Singapore Zoo > all
*hasn't been to St Louis* |
Wordhouse, I can't wait to move there this fall. My friend goes to Wash U.
And the Zoo is phenomenal. That Zoo should be the blueprint for all other zoos.
I would love to attend Wash U. That would be amazing. When we went to the zoo, it was still considered winter season, so some of the animals weren't out yet. And the monkey house, as always, smelled horrid. But they still have an awesome zoo. |
I just fired yet another person, boy oh boy.
What do you do?

I'm going to sleep listening to a nice burned copy of Source Tags and Codes. I haven't heard much of it before, so this should be interesting.

I'm a Co-Contractor for a delivery service now. I opened up a bid for it a couple of months ago and now I'm basically running my own business. |
OMGOMG SIGUR RÓS ARE PLAYING IN LONDON!!!
I don't care I'm spazzing in multiple threads, this is just too exciting. |
You don't know how jealous I am.
|
Sigur Ros sucks.
Ohh, burn! |
My aunt's wedding later this afternoon. Mmm, buffet dinner. I just hope it's Chinese..
|
Saw a fantastic trombonist/seashellist last night by the name of Steve Turre. He performed with the NMU Jazz band, and it was a really awesome night. He's played with Roland Kirk, Ray Charles, Art Blakey, and has been with the Saturday Night Live band for 20 years. He's the coolest.

I just recievede my Bill Hicks DVD! \o/

My roommate just left to go to a wedding this afternoon... Strange "coincedence", don't you think? |

Yeah it was okay. I didn't really have any strong feelings about the album, so it will probably grow on me. |
seashellist
i love that album. |
Stupid yousendit... It won't let me upload a single file. I tried 5 times in 2 days, and still did not succeed.
|
Lately, I've finally been getting more and more into dance music. And I'm missing a Kills concert tonight.
*grunt* |

Which one have you got? |
Seashellist?
Interesting......
Indeed. I think he generally played 4 of different sizes, and then he had one huge one for the last song. He cuts them so that on the end is basically a trombone mouthpiece, and he uses lip tension, air column speed, as well as shoving his hand into the shell to get 3 or 4 pitches out of each. He's got this really mellow, expressive sound to it. He played the first bunch of songs on trombone, and then made like the concert was over. Then he did his silly little planned thing where her turned to the NMU jazz band director and said "Hey Mark, I forgot to play the shells!" And then he whipped the little cloth sheet that was covering them on the music stand next to him, and the band did a latin tune with him on the shells. After that, the concert really was over, but the response was huge. He came back out, and said that even though he hadn't planned it, he'd play an encore solo on the shells, since the band didn't know any more songs. It was unbelievable. |
Which one have you got?
http://www.dvdpacific.com/item.asp?ID=622760 <-- that one |
I don't have that one :(
Zappa - he sounds interesting. Do you have any recordings of him? |
Not yet I don't.
|
And to think I was going to come in here and say that Carl Fischer (a trumpet player who toured for 10 years with Wynton Marsalis and Maynard Ferguson) conducted my jazz band rehearsal the other day... but that doesn't hold a candle to the seashellist.
|
And I was going to come in here and say that Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds were just on C4 music, with a live performance from the Abbatoir Blues tour. Awesome stuff.
