It's on their reunion album that was just released a couple of weeks ago, I think. From what I've heard it's not good, but they had a few really solid albums throughout the 80's. Check out the one Nacho mentioned for their best.
The video for that song led me to believe they were a relatively new band. They look fairly young. They don't look old enough to have been making music in the 80s anyway. They look more like they were born in the 80s. |
Goodshirt - Fiji Baby
I'd forgotten how much I love this shit. It's like a pill popping Pixies, mixed with some lovely acousitc numbers and drenched in fuzzy, weird-pop goodness. |

I'm listening to some Velvet Underground now. It's not that great really.

^woah, he speaks truth for once.

Most are probably (relative) young'uns. The band doesn't really have much of a consistent lineup. And yeah, "All the Young Children On Crack" is horrible. But some of the stuff I've heard from the rest of their album is more in tune to what they do, clumsy indie pop stuff. I haven't read the Pitchfork review on Fishscale but if it's positive, then they've got it right. It's much better than Pretty Tony, which really wasn't even all that good in the first place except for like three songs. I'm loving the guest spots for dead people on this album, too. |
Is 'Pac on it?
|
No, but Biggie is.

well i know Zappa doesnt like em that much, but he's pretty hard on a lot of A/I favorites so that doesn't really mean much. but then i listen to them and I don't really understand all the fuss. this sounds like bob dylan, but it's not Bob Dylan to me. if you get my drift |

if you get my drift
Yeah minutemen, blah blah... thats a cool song though. Weird War - Illuminated by the Light. Picked this up at their show last week, it's fun. it's no Make Up or NoU, but it's still pretty cool. Plus the artwork is bitxhin'. |
Parkway Drive
After a wierd day, I'm finding them pretty relaxing. |
VU's kind of boring, except for "Heroin", White Light/White Heat, and the self-titled album. Oh, and Loaded. So basically everything is good.
Ok I will admit to liking White Light/White Heat, if only for cultures sake. But it's still pretty boring stuff. |
Joy Division - Substance (The first Joy Division stuff I've heard apart from Love Will Tear Us Apart. Good.)
Bauhaus - In The Flat Field Belle & Sebastian - Tigermilk |
Built to Spill
yip yip |
R.E.M. - Murmur
|
Imogen Heap - Speak For Yourself - the intro to "Loose Ends" has been stuck in my head all day.
I wish my Ipod would stop crashing :upset: |

At first I was kind of let down with their mellowing out and all, but it's still a groovy and fairly consistent album. MF Doom - Mm.. Food It has great beats.. and it makes me hungry. |
Frank Sinatra - Songs For Swingin' Lovers
Can't beat a bit of Ol' Blue Eyes. |

Well, that explains it. I dug Beck - Guero yesterday, and I think it's a better album than a lot of people gave it credit for. I'm seeing The Drones tonight, so today I shall be digging them amongst some other stuff. |
Mr. Bungle
Jimmy Chamberlin Complex Yeah Yeah Yeahs |
The Bronx - S/T
Makes me want to break things. |
I'm discovering that I owe more to Incubus than to any other band. They spawned every musical phase I've ever had, and I thought for a long time that they were just a starting point, but I've come to realize that they really are going to be one of my all time favorite bands.
|
gregor samsa and sweet billy pilgrim at the moment. both bands i've never heard anyone mention anywhere, but they are simply amazing. so much talent going unrecognised.
|
Band Of Horses - Everything All The Time
Youth Group - Skeleton Jar The Cars - S/T T.Rex - Electric Warrior XTC - Drums And Wires Death In Vegas - Scorpio Rising Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - S/T Devendra Banhart - Rejoicing In The Hands Explosions In The Sky - The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place Magazine - Real Life Santana - S/T Slint - Tweez The Fiery Furnaces - Gallowbirds Park Wolf Parade - Apologies To The Queen Mary |
Good stuff.
|
Cursive - Domestica
Pavement - Slanted & Enchanted |
Joy Division - Peel Sessions (Complete BBC Recordings)
I think I'm finally becoming a Joy Division fanboy. She's Lost Control is mesmerizing. |

Menos El Oso
Oso Contra Tiburon Good bands, but I've said plenty on them already. BVS has an amazing bassist; check out his solo at the end of "The Employee Is Not Afraid." |
She Wants Revenge
Nightmare of You Editors Stellastarr* Ours |
R.E.M. - Murmur
Possibly my favorite album of all time. |
Well, that explains it.

I wanna see 'em so, so, so sososososos bad. It makes me die a little just thinking about it. Man I love them. |
This evening's soundtrack:
Yes - Close to the Edge Morphine - Yes Kraftwerk - Autobahn |
It's been an Elvis Costello - This Year's Model kind of day.
|
Slim Thug - Already Platinum
I've been going through some albums looking for Pharrell guest spots. Sticking with this one for a second. I like Pharrell. I wonder how well he'll be able to carry a solo album. I also listened to some other stuff today. |
The Wipers - Youth of America
Great, great piece of punk right thurr. I see a lot of these guys in Dino Jr... and Hot Snakes. I love Hot Snakes, I miss them. Anyone got any updates for cousin Tangy on what Reis/Froberg are doing? Dilated Peoples I've made my own "greatest hits" from their first 3 albums and various b-sides/rarities. Man they used to illllll. |
Boy Hits Car! I've got that album, and I've got one of their early local ones too! It's called My Animal, and though some of the songs appeared later on the s/t, the versions are much different, and the other material definitely makes it worth having. If you'd like it, holla at a playa.
I would like to hear it, but can't be sent it because I'm away from my real computer for about a month. |

That means she didn't go. Poo. I bought a second copy of Penance Soiree. It was $5 and I figured my friend could really use it. |
Scratch Acid - The Greatest Gift
Melvins - Gluey Porch Treatments Mudhoney - Superfuzz Bigmuff Brainiac - Hissing Prigs In Static Couture and lots and lots of the Jesus Lizard |
Calexico - Garden Ruin
Their new album leaked. I miss their older Black Light/Hot Rail style, but ignoring that, this is quite nice so far. |
