It's the weirdest thing ever! It could be straight out of the 60s....

It will be interesting, I suppose, although I think ballet in general is really sick. I don't think destroying one's own body for the sake of art is very cool.

Ventriloquist 01-29-2006 02:04 PM
I'd have to compare which I'm too lazy to do now. It seems maybe a litte faster.

I watched Lamentations last night.

The best live DVD/video I've ever watched.

You watch him sing so beautifully on the first half.
Then these brutal growls on the second set.

If you closed your eyes... I doubt you'd think it was the same singer.
yeah a little faster. you're right it's wonderful performance. mikael has a nice brutal voice ...and a clean one.

Ventriloquist 01-29-2006 02:06 PM

it will be an interesting piece of art. I think they will change the song a little bit :S otherwise I cant imagine them dancing in the outro part of deliverence :)

vashts80 01-29-2006 05:21 PM
umm in lamentations gig do they play deliverence song a little faster ? maybe to save some time ? it sounds faster than the album one
Yes. Deliverance is usually 10bpm or so faster live, and on Lamentations they cut out two or three rounds of the outro, no idea why.

Have you seen the dancers' feet after a show? It's awful, their toenails are cracked and bleeding, they have huge bruises.. you just know that their feet weren't meant for that kind of abuse.

Shattered_Future 01-29-2006 06:00 PM

The ONE single show that's playing close to me, I don't get to see Dark Tranquillity and Devin Townsend.

DAMN YOU ALL.

The awesomest thing Opeth or any other band have done recently and you're unhappy?

Dunno about DT, but Devin will tour again. Enjoy the ballet and be glad. I'd kill to be in your shoes.

Dude, Dark Tranquillity is one of my favorite bands. And Townsend would be awesome to see in concert.

I almost NEVER get to go to concerts.

Although it WOULD be interesting...

Ahh. Devin is indeed awesome in concert. If it makes you feel better, Opeth aren't performing here but Devin Townsend's headlining instead. I feel your pain. Mikael promised they'd be back in February. :upset:

Enjoy your concert. I'm sure it'll be very interesting.

I'm 17 and don't drive.

I don't care about going anywhere though. So it doesn't matter.

Oregon has gay teen driving laws.

If your under 18, you can't have any other under 18 people with you.

I don't think you can have passengers even until 18.

Deth 01-29-2006 08:12 PM

I have my learners permit, but I barely use it. 10 months until I get my real license.

16 years young.

Nah, the outro of deliverance could have cool dancing to it.

This is a really cool idea; I hope they release a video of it or something.

Darkness 01-29-2006 09:10 PM

Treebeard 01-29-2006 09:20 PM
Ballet Deviare
Title of work- "...And The Devil Knows Why"
Choreographer- Laura Kowalewski
Composer-Opeth, "Deliverance"
Dancers- Samantha Koetsier, Shannon Plumstead, Erika Sutter, and Julia Welsh
New York City Premiere-December 18th, 2004

Company Statement:
The visceral fusion of two seemingly total opposites. A maelstrom of a marriage between the beauty and grace of ballet, and the force and brutality of metal. Bringing high art and extreme music together. Incorporated in November of 2003, Ballet Deviare is a non-profit contemporary ballet company residing in New York City. Ballet Deviare strives to reach a vast audience ranging from balletomanes to those who have never been exposed to the art of ballet. Deviating from what is expected within the norm of ballet companies (which is how the name of the company came into being), Ballet Deviare has harnessed an eclectic audience ranging from dance connoisseurs to those individuals who have never attended a ballet performance.
Ballet Deviare's choreographic projects entail the merging of what may appear at first glance to be complete opposites, the beauty and grace of ballet combined with the power and force of metal music. Not for the faint of heart, Kowalewski's choreographic works range from adagio inspired movements invoked by the darkened melodies of doom, to petit allegro propelled by the double base drums and thunderous riffs of death metal and grind.
:amaze:
Ballerinas dancing to death metal?!

And they're supporting Opeth...You never know what to expect from that band.
I could kill someone to go to that show! I'm pretty sure the show's gonna be awesome!
Indeed it will be. You stop your complaining though! I'm sure there are a lot of shows we'd kill to see that only you Swedes get :p

lightningmetal666 01-30-2006 01:19 PM

I just found out that they're supposed to be playing in San Diego towards the end of March. Very cool.

Kind of a weird thing but I can't seem to listen to anything else but Opeth as of late. Maybe they really are that good....
