Six Organs of Admittance

I'm just getting enveloped in this stuff because it's so damn nice out.

65 degrees in March in Center Pennsylvania.

Hah.

YDload 03-30-2006 05:45 PM

Yeah today was a nice day to be in PA.

Anyway I'm still attached to those bands with "Bear" in their names as stated in that one thread. I dig things slowly!

Zmev 03-30-2006 07:58 PM

Velvet Underground - Live at Max's
Tom Waits - Swordfishtrombones
Beatles - Revolver

Zebra 03-30-2006 08:07 PM
Tom Waits - Swordfishtrombones
That's what I've been diggin' all day.

Dog 03-30-2006 08:10 PM

Polaris - Music From the Adventures of Pete & Pete

It's great. Really.

pixiesfanyo 03-30-2006 09:16 PM

The National - Alligator

So, yeah. This is ridiculously good.

Iai 03-31-2006 07:17 AM

Tom Waits - Swordfishtrombones
Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes
Van Morrison - Moondance

ATM 03-31-2006 08:06 AM

Sage Francis - Healthy Distrust

definantly in my top 3 favorite mc's

asymm 03-31-2006 12:16 PM

Black Heart Procession - The Spell
Band of Horses - Everything All The Time
Giving this another shot, because I think that if I just enjoy it for what it is instead of the comparisons I could end up pretty pleased with it.

asymm 03-31-2006 02:51 PM

Annie - Anniemal
This is much better than I originally thought. "Heartbeat" is irresistible. Makes me pretty damn interested in her follow-up record.

Die.

Ornery Cephalopod 03-31-2006 03:36 PM

the string tribute to Slayer

some of it is pretty unimpressive, but some of it is neat.

also, my buddy and me have been jammin' to a Sabbath mix the past few days

Sound Boy 03-31-2006 04:33 PM

Explosions in the Sky
Derek Trucks Band
and i have offically jumped on the Arctic Monkeys bandwagon. they're just soo damn good

Davii 03-31-2006 04:59 PM

Hey i am new to this but just wanna let you guys know what im into. Big coldplay and Oasis fan. Like Arctic Monkeys and all upbeat sorta stuff but am also into Sigur Ros and have found no one else who lieks them. Let me know if u do

YDload 03-31-2006 05:31 PM
Die.
It's true, Family Guy pretty much sucks now. Nothing but flashbacks and bringing back one-shot characters for no real reason. Why the fuck would you have Peter fight a giant chicken for five minutes AGAIN?

Bukowski 03-31-2006 07:11 PM

The Stooges
The Cows
Xiu Xiu

Contamination by the Cows is one of my favorite songs, i've decided.

Zappa 03-31-2006 07:23 PM

Lots of Harmonia today. And Magazine in the morning.

JonM 03-31-2006 07:44 PM

I've been digging the year 1997, as well as records released in that year, such as:

Incubus - S.C.I.E.N.C.E.
Radiohead - OK Computer
Björk - Homogenic
Blur - Blur
Elliott Smith - Either/Or

That was quite a year.

indy_undy 03-31-2006 11:28 PM

Is it worth ordering in any Shocking Pinks or Beat Happening albums through a record store, and if so which ones?

I've been digging the new Two Gallants and Ben Harper albums and some GY!BE. I'm seeing Harper in a couple of weeks which should be awesome if his live recordings are anything to go by.

Robert Crumb 04-01-2006 01:27 AM
Is it worth ordering in any Shocking Pinks or Beat Happening albums through a record store, and if so which ones?
I like Beat Happening's You Turn Me On the most. But mostly because "Teenage Caveman." I think it's worth purchasing.

Listening to Ghostface still. Many kinds of awesome. The Ghostface/Doom album will definitely be pretty interesting judging from their stuff here.

Interstate 04-01-2006 04:14 AM

Big L - Lifestyles Ov Da Poor & Dangerous

Doesn't get any more gangster than that.

asdf 04-01-2006 08:49 AM

I'm giving fugazi a chance. I downloaded 13 songs, but I want to get another one. I like it, but not as much as I thought I would.

Still, I love Ian Mackaye.

Happymeal 04-01-2006 09:04 AM

^You might like their more experimental works, like Red Medicine or End Hits
Black Heart Procession - The Spell
How is it? I'm hoping it's more like Amore than their older stuff.

16 Horsepower - Folklore

Thanky Zmev.

Hail Social - s/t

Nothing out of the ordinary, but I like their style of catchy dance/indie rock.

asymm 04-01-2006 10:38 AM
How is it? I'm hoping it's more like Amore than their older stuff.
Unfortunately I'm not familiar with other Black Heart Procession material. After only one listen I enjoyed it, but it mostly glossed over me. An earnest, indie rock record, but not something that truly grabbed me the first time. I'll listen to it again soon.

He's one of the greatest ever, IMO.

The Chameleons- What Does Anything Mean Basically
Matisyahu - Youth
Ween - Pure Guava
The Books - Lemon of Pink and Lost and Safe

ATM 04-01-2006 11:01 AM

Quasi - The Sword of God (drummer from SK and bassist from Elliott Smith)
Beastie Boys - Hello Nasty (forgot how good this was)
Meat Puppets - II
Tapes n Tapes - The Loon
Hexstatic - Master View ( get this now, amazing electronica)

Glitterati 04-01-2006 12:36 PM

Today is just gonna be an Elvis Costello day, methinks.

The Great Decay 04-01-2006 01:22 PM

I'm giving Blazing Arrow a listen for the first time.

Bukowski 04-01-2006 04:21 PM

Flaming Lips - Clouds Taste Metallic
Flaming Lips - Hit to Death in the Future Head
Flaming Lips - Transmissions from the Satellite Heart

Nothing beats rediscovering bands you used to love but kinda stopped listening to, and finding that they're just as good as you remember. Man, the Flaming Lips are perfect.

Matt? 04-01-2006 04:29 PM

bunkbed and only bunkbed

Zappa 04-01-2006 04:42 PM

Haven't been listening to stuff, because I got the powercable for my new synthesizer. And it's amazing.

incufreak411 04-01-2006 04:49 PM

coldplay, willie nelson, incubus, the coma lilies, coltrane, muse, the brian jonestown massacre, the el paso hiest, the reject squad wins again, how bout some cheese?, the beatles, traffic

I like how they exist outside of time. As in, the songs on Clouds Taste Metallic could have been written any time in the past 25 years, and maybe even several decades into the future. They aren't dated at all!

The Great Decay 04-01-2006 05:46 PM

Saul Williams - Saul Williams

Daniel! 04-01-2006 08:56 PM

World/Inferno Friendship Society
Subhumans
X

I saw World/Inferno and the Subhumans on Thursday and have been listening to them nonstop ever since.

Zebra 04-01-2006 09:53 PM

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
