Indeed it will be. You stop your complaining though! I'm sure there are a lot of shows we'd kill to see that only you Swedes get :p
You're probably right, I will try not to sulk :p
I just found out that they're supposed to be playing in San Diego towards the end of March. Very cool.

Kind of a weird thing but I can't seem to listen to anything else but Opeth as of late. Maybe they really are that good....
Duh! Of course they are. I need to fully download/buy Orchid now, then I have all of their albums.

MidnightRider 01-30-2006 02:56 PM

Today in world history class, while bored out of my mind, I decided that The Funeral Portrait is my least favorite Opeth song.

I sadly agree. It's just nothing special by Opeth standards.

Darkness 01-30-2006 03:03 PM

Still has a pretty meen main riff, and some good growling.

You're the first Opeth fan I've heard calling BWP their least favourite. It's one of my favourites.

i know, its strange. every body says it is such an awesome album but when i first heard i thought it was "meh" compared to the other 7. maybe itll grow on me like some other albums have.

Darkness 01-30-2006 03:10 PM

It probably will, it really does have some awesome songs.

Hells Bells 01-30-2006 03:17 PM

Yeah that's definitely a first...
BWP's one of my favs :p Give it some time and it will grow on you, it's a fantastic album.

Stoo 01-30-2006 03:18 PM

For me it took longer to get into the 1st 3 albums. .

It's the first one I heard, and it probably amazed me the most out of any Opeth album because of that. The Funeral Portrait is actually pretty cool, the vocals in particular are great. The riffs are somewhat uninspired though, I'll admit.

Jude 01-30-2006 03:20 PM

Blackwater Park is good, but overrated. It suffers from some mediocre parts toward the middle (some of TDF, as well as a lot of Dirge and Portrait) but the beginning few songs rule and the closer is one of Opeth's best songs ever, so I think that's why people come away raving about it. I think Still Life is a much more consistent and solid album, same with Morningrise and even MAYH.

I pretty much agree with everything you said there but I just don't get what's so amazing about Morningrise. The only song that really amazes me on the album is To Bid You Farewell.

Stoo 01-30-2006 03:23 PM

Let's face it though... With only 5 songs on Morningrise you can see why te album as a whole is rated so highly. The more songs you have on an album, the more filler you have...

If all Opeth albums had 5 songs on them, then they'd have the best metal discography ever.

Whale and Wasp 01-30-2006 03:23 PM

the only songs i particularly liked were harvest, drapery falls, funeral portrait, and patterns in the ivy. the rest sort of.....bored me :(....usually opeth never bores me

Morningrise is the same length as other Opeth albums (in fact longer than a lot of them). The reason it has 5 songs is because they're so long. (all are over 10 minutes and one is 20 minutes)

I dunno, I just love it.

W&W: WTF? You don't like Leper Affinity, Bleak, or BWP?!!!??!

I know I have it. But it's easier to spot weak points on albums with more songs.

I find this shocking man... Leper and BWP are Opteh classics dude... but an opinions an opinion.

Pale-Folklore 01-30-2006 04:18 PM

i'm listening to that song "the apostle in triumph" right now - it's really complex (great song)

hey, can any of you guys play opeth songs on the guitar/bass/drums?

since im not very good and have never had a lesson in my life, the only one i can play on guitar all the way through is black rose immortal (excluding a few of the acoustic parts and the 2nd solo) and little bits and pieces of other songs

Cool to know you can play Black Rose Immortal..Im actualy learning that one now. But I could play The Twilight Is My Robe up to the 12 minute mark, and Masters Aprentice.

nice. the one song i'd REALLY like to learn all the way through would be to bid you farewell (along with another guitarist)

i find that most of the old songs (orchid and morningrise) are easier to play than the newer songs

Itll grow on you... at first I hated BWP and Dirge. Now I love BWP and think Dirge is pretty cool

Pale-Folklore 01-30-2006 05:42 PM

i have to agree that blackwater park is a classic. i was just listening to it and it gets so intense near the end, i was having fun pretending i was martin lopez

I love how it fades in after the slow part, right around 5:10...that riff gives me chills every time I hear it.

Too bad that song only has like 3 riffs :p.

hahah, i know what you mean

as for the song not having enough riffs, i think it's fine, it works

Darkness 01-30-2006 06:42 PM

Either I haven't heard the song in a long time, or the song has a bunch of different riffs if memory serves correctly....

leper affinity and bwp are alright but i didnt recall particularly enjoying them

i would like bleak (some parts of it were excellent) but it was ruined by those lame whiney vocals...whoever the hell sings them (it sure doesnt sound like mikael, at least i hope not).
