I had one verse that was really sketchy. I re-did it but that's all I've had time to do.....

Mr Herb 06-29-2005 09:53 PM
I recommend it if you don't have to pay too much for it. It's not that good production wise but you can see the foreshadowings of what Tool was going to become.
ill buy it lemme get some cash first lol

Dried Muffin Remnants 06-29-2005 10:05 PM
IMO Aenema is the best album from Tool.
I agree. I think that there's more ambience and that there's great progression in the songs. Also, my two favorite songs are on that album: Third Eye and Stinkfist.

Mr Herb 06-29-2005 10:07 PM

lol, i must now listen to stinkfist till the weekend so I can nail it down correctly on drums. eulogy is teh ****

Stinkfist is a fairly average song.. I don't know how that could be one of your favorites (I'm not attacking, just saying). Compared to the other album openers like The Grudge its a pretty weak track...

123. For someone to say that they like Aenima better because of the progression in the songs and than say that Stinkfist is one of their favorites, is a bit strange. That song is the most straight forward song on that album. And also, yes, The Grudge is much better than Stinkfist (IMO).

 You're questioning why that is my favorite track? I love the lyrics, I love the intro, and I just think that the whole song is unique and a bit creepy. I love how Maynard uses the vocal effect going along with Adam's heavy riffing.

I realize that you're not attacking me, but you have to realize that a "favorite" anything is a matter of taste. So you think that The Grudge is a better track? I don't give a flying fvck! I don't care if the song is longer or more "progressive".. IMO it's more repetitive and doesn't give the same effect that Stinkfist gives...

No. I said that the album still has progression on it. When did I ever say that Stinkfist had that? I like the song because of the reasons aforementioned.

Mr Herb 06-29-2005 10:41 PM

stinkfist is hornier. . .and the lyricds. . .ill keep kiking till if feel somehting!

every man with testorone has to like that lol

Darkness 06-29-2005 10:52 PM

You think The Grudge is repetitive? Stinkfist plays the same riff about 50 times before theres any change... but whatever, to each to his own.

Mr Herb 06-29-2005 10:54 PM

lets not fight. . .bothare very repetitives at times. . .stink fist is much poppier and stuff but that dsnt mean its worse. ..

Stinkfist is a not a progressive song. The riff is also a lot better than The Grudge. The Grudge plays the same power chord strum like 92875458927 times.

Man, this is tiring.

Darkness 06-29-2005 10:58 PM

Yeah sorry, I'm a little bit pissed off tonight...

I was wondering the same thing when I read that.

Check out the Metal Drummers thread... everyone's pissing on eachother like fvcking urinals.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-29-2005 11:00 PM

Herb- It's keep digging.

As for Stinkfist and The Grudge, they are 2 of my favorite Tool tracks. Stinkfist is fun as hell to play on guitar, and The Grudge is the most difficult Tool song to play across the board. It's in 5/8 timing which makes the bass and guitar parts difficult, especially with the changing rythms, and the drum solo at the end is godly. Ken, the man of 20+ years of drumming expirience has never seen/heard anyone pull it off perfectly. that's saying quite a bit right there.

Darkness 06-29-2005 11:01 PM

Yeah I just saw that...

Edit: to in chains

Make sure to skip Herb. I think he's had his fill for a lifetime.

Ken has been busy doing a myriad of things lately. I'll try to get em all.

-He's a paramedic
-He started his own internet company
-He's in a cover band
-He's in a prog band very similair to the likes of Tool. I can't wait to hear from Crutch!!
-He mods every once in a while, too. :p

Darkness 06-29-2005 11:08 PM

Hm... as good as the drum solo is, I kinda find that hard to believe that someone with 20+ years of playing couldn't play it. Whats so hard about it? The rhythms?

Control yourself. Please. For the sake of the thread.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-29-2005 11:14 PM

He can play it, but he's never seen it done perfectly. Maybe you should start drumming just to prove how prolific of a drummer Danny really is. :p Everyone knows he's a beast, but to truly appreciate how good he is, you probably have to be a drummer. I don't drum, but if I did, I'm sure I would focus more on his playing than I would on Adam's riffage, which I do plenty of now.

Darkness 06-29-2005 11:16 PM

Yeah I know hes awesome and stuff, and he's probably my favorite rock drummer. But your right, I'd probably like him more if I was more advanced with drums and stuff.

Yeah, you could be a drummer.

Or you could be an average person and try to play a 43157/134 polyrhythm. Then you really know.

I'm not quite sure if that makes sense, but you all know what I'm saying.
