Kayetan 01-14-2008 09:17 PM

nobody showed up to your four tet club meeting?

Liebensaft 01-14-2008 09:19 PM

Did anyone see the episode of MADE tonight where this super white kid from Massachusetts tries to get turned into a rapper? It's ridiculous. The kid's name is Colin for christ's sake.

Thanks 01-14-2008 09:21 PM

My roommate's name last year was Colin. He could sing the "Iron Man" riff and beatbox at the same time. Very white and short.

Bordello 01-14-2008 09:23 PM

I figured out how to overdub on my four-track. I am stupid.

Kayetan 01-14-2008 09:24 PM
I'm DJing at a lounge tomorrow night. Makes me feel like a superstar.
how'd you get into doing that? im interested in djing and stuff but im pretty lost as to where to start out.

Kayetan 01-14-2008 10:22 PM

for dj ing, you will need
1 2 pair good head phones
2 turn to two turn tables
3 mc skills
$ trip hop on vinyl
tilde
a venue
friends who will show you how to dj (mx may be able to give this to you)

sexymuffin 01-14-2008 10:24 PM
how'd you get into doing that? im interested in djing and stuff but im pretty lost as to where to start out.
turntables
a focused vinyl collection (like pick a couple genres you want to spin extensively and build your collection from there)
good ears and a lot of practice with matching tempos and making transitions

it's too difficult for me i know that much

YDload 01-14-2008 10:26 PM

i never want to be a DJ and i have nothing but contempt for the entire "culture" of people who think they're special for putting on music

(*The Noonward Race*) 01-14-2008 10:27 PM
i never want to be a DJ and i have nothing but contempt for the entire "culture" of people who think they're special for putting on music
but sometimes they put on music twice! at once!

okay 01-14-2008 10:29 PM

i was thinking more along the lines of modern djs, like getting Kontakt 2 or something and getting something to queue up samples and stuff.

sexymuffin 01-14-2008 10:31 PM
i was thinking more along the lines of modern djs, like getting Kontakt 2 or something and getting something to queue up samples and stuff.
if it doesn't involve vinyls and turntables there's no real point in doing it tbh

Kayetan 01-14-2008 10:31 PM

if you go on the foxnews forums, there's a djing subforum

Kayetan 01-14-2008 10:33 PM

tape loops are a good idea, btw

YDload 01-14-2008 10:34 PM
tape loops are a good idea, btw
only 8-tracks have the tape in a loop, the other ones you gotta rewind to get back to the beginning

Montana 01-14-2008 10:34 PM
how'd you get into doing that? im interested in djing and stuff but im pretty lost as to where to start out.
I'm really just doing it through the college radio station here. Any DJ at the station can do it, you don't even have to know any of that "beat matching" mumbo-jumbo or whatever. Also, all the equipment belongs to one of the bartenders. It's picking what songs to play, trying to fade them together, and regulating the volume levels.

okay 01-14-2008 10:36 PM

yeah thats the type of DJing that i was talking about

sexymuffin 01-14-2008 10:40 PM

boring
boring
yea like thats not even really djing thats just playing songs on a turntable..

Kayetan 01-14-2008 10:43 PM

hey perriwinkle, you should try to play some karl blau songs on your show

perriwinkle 01-14-2008 10:48 PM

i will remember this for next week. were you listening this afternoon? hopefully theyve got some of his stuff at the WUVT station because if not they don't like me bringing in stuff, i can do it and play it if it's 256kbps or up, but they encourage me not to. and i dont even have any of his stuff right now anyway

Glitterati 01-14-2008 10:51 PM

I am lifting weights using my cat as a weight.

I expect to be strong like bull.
