They probably do have snowboarding in Japan, even if it's in a simulated biodome on the 110th floor of a skycraper.

e p 01-10-2011 09:43 AM

Wow this is nostalgic. Last visit 24 July 2008...beast.

funkyhoney 01-10-2011 09:43 AM

It's like a top of 6 degrees over there at the moment haha, I'm gonna die. It's 25 right now in the dead of night. They do have ski slopes, good ones I hear. But I couldn't afford snow insurance, nor can I ski. I just want to frolic, I've never seen snow you see.

Just a holiday man, long overdue, I have barely been out of this city in over 2 years.

funkyhoney 01-10-2011 09:44 AM

Hey gaslight, if things go ahead as planned and I don't bitch out and quit my band I should be in Sydney by around May/June. Just after my birthday and a cousins wedding (incidentally also in Sydney).

gaslight 01-10-2011 09:51 AM

I've never seen snow either.

funkyhoney 01-10-2011 09:53 AM

You should totally come with me, it's not the hooch speaking. Get tickets and I'll meet you there. Deal? Of course.

gaslight 01-10-2011 09:59 AM

Can't afford plane tickets let alone time off work, especially in the school holidays .

funkyhoney 01-10-2011 10:01 AM

Either can I but I'm doing it anyway!

soon as I get back, time for full time work and some saving saving.

Ah well, I'll see if I can't keep you guys updated on my misadventures. I'm going to write a humorous story regarding my misadventure when I return.

Anyway, off to bed for me!

gaslight 01-10-2011 10:02 AM

There's an old Japanese saying that cautions travellers.

Beware-uh, cocktopus.

Seriously.

Watch out for the cocktopus.

Possibly cocktopi.

FunkMetalBass 01-10-2011 10:50 AM

Never seen snow? I figured Australia would be far enough south to be considered temperate and have some peaks that got snow. Interesting.

Many snowy parts of the US (specifically, Colorado and Utah) seem to be filled with Aussies during the December-March months because it's vacation time and they all come to work at the ski slopes.

fatbandit 01-10-2011 12:09 PM

How come New Zealand gets snow but Australia doesn't?

I played a gig at an indoor ski slope last night.

funkyhoney 01-10-2011 07:07 PM

Australia does get snow down south further. Winters for me don't often even get into single digits haha.

i.e. nowhere near 32 for you imperial fucks.

gaslight 01-10-2011 09:23 PM

Yeah there are mountains that get snow here but I'd have to drive really far out of my way to see it.

funkyhoney 01-10-2011 10:13 PM
Yeah there are mountains that get snow here but I'd have to drive really far out of my way to see it.
Eh, too much effort.

How's Sydney at the moment?

I'll be living in Atlantis soon.

gaslight 01-11-2011 04:48 AM

Sydney's nothing special man just the same old shit whenever.

Of course it's also one of the most fortunate cities in the world and anyone born into a life here is quite blessed but yeah, ups and downs.

Epidemechanical 01-11-2011 08:14 AM

im really starting to get fucking pissed off

my bass came on saturday, but because i dont have a fucking doorbell, i missed fedex

then for some reason they say its not going to come to fucking TUESDAY (today)

so on saturday i told them to hold it at the fucking fedex office near my house

and now today, the day i expect it, i get a messsage saying NOW ITS TOMORROW

what the fuck

FunkMetalBass 01-11-2011 09:00 AM

I may be in a similar debacle with FedEx with my wine club shipment because I moved to a new address and the winery hasn't called me back for my new address information.

In other news, this is one of the best Wiki pages I've ever read:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_common_misconceptions

gaslight 01-11-2011 09:58 AM

Haha yeah it is.

xkcd steered me there and I found it branched into more misconception pages too which I always find interesting.

FunkMetalBass 01-12-2011 08:33 PM

I brewed up two more 1-gallon batches of mead today. I'm attempting a lemon-lime and a chocolate-cherry mead. I'm using bread yeast, so I suspect that I wont get much more than 9% (ABV) out of them. I might need to toss in some wine yeast to bump it up to 11% or 12%.

I still need to rack my CDA to the secondary tonight and do a week or two of dry-hopping. Whew. Busy-busy.

What's everyone else been up to?

BenJammin 01-12-2011 09:10 PM

Why are you trying to push your ABV up?

FunkMetalBass 01-13-2011 01:15 AM
Why are you trying to push your ABV up?
If I don't, it will probably be very sweet and a bit thicker than I'd like. I imagine it will be more like an alcoholic juice than a honey wine.

gaslight 01-13-2011 01:57 AM
Why are you trying to push your ABV up?
Because the voices JUST WON'T STOP

funkyhoney 01-13-2011 06:23 AM

Anyone who was desperately keen to hear a new RSH track now has my permission for a period of seven days.

https://www.yousendit.com/download/bFlGeVdwMGtsUjgwTVE9PQ

I'm leaving for Japan in about 8 hours, take it sleazy guys. I'll see if I can take some photos of me playing the giant keyboards at SonyWorld.

gaslight 01-13-2011 07:13 AM

So you're not flooded under I take it?

FlamingCouch 01-13-2011 08:11 AM
I'm attempting a lemon-lime and a chocolate-cherry mead.QUOTE]

I know it's a stupid question, but they are both individual mixes, yes?

been working. That's almost exclusively it lately.

funkyhoney 01-13-2011 08:20 AM
So you're not flooded under I take it?
I live on the 3rd floor of a building on a hill. So no :smash:

And the airport's quite close and staying open due to "excellent drainage".

Peace out!

Very stupid question - yes, they are.

In a few weeks, I'm going to add a few more tbsp of chocolate and all-spice to the chocolate-cherry mead. I need to add to the lemon-lime as well, but I'm not sure which route I want to take - 1/2 tbsp of lemon flavoring and 1/2 tbsp of lime oil, or if I should just add more lemon and lime zest. Hmm, decisions.

gaslight 01-13-2011 08:23 AM

Put skittles in it.

funkyhoney 01-13-2011 08:39 AM

Just in case anyone cares, *coughpluttergurgle* gaslight. The track was recorded live with a single room mic (really? I couldn't tell) and the vocals added after. I think it was pretty damn tight considering we recorded it on the fly with no vocal cues.

gaslight 01-13-2011 09:27 AM

I am tempted by this gorgeous looking Pavel five string 'jazz pro classic' an Aussie store has. Looks amazing but $5000 is too much for me to spend on a bass or even two basses honestly.

FunkMetalBass 01-13-2011 09:45 AM
Put skittles in it.
Now I'm tempted to buy a bunch of skittles, toss them in a gallon of water, and throw yeast into it...

BTW, Pavel make awesome instruments. However, my general rule is that, if you're going to spend more than a few thousand on a bass, you might as well make it a custom.

gaslight 01-13-2011 10:10 AM

If I had $100,000 of completely spare money, that's pretty much when I'd begin to thinking about buying an instrument at that price.

Epidemechanical 01-13-2011 10:23 AM

I like Sadowsky instruments. He does fine fine work.

For the price, though, a USA Neckthru Spector is definitely where it's at. :thumb:

Epidemechanical 01-13-2011 10:40 AM

I think Spector instruments balance much better and they have a thinner neck, at least comparing the Studio 6 to the USA/Legend Spectors.

Yes, I do want to hear it.

I thought you didn't like Tool?

Epidemechanical 01-13-2011 11:44 AM

love tool bro lol what are you talking about i learned to play like almost every song of theirs on bass at one point i even had like 5 of the same exact pedals as JC

Convectuoso 01-13-2011 01:40 PM

What you're probably remember was his pseduo hatred for every rock band wanting the singer to sound like Maynard.

At least that's what I remember lol.

And yeh Tool are pretty sick when you actually think about it. Like I find myself always writing them off just another really good band. But you listen to them and it's like okay this is pretty awesome.

Rift Walker is def Tool riffage, I dug the drumming when it goes into the heavy part. It was actually as close to Danny's drumming as you probably could get with programming lol.
