Lateralus, Aenima, or Third eye. Those 3 songs do wonder for me. These songs, Third eye especially, will set me into kind of a trance.

Does any one else do this? Just close their eyes and absorb their music. I did this today during thrid eye. It scared the hell out of me. About 11 mintes in my toes to my lower ribs went tense, and my entire body was shivering. During this i saw an eye, that opened up and stared at me, funny how i was listening to third eye eh? But i can still vividly remember the eye. Man i must sound like a lunatic here :p All of this happened untill i opened my eyes. Then i was calm, relaxed and completely warm, (it was a very hot day).

All the time to reflection, especially when coming tired from school.

I absolutely love that feeling.
This is the kind of music we strive to write in Crutch. Stuff that moves people. The greatest compliment ever would be to see some people discussing how the music I make causes them to get goose bumps or causes the hair on the back of their neck to stand up.

One thing that is really cool with Crutch is some of the lyrics I have written mean totally different things to whomever reads it. I have yet to have anyone tell me what the song means when they read the lyrics and this is what I strive to do. Write something that someone can get in touch with on a personal level.
I'm interested..where can I see some of your lyrics?

SonorKen 07-23-2005 11:46 PM

The thing alot of you guys are not picking up on is this. As powerful as their music is, the things they are writing about are truly phenominal. Learning how to Mantra, move your Star Tetrahedrons, create a Merkaba, transend. This is what really got me into Tool. I was researching Metaphysics and BAM, I hear them singing about it. I connected with them on a musical and spiritual level.

When people come to Crutch's studio one of the first things they do is usually check out the book collection, it is a collection I study and study and have learned mass amounts of information from.

Mr Herb 07-23-2005 11:46 PM

1. All those goddanm fillertracks WTF?!?!?! they suck, they shouldnt do those.
2. well not much to put here.

any way back too teh topic :p

lateralus makes me poop every time i hear it ;)
the sober intro makes we want to shoot adam jones in da head ;) (dam feedback)
but for chiilllllls i would have to say either Pu**** or H.

One Groovin Clown 07-23-2005 11:48 PM

normally i lvoe that feeling of seperation that i get when i trance into Tool. But this one time was scary. I don't know how to explain it. The eye on its side with colourless skin opening up showing a gree/purple eye. For some reason it freaked me out, let alone my body tensing up. Maybe this is a start to waht tool has let us know, about opening our third eye. Maybe this is the start of me opening it up. Or maybe i'm jsut speaking gibberish, take it any way you want.

<verse1>
Tragedy seems to follow me
The darkness is always near
Consuming me while awaiting to free the vine
Silent witness to the shock, horror, and pain
Chaotic images dance within, while I am both dead and awake at once
Emotions, only visible to me, assimilate into my body becoming a burden I cannot relieve

<chorus 1>
Why do you try to stop this?
Why do you want to delay the inevitable?
Why do you ****ing try?
Why do you ****ing try?
Sit down and realize this is beyond you.
For once come to bear that your not the savior you once thought.

<verse 2>
I watch as your precious’ journey is revealed
The vine has ruptured
The scab begins to form
Total darkness, nothing else
The metamorphosis begins
The Aura surrounds me, baths me, absorbs itself into me
I am here, the only one.

<chorus 2>
Why do you try to stop this?
Why do you want to delay the inevitable?
Why do you ****ing try?
Why do you ****ing try?
Sit down and realize this is beyond you.
For once come to bear that your not the savior you once thought.

<verse 3>
Levitation departs you from your familiar surroundings
They violently tear at the scab
Trying to prolong the inevitable for their own temporary comfort
Faces, screaming emotions, contorted with pain are silent now
<bridge>
I am here
In the darkness
Living within this Sea of Judgment
Neither living nor dead for eternity
Am I here as your savior?
How can you mean anything to me?
Am I the one to lead you to your path?

The song continues but I have to keep the ending of the song a secret publicly. Now, from this you should be able to get an idea of what I wrote this song about. Lets see how ya do!

Disposition/Reflection/Triad, Jimmy, The Patient, and The Grudge do some crazy things to me.

I can't explain the feeling, but I feel like a different person.

Those are not filler tracks man, they are spiritual tracks and possibly the most powerful music on the recordings. These are the tracks that the guys in Tool use to put their emotion into the music.

nice lyrics ken, sound tool influenced.

Syncratic 07-24-2005 12:12 AM

Yeah, I noticed that too.....got a name yet? I'm good at naming my own songs, they just tend to sound immature a week after I write them.

Huber 07-24-2005 12:14 AM

I tried writing lyrics once, it was a mess.

Dude3 07-24-2005 12:14 AM

Those are great lyrics Ken. I need to attempt writing lyrics some time. I have a feeling I can, but I also thought I could sing. A little playing around with Cakewalk proved me wrong.

-My toilet just overflowed. My parents bedroom is soaked, and I'm not kidding. Its 2:14am. I think I'm going to bed.

Moses 07-24-2005 12:29 AM

You wrote the lyrics before the music? I always do that afterwards.

Syncratic 07-24-2005 12:30 AM

I suck at instruments (well, I suck at guitar chord changes and I have small hands) but I'm a good writer, so I stick to lyrics.
