If more than 17 people know the bands that Gav talks about, he stops liking them. Be very wary.

Scene kid band confession: I like Fear Before the March of Flames
hahahahaha its fine man, don't worry. Fear Before are good no matter what anyone says.
Yeah, man, I love Beatnik work. Kerouac...Burroughs...man, I dig it all. It's just so honest and heartfelt. It was an amazing era yet not many people know about it, really.

-Gav
ya, its been so overshadowed by the 60s and 70s. everybody just sees the 1950s as the birth of the suburbs and consumerism, but they don't realize that even as it was beginning people were already rebelling against it. i think the later countercultures took it too far and got too far away from the roots, like the substance had been lost.

I honestly love FBTMOF first album. I'm not big on Art Damage. I loved the horrible near tone deaf singing, but they dropped it.

bottlerocket 07-27-2006 01:11 AM

I love all of FBTMOF's stuff.

By the way, Erik's a friend of mine, so take care of him, guys.

i like odd how people shake best too, and really liked the singing too. i tried to get one of my friends into them and he complained that the guy couldn't sing, but to me thats whats so great about it. like the slow part of go wash your mouth would be boring if it weren't for that singing style.

bottlerocket 07-27-2006 01:18 AM

^ Exactly. I like his voice a lot because it's passionate and heartfelt. That's why I like Billy's voice so much.

Truth.

bottlerocket 07-27-2006 01:44 AM

OTMOP's best song is For Meg, in my opinion. That outro is EPIC.

Also, Erik can vouch: Doesn't my scream sound just like Dave from Fear Before?
hahahahaha its fine man, don't worry. Fear Before are good no matter what anyone says.
Awhile back, I went a scenster band rampage, just to see what all the talk was about. I tried out Underoath, Fear Before, and Every Time I Die, and maybe something els.e All of them were really bad, but Fear Before had really good music with a good mix of screamy vocals and whiny pop-punk vocals
i like odd how people shake best too, and really liked the singing too. i tried to get one of my friends into them and he complained that the guy couldn't sing, but to me thats whats so great about it. like the slow part of go wash your mouth would be boring if it weren't for that singing style.
Odd How People Shake is the album I got. Haven't really bothered getting anything else, not sure if I should.

The singing style is what won me over about them.

Jim says you sound like a bird; I say you can sound like anything you want if you put your mind to it. :thumb:

But actually, it has come to my attention that you can do the voices of pretty much every emo band you listen to. I don't have your screaming ability, but I might work on it. I think, if I work on it, I might be able to successfully turn my high pitched, ear shattering, girl being raped scream into a balls to the wall emo scream. I guess I'll have to wait until no one is around at my house, eh?

-Erik

bottlerocket 07-27-2006 01:53 AM

Jim also listens to grind so he thinks anyone that doesn't do gutterals screams like a bird.

Thanks, though, man.

I love the high pitched girl being raped scream, though. :( DON'T DITCH IT. Keep it. It's hysterical.

I'm off to bed...night.

Uh Oh Gav is recruiting people for a signing their name at the end of posts crew.

I wonder if Rasputin still has that Amanda Woodward vinyl, if so, I shall buy it next time I'm there.

Nah dude. "If I Knew Numbers" is the best and the "This is me!" at the end is the best OtMoP moment ever.

But of course you know that's how I feel since we discuss this literally every time we talk.
