I'm listening to Enslaved's Eld for the first time in a while and ugh it's hideous! Enslaved have really reached out to the mass market with this one. All that made Vikinglir Veldi so beautiful is gone, and Enslaved have dumbed down their music into simple clear sections, themes, so that any idiot can "get" the music.

Whilst true beauty shines through effortlessly, but what's clear here is that Enslaved have tried to force beauty within the popular "epic" viking metal theme, and so the music feels false and sterile. Every track has the same simple sections, making for a boring, mainstream, plastic album.

It's such a shame that a band that could produce something so brilliant as Vikinglir Veldi would put out this crap. Upon conclusion Enslaved have abandoned producing music that has beauty but only a few would understand have instead gone for the mass market of the emerging popular "epic" viking music creating simple music within the "epic" theme with a focus on trying to create beautiful music and through trying to force this beauty have created something hideous.

Eld is Enslaved's best album, gtfo.

Enslaved is very overrated, but they dont suck. Their early albums kill their recent ones.

Enslaved cant compare to Primordial or Borknagar in terms of Black/Viking Metal.

True about Primordial, but Enslaved crushes the fu[I]c[/I]k out of Borknagar.

I enjoy Borknagar's first album.

Yeah, my cousin introduced me to them and I liked what I heard.

I got one of their demos years and years ago. Then found it a couple years ago but not in playable condition so I tried to get a new copy and had a hell of a time tracking them down because no one here or any of the other boards I posted at knew who they were or anything about them. I finally managed to find someone in Alberta that had them so we traded.
