that sucks.
i think i may minor in journalism. |
I'm jealous.
The best part is I'm technically a music minor...but every time I try to regiter for 2nd sem music theory (which is required in the minor), it says the class is for music majors only and I'm not allowed to take it. Touche music school.
I get to take theory II this semester /is a music major |
that sucks.
i think i may minor in journalism.
My gf was gonna double major in that and psych, but she's changing it to communications now.
I get to take theory II this semester /is a music major
Hehe...music majors. O:-) |
Hehe...music majors. O:-)
I'll be one soon. :) It's a good feeling. |
My gf was gonna double major in that and psych, but she's changing it to communications now.
double majors scare me. i barely know what i'm doing now. |
I'll be one soon. :) It's a good feeling.
Eh, I could never justify spending that much money on it. Much as I'd love to learn it all.
double majors scare me. i barely know what i'm doing now.
They scare me too...but then again I'm an engineer as is so..eh. |
Eh, I could never justify spending that much money on it. Much as I'd love to learn it all.
It's the only thing I truly enjoy doing, so it wouldn't make sense for me to dedicate the rest of my life to something else. I've thrown around other ideas, but music is the only sure thing for me. |

Ah, it's the same feeling for me. But I also happen to be good at math and science. So I'm going to school for Electrical engineering, to apply in the field of music. |

Eh, everyone ends up hating how they earn their bread. I'd rather it be dermatology than music ;) |
Yeah, I'm going into Metallurgy, which is a tough course, but earns you a lot of money.
|
I love music so much and some of the Peabody professors are kinda surprised I'm not majoring in music composition, but I just couldn't do that to one of the major loves of my life :-)
|
Exactly. I love music too much to risk getting bored with it/mucking it up.

I planning on teaching, how can you not love to teach your passion? |
Exactly. I love music too much to risk getting bored with it/mucking it up.
How come you have a DragonForce album in your avatar but no Rhapsody? :-(
I planning on teaching, how can you not love to teach your passion?
Good luck...Very few people are talented enough to become gen ed music teachers who get paid somewhat decently. |
I planning on teaching, how can you not love to teach your passion?
Teaching is probably the last thing I want to do unfortunately. Being a private instructor wouldn't be so bad, but teaching a class would be hell for me. I'm no teacher and I don't want to force the issue. |

Teaching at schools is really the only viable, albeit insanely competitive and difficult, option for anyone who wants to do something with music. What are you planning on doing exactly? |

I really want to do session work, but I need a real job incase that doesn't happen.
Then go into computers. I'd rather have a job that lets me buy all the gear and recording equipment I want than a music job that doesn't. |

Like said its not about the money. They make credit cards for reason:p |
How come you have a DragonForce album in your avatar but no Rhapsody? :-(
I couldn't decide which album. |

I'm not sure yet. I have a general direction as to what I want to do (that being music) but I'm not sure where to go from there. Luckily I have plenty of time to decide. I have a feeling that I'll end up teaching anyway, since it does take money to survive. |
I really wish people in the religion debate thread knew what they were talking about.
Like said its not about the money.
They make credit cards for reason:p
Eh, I've known a lot of amazing music teachers in my life so far...A lot of them regret it. If you have a definite talent in science, math, business, or whatever...Please don't throw that away just because you like music a lot. You can be very happy with music if you aren't earning your bread that way but it rarely works the other way around. That's the word they always want me to spread to the youth of today, heh.
I couldn't decide which album.
Oh, come on! Dawn of Victory is the obvious choice :-) |
I planning on teaching, how can you not love to teach your passion?
Trust me, if you're gonna give private lessons, you'll hate it after about a year. My dad's a guitar teacher, among other guitar related things, and EVERY DAY I have to hear about his stories of students who don't practice and have no idea what they're doing. |

The guy just has a way of convincing anybody to practice and enjoy their music. |

Steerpike, you might want to add another notch to your noobs pwning stick :-D |

Yea, but I'm guessing your guitar teacher doesn't teach at a "music school", where many rich people bring their 8 and 9 year old kids to play guitar, even though the kids obviously don't want to do it. |

Btw steerpike your posts in the religion thread are actually making me laugh |
Yeah, but what about the cover for Symphony Of Enchanted Lands II!
Oh...Are we going by musical quality or the badassness of the album covers? :p |
