Get Fighted 08-22-2005 10:00 AM

who has the live version of the trooper they could send me

lightningmetal666 08-22-2005 10:05 AM

Damn, I missed the Devore Show. I really wanted to see Maiden not so much for my self as for my friend in AZ. Kind of a sad story but his dad was killed by a drunk driver and the night before his dad died, they were rocking out to Piece of Mind. I met his dad only once but used to talk to him on the phone all the time. I've made a personal mission to see Maiden play as a sort of tribute to him. Maybe one of you guys can keep tabs on a nearby show for me. I'm in southern california. Thanx for hearing me out.

Watched the Rock In Rio DVD last night.

All I can say is...wow. The band has so much energy for a bunch of 40-50 year olds (I'm estimating), and their setlist was superb. So much energy, so much greatness...definately worth the 20 bucks I paid for it.

ROH 08-22-2005 11:22 AM

Harris's comments on the Ozzfest happenings are bull****. I doubt he would actually say that he was embarrsed by Bruce.

Um, and IRON MAIDEN OWNS~!

Nickos was 50 then, the other guys were about 45-ish. Excellent DVD, shame the fiery cross didn't work...

 the maiden thread has had a name change

"Didn't need some reality show to give him credibility."

WHOO! GO Bruce!

sgt.bukkake 08-22-2005 12:15 PM

basically steve made fun of ozzy doing "the osbournes", a reality show on MTV in which cameras followed them around 24/7. Steve stated that "We're not a reality show band." So then Sharon Osbourne (Ozzy's wife and head hancho of Ozzfest) came out on stage and called him a prick in front of everyone. So then the **** thowing ensues... the crowd begins to thow ANYTHING they can get their hands on at Iron Maiden

crag 08-22-2005 12:15 PM

and what's all this about Bruce waving the British flag about? isn't the trooper supposed to be about the British troops and maiden have been doing it for years what did they expect?

on the subject of the trooper. 5th in the charts not bad eh

Dannyboy15 08-22-2005 12:16 PM

Thanks

for the people to lazy to click on the link :)

Heres sharons 'official' statement for those who havnt read it:
LAST SHOW FOR MAIDEN

Iron Maiden were chosen for the Ozzfest tour because the Ozzfest committee felt they were a good band, plus the fact that they had not done shows in the U.S. for some time. From day one, Bruce Dickinson started berating Ozzy and belittling the Ozzfest audience. He stated he“didn’t need a reality show to give him credibility”; "we're not just some f*cking reunion band"; and continuously complained about the sound system, saying that when he comes back to America he’ll have a better one. I understand he hasn’t toured in the U.S.in these size venues in a while and no longer understands the political structure of things. Out of 200-plus bands over the last 10 years, he has been the only person who hasn’t had the Ozzfest spirit. He thought he was at a battle of the bands, always making other comments about the other artists.

Might I say, the rest of the band are gentlemen and have a great professional attitude. The crew are absolutely great. But how sad it was, after 10 years, that this little man tried to ruin it for everyone. The bands of Ozzfest don’t even look at Ozzfest as touring, but as its heavy metal summer camp. Bruce is in fact a jealous prick and very envious. None of his tirades were directed at Sabbath, only Ozzy. Steve Harris [Iron Maiden's bassist] personally came to Ozzy in San Bernardino and apologized for Bruce’s behavior this summer, stating that he and the rest of the band were "embarrassed" by their own singer.

It also offended me every night how he took out the English flag in America. There are American boys going to war alongside the English boys every day. How dare he forget the American troops on their home turf. He has had no respect for the American audience he has been playing for, stating in an interview, “When you do the 'hits' tour here [in the U.S.], the audience is smug, and there's a sense of self-satisfaction, like, 'We got what we wanted…I'm looking at an audience that is self-satisfied and happy and fat, and getting what it wants and isn't prepared to get off its ***..”

Before there was Samson there was SABBATH!

Ozzfest 2005 continues on with our summer of fun with the addition of Velvet Revolver. This is where the fun begins…..
I don't think Sharon knows the theme of "The Trooper"

ROH 08-22-2005 12:16 PM

Some idiot guy walked on the stage from backstage promoting Ozzy and the U.S.A.

Does he not know where Ozzy is from?

IronMcMaiden 08-22-2005 12:17 PM

I can't believe they're complaining that he was waving an English flag about instead of an American flag. Maybe he's just proud of the country he was born in and had no intentions of insulting America.

As for what he said I would rather hear what he said the context it was said.

Hes been doing the flag thing on the trooper for 20odd years I think. Its about British troops in a war America had nothing to do with. Saying Bruce should have waved an American flag in the Trooper would be like saying he should be waving the Canadian flag in the Clansman, A song about Scottland.

EDIT: corrected spellings and re-worded to make more sence.

Sorry, couldn't help it, the pit in me is showing :upset:

This whole thing is stupid, Sharon is being a bitch about it and should give up with her money grabbing.

crag 08-22-2005 12:49 PM

so does anyone know if the whole PA switching off and Ozzy chanting was caused by Sharon or was it just just some asshole

nice to see someone is thinking on the same wave length as me :)

Arucard 08-22-2005 12:53 PM

Haha, Sharon got so owned.

Artemician 08-22-2005 02:24 PM

There's now about a thousand or so photoshopped images of Eddie killing Sharon floating around on the internet. They're rather funny actually. Anybody else see a few of these?

By the way, could somebody upload Iron Maiden (the song) for me? It's stuck in my head right now.
