It's been alright this week, but the past few weeks the server has been pretty dodgy.

This server is a steaming diarrheal pile of shi[font=verdana]t[/font], but the reason for PMs not being enabled is because on a board of this size (you have to consider all the forums, not just R&M), it wouldn't be logistically sound.

Four potential alternatives:

- PM via the reputation system
- Ask the person you want to communicate with to e-mail you in a community thread
- Look at his/her profile and look up contact info
- Smoke signals

But what specifically is not logistically sound about it?

A certain big-name metal forum is a LOT bigger than MX and it has a pm system. It probably has a better server, but that goes against the size argument.

I doubt I'd actually get that many PMs. :-/

But it served to illustrate one of the two main reasons that the PM system has been rebuked by Jeremy a number of times.

If you let one person get away with not properly rating what the user above him is listening to, then everyone is going to think they can do the same, and authority would lose the day. What would become of this board if the user above never got to properly see what user below thought of what he was listening to?

I'm just kidding around. I had just woken up and I was a little irritable in the "rate" thread and I got pissed when my great NP (it's one of my favorite songs) was disregarded by some guy who thinks maybe if he hears the song he'll give it a 6/10 just cuz.

But it's no big deal he's not a bad guy.
