Classic all the way!!!!!!!!
ok ok, i admit it, i'm a classic rock nut. i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, eric clapton, the doors, and so on. most of the bands i listen to broke up years before i was born. at 17, nearly every song on my playlist is older than me. but is it just my imagination, or is classic rock experiencing sort of a revival. i am running into an increasing number of classic rock fans my age. at my school (an all boys high school), the school newspaper took a poll of everyone's favorite genre and band. led zeppeling got 5th and the beatles got 6th, behind that rap crap. classic rock made up a large percent of ppls favorite genre. is this just by me, or are other ppl noticing this too?
o and for u classic rock fans, the crime of the new century was that the Yardbirds new CD, Birdland, recieved no attention at all. that deserved a grammy, or 6. so are there any other classic rock fans out there, and even if ur not, have u been noticing somewhat of a revival in interest for that sort of music?
I soo agree with you. Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, The Eagles, etc. I love classic heavy rock. There is something special about it, that the music of today just lacks. :thumb: |
Reason classic rock is coming back: a lot of people still smoke pot. there is little drug-influenced music nowadays, so stoners listen to classic rock. potheads are popular in school, so people copy them.
|
That's pretty inaccurate.
There is a ton of drug-induced music nowadays. |
I just bought Deep Purple in Rock on CD today ($12).
Tis so awesome. Deep Purple owns Zeppelin or any other hard rock band anyday. Every song kicked ***
You've obviously not heard their entire discography...it's really not the same without Gillian or Blackmore. |
That's pretty inaccurate.

The best of those being Queens of the Stone Age's "The Feel Good Hit Of The Summer"
The lyrics (in their entirety) consist of: "Nicotine, valium, vicadent, marijuana, ecstasy and alcohol.....co-co-co-co-co-cocaiiiiiiiiine" I think thats how it goes. |
You've obviously not heard their entire discography...it's really not the same without Gillian or Blackmore.
I have heard more. I've listened to their first two albums (forgot what it was called, but they were full of covers; had a cool version of We can Work it OUt), DPiR, and Made in Japan. They are **** spiffy I tell you. |
I was listening to my new Neil & Crazyhorse CD, and he really does some killer electric work on it. I love Hey, Hey, My, My(Into the Black) and a Like a Hurricane.
|
Nobody want s country floyd??
And I voted for Cream and Buffalo springfeild. I am glad to see so many Neil fans these days. Cinnamon Girl is by Neil Young not CSN&Y. |
I once reviewed Deep Purple in Rock.
You havent even heard Machine Head. Zeppelin owns Deep Purple. Am, I the only one here thats still listens to Zeppelin?? |
I still do. I also say that Zeppelin owns Deep Purple.
Machinehead is easily my favorite Deep Purple album, simply because it has Lazy on it, which is one of my favorite tracks ever. |
I listen to Zeppelin all the time. And they pwn Deep Purple so bad.
|
Deep Purple was very good live though!!
Gillan stills sounds nearly the exact same. |
Zeppelin was good live too, but I've never seen or heard Deep Purple live so I can't say if they were better.
|
Meh...........I wonder if Badmoon will want some Bluegrass/Country version of the Wall.
I once reviewed Deep Purple in Rock.
You havent even heard Machine Head. Zeppelin owns Deep Purple. Am, I the only one here thats still listens to Zeppelin??
Machine Heads a great album! I think every instrument has at least 3 solos through the whole thing. I was pretty surprised when i first got that album...it was my first Deep Purple, and the guitarist didnt do one solo with disortion. Still great though. Lazy, highway Star, and Smoke on the Water are some of the best songs ive ever heard. the only one i dont like that much is Maybe im a Leo. Whoever said Deep Purple owns Zeppelin really hasnt heard enough of any music. And someone asked me why i like Zeppelin so much, and what i responded wasnt answering their question, but directed to some on else...i think, i dont remember. But really, i just love there range of style, from acoustic to hard rock, and blues, though i didnt like them much after Physical Griffiti. Even though Jimmy wasnt the fastest most insane guitarist ever, he was still incredible. he truley mastered the guitar, from over 10 or 15 different tunings, ranging from acoustic 12 string to double neck gibsons, and could get any sound he wanted out of it. What i like most about Zeppelin is they didnt play the same exact material at their concerts. Songs like Dazed and Confused, How Many More Times, Black Mountain Side, and We're Gonna Groove are incrdible to watch. Their Bassist is probably one of the best next to Flea and Geddy Lee, and outstanding all-around Musician. Plant had such a wide vocal range, even for people who think its annoying, its still appreciative. and Bonzo is the god of drumming as clapton is to guitar. yes the others are close, but for what he accomplished, its amazing. As a drummer, i know what equipment he uses and unlike neil Peart 100 piece monster set, Bonzo only had a 5 piece set and a single drum pedal and still puts up incredible compition. That description of Zeppelin came out longer than id expected for a brief summary, but i personally think Pink FLoyd is the best band...just for the record. Zeppelins probably my 3rd fav |

:thumb:
Pink Floyd... heavy?? They're not really all that heavy, more just psychedelic and super laid back. And I haven't heard much by The Eagles, but I wouldn't classify what I've heard as heavy... |
Pink Floyd and the eagles defintaly dont qualify as heavy.
|
Who is your 3rd favourite band Mighty Zep??
|
Meh...........I wonder if Badmoon will want some Bluegrass/Country version of the Wall.
I wouldn't mind listening to it. |
Blue Grass and Country you say??
That's gotta be interesting. |
oh yeah.
They do all the songs on the album "The Wall" |
Hmmm, I haven't heard enough of music? I would think you'd say something like that to someone who thinks AC/DC and/or Zeppelin are Gods above all else (the newbs). I would think that someone who liked Deep Purple for more then just Smoke on the Water probably knows what they are talking about.
You're right, I haven't heard a lot of Zeppelin. I've only listened to II and VI. I must say, though, early DP wasn't all that great. But Deep Purple in Rock is seriously great though. (Abbey Road is still the best by far) |
The Pink Floyd album right?
|
I am not sure if your here but heres thee list:
Group 8 Eric Clapton Thin Lizzy The Yardbirds Cheap Trick Rod Stewart Bob Dylan Chicago Led Zeppelin The Eagles Blue Cheer Me is gonna vote for thy Yardbirds or Bob Dylan *Zeppelin must die*(which wont happen) |
I'll be voting for Eric Clapton
|
The Pink Floyd album right?
Yes sir! I'll vote for Bob |
Also I think Neil will make it on because he is pitted against pretty bad competition.
|
Who is your 3rd favourite band Mighty Zep??
