thing they showed on the history channel.
Atleast I got you talking about something.
Listen, when you spam a thread and get banned for it you don't create another user and spam the same thread. Let me tell you where this is going. You spam again with another user and your going to be perm. banned from the site. I'll go back and perm ban your primary user as well.

clearvision 10-07-2004 03:24 PM

SFK banning him for trying to bump the thread once was maybe a bit harsh? A quick flaming and they'll see never do it again...

What are peoples conclusions to the Saunniere mystery? It's kinda related to tool cause there's a whole section on it on dannys site...

SonorKen 10-07-2004 03:38 PM

18. Don't bump threads, if they are not popular let them die off.

Its not harsh man, we have stuff as mods we have to do. This guy had been bumping all kinds of stuff and when he does post up a reply it has nothing to it and might as well be a bump. A little 3 day temp. ban will hopefully make him think about what he wants to do and be known as here at MX.

I hope he doesnt decide to spam again and loose the user name Otherside, thats a cool username........

As far as the conclusions to the Saunniere mystery, its something people need to research on thier own....
it really does bother me as well when ppl sa they are TOOl fans when they only know one or two songs. on the other hand...im a serious TOOL fan. i own all of their cds even the string tributes. i have every **** poster and underground **** that Maynard did way back in the day (C.A.D and The TexAns) i have like 3 TOOL backpacks and all of TOOLs necklaces/rings/hats/beanies/sweatshirts/t-shirts its crazy how bad my room is....im the biggest TOOL freak around...
maybe we have proof of mind control in Tool songs?

(for those who are unaware: www.toolbandlyrics.com, and while your at it, check out the thread about that link there[approiatly titled "Tool and Subliminal Messages?"])

i have one shirt, all the CDs, no posters, no backpacks, none of Maynards undergound records, none of the other works by other members, no sweatshirst, no necklaces, no rings, no hats, no beanies, no posters, and i dont capitalize Tool all the time

yet i consider myself an avid Tool fan

your not to much of a Tool "Phreak" as you are a bad shopper with no sense of monetary value...but ill admit, i used to be that way with other bands

its not so much how much money you give to Hot Topic, its more about loyalty to the band itself, just a tip for the next band you get into for 2 weeks

an_underused_memory 10-07-2004 08:23 PM

Really, as I said above, I find this one-upmanship about who's the most proper form of tool fan a bit pointless...
i know i'm a cranky old bitch, but i'm so sick of reading these debates...

SFK, is holy blood & the holy grail good? I'll have to check it out...
I just started one of the other books on the tool reading list, the wasp factory - its fiction by Iain Banks, quite good...only near the start but so far i'd recommend it to all toolheads..

SFK, or anyone for that matter, have you read the Da Vinci Code?
In yesty's paper there was an article that the publishers of holy blood are suing the publishers of Da Vinci code because of similar ideas.
I haven't read either so I can't comment, but be interested to hear your opinions...

SonorKen 10-07-2004 08:34 PM

I havent read the Da Vinci code. I have heard they are basically about the same topic. The Holy Blood Holy Grail is a good book. Its a hard read tho. They hit you with TONS of names and generations of families and lineages to keep track of. The book is definiatly an eye opener. I don't really talk about what my actual thoughts are of the book in public forums........
Someone gave a great insight into the alternative tracklist, although it can be hard to do, if you read

oh my dear sweet god, that site changed the way i listen to music, does anyone else know anything about the alternate order? this has me intrigued to no end
Dude thats f.ucking awesome. If I could get my dad into Tool, then dam.n. That would be awesome.
Diatonic Dissonance™ 10-08-2004 12:50 AM

Tool are alright. Haven't really heard any though.

clearvision 10-08-2004 09:13 AM

Where is this tool reading list you speak of? May find myself sending mother with a shopping list to get em some reading materiel...

/is lazy

Otherside 10-08-2004 05:51 PM

Well, i'm back... just a few things I would like to say/pointout

1. I would like to apologize for spamming, however I don't really care about postcount, I just wanted someone to start discussion.

2. That account (gravitation) was made in september, and its now october.. I didn't make a account after I was banned. I made that account a while ago, but I didn't like the name, so I choose this one.

3. Thanks for the compliment on my username :)

an_underused_memory 10-08-2004 08:07 PM

How enigmatic, SFK....is this because your veiws are controversial (as is the whole book, i understand)?
i maintain that we're still on-topic since its a tool-related book...in case anyone is getting pissed off about these book talks :)
I'm off to buy Holy Blood today, looking forward to it.

Clearvision, the list is from the old tool newsletter, the band used to recommend books each issue...
http://toolshed.down.net/community/readinglist.html
the newsletters are worth a read, too...
But unfortunately, sending your mum with a shopping list won't help much - apart from Holy Blood, the Wasp Factory, and a few other more classic books, they're hard to find...in sydney, anyway - i spent a day traipsing round the city trying to find some of the more science based books, and got zilch.
perhaps amazon is the answer...
good luck and let us know if you read/have already read some of them..

Tool's a.ss kicking

I think Tool is possibly the greatest band out there. Everything about them is and can not be replicated. They're truly unique and one of a kind. I have been reading this forum for a long time, (not all of it) and I have always wanted to contribute but I was to lazy to make an account. Now I have one. I've loved reading everything everyone has said (only if it was positive and beneficial for tool) and am glad to whoever made this forum. One question, I may have passed over this earlier when reading this forum... Anyone wanna expalin the significance of Pu****? I have my ideas but I'd like to here your guy's inputs...

Tool kicks all arses.

an_underused_memory 10-09-2004 01:36 AM

go right ahead and explain your pu**** theories....i'm (we're) all ears!
its been a while since someone posted analyses....which reminds me I should continue my 13th step analysis...

the stranger 10-09-2004 09:53 AM

I've ordered the 'complete Anochian dictionary'
which is referring to the language in with, faaip de oiad (the title) was written

I'm hoping to recieve it this week, and I'll let you know my ipinion once I've read it
are u serious? my dad was responsible for me getting into tool when i was 10, 6 years later we still jam
Ur lucky dude. My dad constantly tells me I can't idolize a rock star (referring to Maynard), he hates my music. Wish me and my dad could jam. That would be so cool.

Hero of the Day 10-09-2004 11:10 AM

I just got the book Nothing in this book is true but its exactly how things are by Bob Frissell. It is very interesting, it talks about alot of things. If you are a big Tool fan and would like further explanation on some of their ideas get this book.

deadohiosky9 10-09-2004 01:29 PM

Ooo I need to get that book. It sounds interesting.

deadohiosky9 10-09-2004 01:30 PM

O btw- has anyone here read anything by Timothy Leary?

also

www.toolpantheon.com has some intresting information about Lateralus and its relation to the Quabala...very enlightening id say...

as for my interpretation of Pu****?

i have no idea, how ever it is a very good song

46&2 however, i do know, and its on that FAQ

ok later

The Imagine video kicked a.ss. You could tell they worked hard on it. Made a good point too. Everyone watch it!!!

ThirteenthStep 10-09-2004 10:14 PM

Imagine was very asss kicking.... Come on guys, someone post something of Pushhit.. I had some ideas about how its like pretty much everything that needs to be made serious has to be hammered into a person, whether they want to know it or not..... I really don't know... But yeahd

I love the way he described how it was devised to skip the censors and make it to air time, as most of his past videos have not made it past censors to get day time airing (certinally the case in England, only Sober and 3 Libras of any Maynard 'projects' have been aired at reasonable hours).

For those who haven't seen it, its a cleverly put together video with past news story videos that depict war scenes and other topics relevant to the song. As all the scenes have been broadcast on the news, the censors cannot really stop it, or else it will be a tremendous depiction of the censorship nation that america sadly seems to be sinking further into. And it also has a Devo reference near the end :thumb:

But on a more personal note, those dolls scare the **** out of me!

Adam Jones is GOD 10-10-2004 05:14 AM

Tool will most definitley touring next year, and playing Download! (ok, that last part was just optimisim). APC 99% wont be, as they toured for a long time with the 13th step material, and the new albums isnt really live material. As for the Noose, the only critisicim i've heard is when its played live, it is very hit or miss if it transfers the feeling and mood of the song well. its amazing when done right, but mediocre when not.

The video is not on TV in the UK I know, very very rarely are APC vids played on UK TV, not even Scuzz will show them (but they have gone all screamo). Its available to view on their site though, here
