I'm going to record Tick and Leeches in two parts. I'll do one all the way up to the interlude, then start with it. If I do it all at once I lose some stamina and the end sounds sketchy.

So, what are we doing for the interlude again? Two phrases? Measures?

Lateralias 06-28-2005 10:56 PM

Well I don't know if I'll do it for sure... I'm a noob at recording stuff.. so my tone might sound really crap.. but I'll give it a shot.

Any tips on recording from a mic on a computer though?

ThePatient 06-28-2005 11:09 PM

Hey, I've never recorded anything serious before either, so we can n00b it together.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-28-2005 11:15 PM

Sliptallica- Sounds good. 2 phrases I think sound right.

Lateralias- Put the mic close to the amp, and put it on low volume. Not too low, or you will hear your strings in the background(my problem sometimes) but quiet enough that the mic doesn't start sounding super crackly.

Patient- You'll learn soon enough. I just started recording with this project, really. It's a simple process.

What programs are you guys using to record? If you dont have anything yet, check out Audacity. It works well for me and most peopel in this thread. :thumb:

Awesome.. thanks for that tip Jake. I'm using Audacity too.. getting the basics of it down fairly quick.

Alright Patient :p thank goodness I'm not alone!

ThePatient 06-28-2005 11:23 PM

I've had Audacity for a long time, but when I could never get the mp3 part to work, I gave up on it. But I got the encoder I needed when I got some other thing and now it works, so I'm using it again.

Futuro 06-28-2005 11:24 PM

i used audacity for a while, its a cool program but you need like some lame converter or somthin

/not quite sure what im talkin bout :p

Mr Herb 06-28-2005 11:25 PM

When I record ill be the ultimate n00b. lol. Ill be gpoing in circles just to pulg the dam mic into the comp.

Lateralias 06-28-2005 11:27 PM

Ahh I'm horrible when it comes to creating feedback.. I need help on how to get feedback similar to Adam's on T&L.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-28-2005 11:29 PM

I coud link you to the LAME converter if you guys need...It's right on the Audacity website you pansies!!

Lateralias- Use artificial harmonics on the 12th frets. That's what I do most of the time for that song. I can never get enough sustain out of it though. :-/ Just expiriment a bit.

Err... I don't know about that.. well you can try the noise removal effect.. but I really haven't toyed with it too much so I'm doubting it will really take out the vocals only.

Mr Herb 06-29-2005 10:48 AM

Do not say such things, i was not in the right frame of mind for enjoying anything that night...but waiting up till 2 o'clock praying they would play shiver...then bieng bitterly dissapointed and angry that they didn't, adding to my sh!t awful mood. Was not good. They played everything's not lost though, so bieng ironic, all wasn't lost. Though they should really play shiver @ every show, it is their best song by far.
