For being an alt account, you sure have a lot of posts on it. As for Sober, the song took me about half an hour to learn. :-/ It's extremely simple, and it gets a little boring after a while. The solo is tricky for me. Not technically, but like Ben said, if you don't have a grasp on the methods of Jones, it comes out quite awful. :p

/knows from expirience

Artemician 06-30-2005 11:32 AM

Heh, nice. I wish I knew how to do stuff like that. I'm a good artist (to some extent or another) but I have no idea how to do custom paintjobs or anything fancy like that.

Doomed To Crumble 06-30-2005 11:43 AM

Having danny carey as your drummer if you were a bass player would be very hard if you were to let danny play to his full potential. I have so much respects for justin becasue he feels comfortable enought to let danny go wild in odd timing while he hold his own stuff down..he is amazing

I agree, the bass is often a very rhythmic instrument, and keeping rhythm to some of Danny's stuff must be rather difficult to say the least. Justin can hold his own though, most people often forget just how talented of a bassist Tool have.

Justin isnt overly amazing but he is really really creative with bass thats what I like about him so much.

Artemician 06-30-2005 11:59 AM

Same here.

If I want insane virtuoso bass, I'll go listen to some of Billy Sheehan's stuff for Steve Vai. Justin just makes great music.

Creative > Skill.

Hence why I hate any poll mx has, as it always levels out the other way round

Moses 06-30-2005 12:11 PM

Virtuoso Bassists > Virtuoso Guitarists.

Just my opinion. Also I wish Justin would drop the pick once in a while but that's just me. I like the thumpier sound.

Artemician 06-30-2005 12:22 PM

It would be interesting to hear him play without a pick, but it's alright if he keeps with it. I like his bass sound.
Jake

Go to these Cog forums, there are a few 90-95% tabs for tracks off TNN.

Hey to all the older reg's:wave:

I dlnded some of those cog songs a while back and i was impressed. I didnt like all the vocals but they had some really good tunes.

I do too, but sometimes I just want that thump in Tool. I wonder what it would sound like if he slapped.

Artemician 06-30-2005 12:55 PM

...

I think I killed the thread.

EDIT: Nevermind, more posts now.

 That might be a bit weird, and not even in the Tool-y sense. Imagine them with a funk influence.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-30-2005 01:02 PM

Justin's bass tone far surpasses any others I've heard. Tim Bob of Rage Against the Machine coming in second for me, though. Both are very hard tones to try and match as well.

Futuro 06-30-2005 01:06 PM

havnt been here in bout 3 pages and am too lazy to look back. any more stuff on the covers?

i bought a new mic, and its still making the noises, so i think it might be the cheap mixer making the popping and cracking, so i tried with the mic through the front of the computer and it turned out REALLY LOUD and distorted.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-30-2005 01:08 PM

No. We'll have Lateralus guitars garunteed by tomorrow, though.

Bummer. What kind was the new one?

Where's your cool avatar? Did the big one get taken away, or what?

another cheapo one. its called labtec am-22, its a vocal mic, i only bought it so i could test it out on my comp, im gonna take it back since i know its not the mics fault know.

about avatar, not taken away, im gonna wait and get an awsome one....im thinking of a blank white page exactly 100x100, then my user title saying "waste of an avatar."

Artemician 06-30-2005 01:14 PM

He probably took it down because it got screwed up like all the others.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-30-2005 01:18 PM

 That would be a pretty halarious avatar man. Oh, and my mic is also a Labtec. Perhaps is something in your soundcard that is effing up. :-/ That would be a little more costly..

Lateralias 06-30-2005 01:28 PM

I tried to use a vocal mic aswell for recording T&L.. didn't go so well if you listened to it. Bad thing is that if you want a decent recording mic you'll have to cough up like $90..
