Floyd>The Dead.
Which is why i'm voting for them in the poll.
++THE TRUTH |
Floyd>All
|
^Youre back!
You used to post in here all the time. Floyd > or = to Grateful Dead |
Good way to stop the arguement guys.
|
Yea man! I voted in both polls. I think I missed some, so I'm gonna go check.
|
You just admit the diversity is there.
I said there was diversity, but Jpj stated they are more diverse than the Dead.
The Grateful Dead is far less diverse than Floyd.
I'm just working off of this post.
So The Dead are more diverse. So what? Metallica is pretty diverse.... doesn't stop them from sucking. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to directly compare Metallica to the Dead, or say that the Dead suck, but diversity doesn't make the band. I mean, the Stones aren't all that diverse, but they totally rock. Ultimately, this whole thing is nothing more than an opinion argument, because the factors that make a band "great" are entirely subjective. You say Garcia is a better writer than Barrett, but some people say the guys from Linkin Park blow both of them out of the water.
Okay, this can be summed up easily, I believe Floyd are diverse, just not as diverse as The Dead. |
Sorry I wasn't here to answer back or join the chat (I was at the airport). But if you want to continue this in the chat, sure.

Personally, I don't think Floyd's all that diverse. Mostly just dreamy, psychadelic rock. That doesn't stop me from liking them however. In my opinion, they are the greatest band. Ever. I don't enjoy the Dead a whole lot, but based on the instruments badmoon said they use, I'd say they are more diverse.
+opinion/rant |
I'm not a big Pink Floyd fan. There are some individual songs I enjoy, but overall, they are just to depressing for me.
|
I'm just a little confused as to why people are arguing. I mean, its entirely opinion based, and no one is going to change anyone else's mind.
|
What the hell is that supposed to mean?
Im just saying A.B. wasn't that diverse all it was mainly acoustic with a delicate layered vocals.(except for Truckin) Now I'm not saying this album is bad I love it but..... Its not that diverse but thats my opinion |
Obviously you need to take a closer look. There are heavy amounts of Electric everywhere, organ, and pedal steel. Let alone a lot of it is overdubbed, stacked, 3D recorded, and layered.
|

Why do politicians have debates? Why do news channels have Debate shows? |
What do you mean by 3D recorded
|
Each instrument was recorded seperatley, they may not call it that now, but they did then.

Not really Badmoon made reasonable point and maybe Ill cheak out a little more Dead...and maybe not |
The Beatles did that..I think

Read the booklet that comes with the CD on the 1st page it even says and I quote "Many of the tracks dont even have instrumental breaks" |

Does that matter? |
No not really
|
I like Pink Floyd and Grateful Dead. No matter how many instruments they play.
Badmoon, sorry for being a douche in the other forums. |
End this arguement!
This would be a good debate topic. |
But if you use 3d recording, you don't get that sweet echo effect when the vocals leak into the drum mics :thumb:
(Plant on Whole Lotta Love, just about 4:00 minutes) |

Still 3D recordings are way better
|
No seriously! Listen to that part! Its sweet! I even left the time!
|
Still 3D recordings are way better
Yea but if the band doesn't use 3D recordings, then you feel alittle more like it's a "live" recording. Any you know what they play in the studio, they can play live as well. (Obviously the Beatles and the Dead can play live, thats not what I was refering to.) It just seems more real to me if you don't 3D record. |

I agree. I decided if I was in a band, I would try both, but prefer non 3D, and only use it a little. It seems more authentic to me that way. |
The Beatles really didn't do that many live shows...
|

Rooftop Concert was sweet though. |
