Those were the days, eh? Back when you could post and get a reply in about 2/3 mins....

Even if you did have to put up with the odd shread/dropping coffee coup/3,000 CDs thread...

Squirrel 07-03-2011 11:06 AM

I remember when you literally couldn't keep up with this thread.

I wonder why the forums died off, I can understand members leaving but how come new ones never join[ed]? The general ethos of the place seems to have changed but that may well be due to me being significantly older now ..

The_Mop 07-03-2011 11:11 AM

Yeah, tbh, it's kinda a shame. I learnt a shitload of stuff from this forum. It has kinda died a death...

Recently joined up at sevenstring.org - even though the activity is there, everything split into so many subforums it's hard to manage where/when you posted.

Blue_Moon 07-03-2011 11:51 AM

ah people got old! and youtube, facebook and twitter raped every internet site

jus not the same

3rd day in a row drinkin after doing the same last weekend, not fun, but weather is fantastic

Squirrel 07-03-2011 11:53 AM

I remember the days when next to none of us had equipment and seemingly EVERYONE was "ignorant" to so much. Remember how people went crazy over peoples sloppy renditions of Sea of Lies and stuff? Now you go on YouTube and theres 13 year olds playing it perfectly.

I'm positive that the internet with tabs, videos, forums etc made a massive impact on peoples playing (maybe not their musicianship, possibly the opposite..).

Blue_Moon 07-03-2011 11:57 AM

probably demeaned a lot of people starting off playing guitar since you see 5 year old asian kids playing amazing shit flawless on youtube, its to easy to waste time randomly online at least when i had dial up i disconnected after each use of the internet, now its on everywhere 24/7 its gettin outa hand

SugarCoatedSour 07-03-2011 03:37 PM

yargh, this has now been lumped in as one of the many associative distractions. I personally view it this way, and have been hard pressed to actually learn and make use of the nets other than finding out about music worth listening to and the occasional flashback of actual interaction.

There's real site attached to these forums and no advertising of it anywhere

purple_hazer 07-04-2011 12:18 PM

true, and i bet most of the OG posters all came here through mxtabs. i mean, posters have been calling everyone here MXicans for years

Matt? 07-04-2011 06:01 PM

i came here through mxtabs way back in 04 i think and was a pretty regular poster in here back in the day as "floydfanatic" but then i stopped posting really... came back and it's really empty and mostly dumb people sadly

TBH there was just one dumb person.

SugarCoatedSour 07-05-2011 08:57 AM

we now need to declare honesty, in such times where lies and deceit are commonplace. TBH everything else is a lie.

Sad But True 07-05-2011 09:12 AM

You're a lie.

That might well be the greatest thing I have ever seen.

benfan 07-09-2011 09:20 AM

S'up lod.

Got back from Sonisphere this morning at half 2. Was a good day, saw 'The Big 4' and Diamond Head and The Black Dahlia Murder. Couldnt get into the tent to watch Protest The Hero, which was a little annoying.

I also got to see James Hetfield and Dave Mustaine hug onstage. Brilliant.
