i like james better than dave, so i hope he wouldn't be. i also don't think metallica would be anywhere near as big if dave were still there
yeah, you are right, also, do you know why jason newsted left the band?

i think james said, on vh1 or mtv somethin like that, that jason wasn't all that happy anymore touring and playing. i think he said he wanted to be with family or somethin

i just found the best metallica information site i've ever seen. Its not metallica.com, or a metallica website, yet it has all the little details.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metallica
that is so sad, but enjoy. They even have information on albums, and songs.

Hey JackRoxyou, what tipped you off that metallica might be comin out with a new album next year? Just curious- like did you hear this somewhere or are you just assuming/hoping? Anyways, in the event that they do come out with a new album next year...lets all hope it's nothing like St. Anger! Hopefully all their recent touring, and playing mostly the classics in doing so, has reminded them of how they used to thrash when Cliff was still there... :upset:...

Linking to wikipedia is hardly advertising. Lots of good info there.

They've been talking about it for ages. Also it says that they're currently in the studio on their website. Have a look through this thread - its all in here somewhere

hammet_ownz 01-09-2005 04:03 AM

i heard the new album is gunna be a return to their roots, sort of black - justice feel. also, from an interview with lars i read on the metallicasite, it is gunna, have some huge bassline innovation from robert (pops, slaps). dunno if they are for real though, but a bit of innovation in bass would be good, a nice change from all of jason's sliding techniques.

Chu 01-09-2005 04:20 AM

All the information I could find on the site about them being in a studio was from St. Anger....

Joe 01-09-2005 10:15 AM
All the information I could find on the site about them being in a studio was from St. Anger....
i really hope their new album is either similar to black and previous, or something like a greatest hits album, because i don't want another st. anger

DisposableHeroes 01-09-2005 10:16 AM

Its most likely not going to be a St.Anger repeat

Joe 01-09-2005 10:18 AM

well you never know, it sold a lot of albums because everyone expected a garage inc or a black album. i hope it's not a stanger repeat

Shazzam 01-09-2005 10:23 AM

Metallica blows

jk

DisposableHeroes 01-09-2005 10:24 AM

You've got to think about certain things though, for example no Metallica album sounds the same, and that the band must have acknowledged what fans thought because their setlists were made up almost entirely of the classic stuff

true, but they're 80's stuff was a bit similar, but amazing

i'm actually pretty optimistic, on the MIAWTW tour, they played mostly stuff from the 80's. i heard 3 black album songs (NEM, ES, SBT) and about 10-15 songs pre-black album. they played fuel, i think that was the only post-black album song... so maybe this album will be more like the older things

DisposableHeroes 01-09-2005 10:30 AM

I hope it is, i mean i dont mind throwing in a song or two off St.Anger in the set

resist refuse 01-09-2005 10:30 AM

I think it's a travesty that they never play much material from Load + ReLoad
