I'll be voting for The Yardbirds.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 10-19-2004 05:23 PM

Vote Yardbirds...Which one do you like better
Eric Clapton < Jimmy page < Jeff Beck

the mighty zep 10-19-2004 05:24 PM
I like alot of those bands.

Not soo much Lynyrd Skynyrd though.

Also not much Guns and Roses
Them two do have their really bad songs, but they have them couple great songs that make me have to change my mind. If you dont like these bands much but havent heard any of these songs...

Guns N Roses - Civil War; Sweet Child O Mine; Dust N Bones; or You Could Be Mine.

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird; Yesterday's Gone; Workin for the MCA; That Smell; or Blues Melody if your into really long crazy guitar solos, with ONLY the guitar

Civil war could be one of the best songs ive ever heard, Guns n Roses are too overated on Welcome to the Jungle. Lynyrd Skynyrd are great musicians, but i never had a big thing for Southern music either.

Van Halen could qualify, but they just have too many songs that annoy me. Outragous guitarist though, ill give em that.

Broken Arrow 10-19-2004 05:26 PM

I like the songs Freebird and Tuesdays Gone.

I also have the Cd Appetite for Destruction

Broken Arrow 10-19-2004 05:27 PM

I like them best with Clapton.

I'll trow out another question.

What group has the best singing harmonies??

jpj 10-19-2004 05:27 PM
Vote Yardbirds...Which one do you like better
Vote Yardbirds...Which one do you like better

Mine would be Clapton>Page>Beck

Ive always appreciated Page as my favorite guitarist, but i do think Clapton is better than him. I think only because Pages style is more sloppy than Claptons. I think they out do beck by a long shot.

I remember my first Yardbirds CD-Roger the Engineer.

I couldnt believe some of the best guitarist around sounded like that! I was expecting crazy guitar solos everywere, and just, great guitar work. After hearing songs like Physco Daisies, He's Always there, and Turn Into Earth, i couldnt believe it. and dont get me started on the Hot House of Omargarshid...that song cracks me up.

I think that CDs a joke, but you know, i still think its pretty good for some reason.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 10-19-2004 05:37 PM

Beck kills Clapton....

drugstore cowboy 10-19-2004 05:46 PM

They're all good...I like Clapton and Page, though maybe even Page a little more. I'unno. I like Derick and the Dominioes, then Cream, and "Cocaine", but that was John Cale...but needless to say Clapton has some really good stuff to his own name.

JPJ, i love your custom title...it's familiar, though i can't pinpoint where it comes from... =p
What group has the best singing harmonies??
CSNY, definitely..listen to Country Girl off Deja Vu, right before they go into the last section (which is Country Girl)...Goosebumps...i'd call it epic =p

djaysavage 10-19-2004 06:08 PM

I must say there is nothing better than going to a record store and buying an old album you used to listen to with your parents and already knowing all the songs, just sing along.

Dont forget Jefferson Airplane or Steely Dan

djaysavage 10-19-2004 06:13 PM

I also personally think Jackson Browne, Jimmy Buffett, and James Taylor count as classic rock even though they are still doing things today.
What do you guys think?

magicbus 10-19-2004 06:17 PM

I decided to start listening to Zeppelin again like in the last week. I realized that Jimmy Page wasn't the arrogant bastard I thought he was, so I kinda dumped the whole "dislike zeppelin because they're arrogant" thing. Because it was wrong. So I spent some quality time with their dvd this weekend. Its good stuff.

Also the polls were hard!
I went with Yes and Floyd.

Broken Arrow 10-19-2004 06:18 PM

I think CSN&Y and Cream do. Also the Beatles.

BludgeonySteve 10-19-2004 06:22 PM
I was listening to my new Neil & Crazyhorse CD, and he really does some killer electric work on it. I love Hey, Hey, My, My(Into the Black) and a Like a Hurricane.
Welcome to my world :) (like a hurricane is the ultimate song with tons of unneccisary solos that are all about 3 minutes long ;)).

Not so much rock. But hey, they're awesome, I like them and that's all that really matters ;)

Woodstock 10-19-2004 06:24 PM
I reeealy like the beatles, as you can tell from the avatar. Revolver is an awesome album, "Taxman" has got to be one of the best song of all time, IMO. gotta love george harrison's solo in that. Its a pity they broke up.
I know this is old, but he needs to know this.

The solo on Taxman was performed by McCartney.

James Taylor is great. Great acoustic player and a very recognizable voice.

Broken Arrow 10-19-2004 06:35 PM

Yeah he sang on 2 of Neil's tracks on the album Harvest.

Heart of Gold and Old Man.

BludgeonySteve 10-19-2004 06:38 PM
