What a huge contrast between albums of the same era and genre. Neat.
I'm starting to think The Sidewinder is one of my favourite jazz albums (although I'm not exactly an expert). Once my internet is back to its proper speed I will go on a downloading spree. |
Michael Gira & Dan Matz - What We Did
Maureen Tucker - Playin' Possum |

It's a hot one. If you dig Lee's style (as you seem to), I would recommend some Clifford Brown & Max Roach recordings, if you've got none. Clifford was the king of hard-bop trumpet. He's got less of that SOUL feel that Lee does well, but he's truly astounding. Most trumpet players exposed to Brownie's short career in the 50s took on his style. There's more great Lee on Moanin' and A Night In Tunisia by Art Blakey, as well as his own Cornbread. |

Just picked up Ryan Adams - Jacksonville City Nights. Sounds great. I like some songs more than others. It's a totally pure country album though, so it'll probably have to grow on me a bit. Can't wait for 29.

Miles Davis - Birth Of the Cool

I've been finding Toots & The Maytals really exciting lately. I'm very much a roots reggae kind of guy, but the little something extra in their tunes, also in some Peter Tosh tunes, really works for me, know what I'm sayin?

That cd will forever by the soundtrack to my life. I cant wait for DMST's new cd next year. And have you heard the new Mogwai?!!!! and I cant get enough of Apologies To The Queen Mary |
And have you heard the new Mogwai?!!!!
Is that the Government thingy? If it is, then nah, I haven't listened to it yet. Too much other stuff to sort through right now. Plus, I don't think anyone at my school has it to gank off of. |

Today:
SPUNK - En Aldeles Forferdelig Sykdom Arne Nordheim - Dodeka The Hold Steady - Separation Sunday |
Pleasure Forever are a great band. Or at least what I've heard in Alter.
|
Television- Marquee Moon
I've never heard anyone comment on the bass in this album; it's fantastic. Then again, nobody cares about bass in A/I except me :( |
I think the bass complements the guitar parts perfectly, but the guitar is just so domineeringly awesome that the bass gets pushed aside most of the time.
|
I pay more attention to the basslines because I want to be able to play them. It's not like there are any tabs for them because the bass is really all over the place and it would be too tedious for someone to tab out a whole song :(
