anybody like Symbyosis? their album On the Wings of Phoenix is immense

It's great, yeah. The second disc is sometimes lame but its all re-recorded stuff. They write really creative and original riffs. Haven't listened to them in months though.

yeah i noticed you had them rated on RYM. it is a very tiring listen though lol. im not sure what their status is now but i am hoping for some future releases. i need their first album too

Also listen to Winds of Creation by Decapitated, debatable for being technical but some consider it to be so, it's amazing.

Immolation I guess you could argue is tech death too, not because of how "tech" they are, but because of how they use counterpoints. Them too if they count (they're my favorite death metal band, any subgenre).

There isn't really anything generic about them :x give The Conductor's Departure another chance (haven't heard their others and I'm guessing that's the one you heard). Some of the songs are a little too long but other than that I can't find anything particularly wrong with it. It's been a regular part of my listening since I got it about 2 or so months ago and I'm still not at all sick of it.

so what do you guys think of morbid angel.. seriously. i've been on a MA binge for the last few days, and ive decided that they only have a few good songs per album besides altars which is very consistent. even the overall horrific Heretic has some gems.

I like Altars and Covenant the most. I like Gateways too even though all the songs are pretty slow.

Altars is pretty awesome.

yeah im pretty sure altars is about my favorite album from them, but convenant comes in a close second
