Thursday isn't necessarily downbeat...it's just dudes writing emotional music. I wouldn't say it's all depressing, although some songs certainly deal with depressing topics, i.e., Dying in New Brunswick.
Sometimes I like the think the only reasons I'm alive today are because of 2 songs that let me know I'm not alone in how I feel about where I live: Cross Out the Eyes - Thursday Division Street - Thursday I hate this place so much but those songs let me know Geoff felt the same way but he's doing OK now. Also, the album Jane Doe by Converge helped me out tons. I still cry at the end of the very last song when Jacob screams, "Run on, girl, run on." I swear he wrote that album about Brittany and me. Lyrics for it: http://www.darklyrics.com/lyrics/converge/janedoe.html#1 If it wasn't for that album, I honestly don't think I'd be here right now. :( -Gav
Um, Gav, it's not upbeat. The downbeat gets the emphasis, not the up as in Ska. You're a musician :p Oh Gav you're so emo :-* But it's ok, I still love you. :) PS: Guys, Gaby is filling my playlist with Latin music, make requests damnit... |
Oooooooohhhh! I get it!
I'm hardly a musician. I suck at bass; trust me. :) I still love you, too, big guy. <3 I'm stoked for Holy Cross. Wooooo! -Gav |
Whoa, change of opinion?
Yeah...the science department there is insanely good, specifically the chem program (one of the top 10 best undergrad chem programs in the nation). I'm going to double major in chemistry with a concentration on biochemistry and physics. :D Butler: Yeah, you mentioned that. Congrats! Holy Cross is something like that around here. I know it's ranked high on the list of best colleges in the nation on the Princeton Review thing, I'm just not sure what number. -Gav |
Excellent, I'm glad you're happier Gav :)
Nice to hear the schools didn't keep you down. |
I'm still disappointed about Yale but whatever.
I read a statistic online. I'm mad at myself for forgetting where, but it said: Statistics show that 44% of freshman admitted into Yale in 2006 were from nations outside of the US. Only 10% of those students were from Canada and The UK. Basically, almost half of the Yale Class of 2010 is from nations other than the United States. I'm as liberal as they come but that upset me. -Gav |
You guys suck, no one does FL.
|
Hehe, well remember Gav, those kids from other countries probably are the top students in their respective countries and to be honest probably are more qualified than you.
EDIT: I did, then someone dibsed and never did it :-\ |
Vince: None taken, but I highly doubt all 44% were the top or near the top in their respective countries. They were probably just like me but they had that competitive edge. It's just a sad truth.
-Gav |
I don't know. I mean, think about how many fabulous school we have in America, and how spread out our top students are among them. Then think about how many great schools they have elsewhere (none, really). So all of those out-of-country kids are probably the best of the very best.
|
Oh man, i just thaught, i have 5 days left in college, ever.
Im scared for uni. |

Eh, maybe...I still don't totally buy it. ;) I've been in denial the whole time, though. -Gav |
Denial ftw.
No, but I feel the same as you but only opposite, sort of. Like I got into Cornell, but I'm always left to wonder if it wasn't because I'm a minority or not. :-\ |
"Miami" is such a good song. It's sooooo corny, though.\
Sup people. Snap, i'll be back in like, 30 minutes. |

Like I got into Cornell, but I'm always left to wonder if it wasn't because I'm a minority or not. :-\
Honestly, I have no idea, but I bet it's because you're a great student. :thumb: I know exactly why I was rejected: I'm white, my mom and dad are together, not a minority, have no learning disabilities, don't know any alumni or anyone important, and I lived close to all the colleges I applied to. :( Maybe that's me being cynical or it's just me being brutally honest. Yo cobert. -Gav |
Gav: Yeah but all of those apply to me except minority, distance and possibly learning disability but they don't know the latter.
|
You have a learning disability? :amaze:
I never knew... -Gav |
Eh, I might. Or something along those lines.
I may be mildly autistic, have some degree of add, that kinda stuff. My little bro is worse off as he actually had to take speech classes for his autism poor kid :( |
Man season 3 of 24 is so good <3

If there's pizza, the crust must be continuous without any breaks. If someone takes slices from the pizza and the pizza's crust has breaks in it, I have to push the pizza together. I go crazy. What else... I always turn the light on, off, then back on when coming into a room. etc. They're just really weird. -Gav |

I cant stand that either, i cant see why people have to take certain pieces that mess everything up. So this medication i took for a rash only works if i sweat the medication out of me through my pores. I dont sweat easily, so to make it happen, i turned ont he shower with hot water, closed the bathroom door, and did sit ups. In about 10 minutes, the room was filled with steam, i had super-tight abs, and i didnt sweat much. |

It's all an issue of control.
210 artists right here  /can you go to brandons site and upload some stuff that interests you for me? :p
Perhaps O:-) Or you could just join the mailing list :p Man, I'm almost done with my playlist for tonight. It basically rocks. |

Check out the thread nub :p Brian: That's sweet, I thought about getting that SA vinyl but it's my least favorite of the three :( I wish they had the other two. I'd love that VR one though. |
I'm off, guys. Later! Good to be back to chill with you guys.

Dave: I don't know how to count the artists in my library, but I probably have 4 times that. |
