ArandomBassist 10-08-2004 07:34 AM

this is my second post in a casual thread... my first being first reply

so... one of my basses is getting defretted. im getting a pro to do it... im not too much the handyman (i pretty much failed woodwork) so im not game enough to do it. i feel as though i should be getting better with that sort of stuff so i could do my own bass repairs etc. but i dont think its gonna happen.

Its weird that most musicians i have encountered are able to do their own customisations and stuff like that.

are you good with your hands?

Accentopus 10-08-2004 09:11 AM

Evening all. Whats the topic then

Espbassor 10-08-2004 09:32 AM
are you good with your hands?
Hmm..surprisingly yes. I'm the kind of guy that once I get into something, I need to be able to customize it to my own liking, even if I don't change anything. That being said, I'm going to be practicing defretting here soon on my guitarists old guitar, which should be fun :thumb:

Espbassor 10-08-2004 09:34 AM

Thats the kind of spam I expect in a casual thread, especially from a mod :thumb:

btw congrats on 3,300 :D

Accentopus 10-08-2004 09:36 AM

I've finished tabbing out overjoyed now, so if anyone wants it, (correct) then just AIM me or reply

gaslight 10-08-2004 09:36 AM

22 days till new bass.

I have $700 as my music budget at the moment, but I don't know how to spend it.

I'm thinking, pedals.

Pedals with a $700 budget. That would be one nice pedal

gaslight 10-08-2004 09:43 AM

I should be afford to afford 3 brand new ones if I use all my $700.

moxshyfter 10-08-2004 09:43 AM

*wakes up and stretches* So what are we all doing today? :-D

Espbassor 10-08-2004 09:45 AM

^1 more class at 3:30 in dress code, then practice around 6ish, then go to sleep to get ready for practice and a show tomarrow. Fun fun.

moxshyfter 10-08-2004 09:47 AM

I meant in the forum, but that's fine too... ;)

Sorry what do you do.

Espbassor 10-08-2004 09:49 AM
I meant in the forum, but that's fine too... ;)
then that would be putting random letters together to form sentences which may or may not obey the laws of grammar then posting them on a online forum dedicated to musicians....as always :thumb:

Espbassor 10-08-2004 09:51 AM
Sorry what do you do.
what do I do as in....

...do at school?
I study Cyber Security.

...in the band?
I play bass

...when I'm alone at night?
:naughty:

Accentopus 10-08-2004 09:53 AM

:naughty:
Do you play music??
And yeah i meant as a job. That sounds a cool job though

Espbassor 10-08-2004 09:56 AM

Cyber-Security always sounds much more intresting then what it really is :p Hopefully, with any luck, I'll get a nice comfy government job doing computer forensics. May even be in the FBI

ShelBel 10-08-2004 10:04 AM

*sighs* I only wish I had $700... darn kids, needing to eat lunch and all that! ;)

I mean, geez... I need a new laptop, and I'd like a new bass.

And I've got a performance tonight at the hoity-toity golf course north of town... its our chorale fundraiser, we're doing opera and I've got a freaking two line solo in this song from "Sound of Music" that I didn't want and I *so* don't want to do. PLUS I have to get all dressed up and wear heels and a dress (yes, I'm a girl, no smart@$$ remarks from the peanut gallery, I'm not in the mood). For the first time that I can remember, I do NOT want to perform. Lovely.

I think I have an inferiority complex going on after hearing all the soprano soloists yesterday. *sigh*

Espbassor 10-08-2004 10:08 AM

@ Shel: Kids today, what with their constant begging for trival things such as food when we obviously have much higher needs :p

I'm sure that show will be just fine, maybe a pain, but who knows, maybe you'll have fun. :thumb:

gaslight 10-08-2004 10:09 AM

I should mention it's $700 Australian so don't get too jealous.

ShelBel 10-08-2004 10:12 AM

Yeah, if I fluff the solo, no big. I'll just go out and drink til I forget. I just sound pathetic next to all these people with amazing voices. Like I said- **** sopranos... Most of the time I'm very glad to be an alto (verging on a tenor), but I hear these arias and I just want to cry.

I wanna be able to sing like that!

Ah well. I'd like to see any of these people belt out "Megalomaniac" from memory!
