I'm sorry I just assumed The Simpsons was televised in America in addition to being written there.

Maybe I spelt his last name wrong but I'm sure that doesn't matter.

Lol. Oh. I've probably only seen 10 Simpsons episodes in my life, 6 of which were the Halloween episodes (that I watch every year).

Douglas WM-1 Tele Guitar: $149
White Spray Paint: $12
Black Hardware: $160
Tele Neck w/ ebony fretboard: $160
EMG 81/60: $200

Total for a Jim Root-esque Tele with a tone control and better tuners: $681

Fender Jim Root Tele guitar: $1200

Savings: $519.

mfb 02-11-2010 12:25 PM

spray paint though?

FunkMetalBass 02-11-2010 12:28 PM
spray paint though?
If you have a spray booth and good painting technique, you can make spray paint look better than automotive paint.

Plus, it's a flat white spray paint. It's really hard to mess that up.

It's not playing to a click that's a problem. It's just making the click tracks that's being a bitch. Our drummer is making them, but he's doing weird things with them so each one has to be revised like 4 times. There's only one of our songs we're recording which is a constant tempo and time signature. Joy.

blacklungfever 02-11-2010 07:58 PM

I've been through that. Changing time signatures isn't a huge deal, but making clicks for changing tempos stinks.

Convectuoso 02-12-2010 01:00 AM

Try taking a track that you've recorded with a band who has a pretty good musicians but the drummer is ****.

You then have to map out like every two bars to a tempo and then try and get everything in phase, then hopefully the guitars aren't out of time. Jesus christ.

And that is why I am recording a band this year that has a drummer who can play to a click with no problems.

On a side note he's actually the singer/guitarist/song writer. But he's one of those jack of all trades, he's gonna multi track everything. Yay for not having to deal with a full band lol.

FunkMetalBass 02-12-2010 09:20 AM

Man, I'm so broke right now. I cannot wait until I get my damn tax return so that I can pay off my credit card(s) and pay my school. Should leave me with: $14.26, but debt-free. Yay.

That's kind of what I strive to be. My vocals need work, and I don't have drums to regularly play on, but guitar and bass and minor vocal work - I'm solid.

I need to look into programming drums. Joel, is there anything you'd recommend in that department?

Efrim 02-12-2010 11:43 AM

Thanks to my fancy financing, I have enough tax credits from last year to get around $1700 on my tax return. Wicked cool.
Except that money was mine to begin with.

fatbandit 02-12-2010 03:36 PM

Our drummer is pretty good with a click. He's from a very jazz oriented background though, so he can be quite relaxed with the click. He isn't rigid with it. Which I think sounds more natural. It's only a problem for any time we use pre-programmed stuff. But he'll work through it, he's an amazing drummer.

Going to finish off the clicks tonight, and when I get in from work tomorrow me and the guitarist are going to record guide tracks to them. I'm not wasting our time when we're down at the studio by spending time creating click tracks and recording guides, I want to get straight into the good stuff.

On another unrelated note, how good is Hybrid Theory? I bought it again today. Much love for it.

I always thought it was absolutely phenomenal. Linkin Park's material, especially as Hybrid Theory, was just incredible.

I'll be 21 in under nine hours. My girlfriend and roommate want me to go out and power-hour with them, but frankly, after this week, I don't think I have it in me.

burtonbassist_102 02-12-2010 05:41 PM

yeah, hybrid theory was definitely teh shizzzz. wasn't much a fan of re-animation or meteora, but hybrid theory is awesome. it's an album i visit regularly on my ipod.

Mr. Pickle 02-13-2010 12:00 AM

I always figured FMB was, like, at least 2-3 years older than me.

burtonbassist_102 02-13-2010 01:43 AM

whoa, me too.

Mr. Pickle 02-13-2010 04:33 AM

Yeah, but I don't know how old you are, so don't agree with me unless you plan to specify.

like i was asleep in the living room and he ****ed with me all morning like attacking my feet and stuff

and this morning he was waiting in the hallway standing on the table and when i walked by he jumped out and assaulted my arm

covered in scratches :-(

Spaceman Spiff 02-13-2010 12:55 PM

That cat does sound like a douche. The only time a cat ever attacked me was when I was young and I thought it would be funny to see what it did if I barked like a dog at it.

It reacted by standing still for a moment, watching me, then it ran over, bit my arm, and ran off.

I like cats, but they always seem so cold and impossible to read. I always think that when I pick one up it's going to bite and scratch me. Well, not so much anymore, I've been building up my comfort level because all my friends have cats.

This has been my post about cats.

Moon Flavor 02-13-2010 01:07 PM

I love my kitty, she's a ruthless hunter but she's also very nice to people.

She likes to kill rabbits and mice and eat their heads and then leave their decapitated bodies in the driveway for everyone to see.

How badass is that

Spaceman Spiff 02-13-2010 01:15 PM

Pretty badass.

One time one of my dogs killed a rabbit. We saw her playing in the snow with something red. It looked like a towel at first, then we realized it was a bloody and nearly dead rabbit. Another time she killed a mouse. Just pawed it to death.
