post a link when it is
also can you hear hoppstock's breathing on the record you gave me? i cant figure if its his breathing through his nose or the scuffling of his hand/cloth against the guitar. its been sort of distracting since i first noticed it, but i actually kinda like it when i think of it as his breathing |
yeah it'll be his breathing
breath is an extremely useful cueing/phrasing device |
Tell me you videoed it?
I can't believe that 'videoed' is actually a word.
When you consider the word "sheeps" appears in the OED, "videoed" doesn't bother me. Makes sense in fact. "Sheeps" is an abomination. |

You have got to be kidding me. Why would sheeps need to be a word, never mind the in dictionary? |
You have got to be kidding me.
Why would sheeps need to be a word, never mind the in dictionary?
Pandering to the lowest common denominator and/or the woeful failure of schools and parents to educate their children in their own language to even a basic level. I suppose it could be a particularly dull urban legend. |
It's a verb
"That shit really sheeps me, you know? When they put made up words in the dictionary?" |

Lod, a question:
Watching something like Jersey Shore or one of its many new spin offs because you like it is just plain wrong, but what about watching it because you hate them and want to laugh at how ridiculous it all is? I'm coming down on the side of "You're still watching Jersey Shore, there is no redemption for you". Thoughts? |
I don't really watch much TV, when I do it's generally on demand stuff on the internet, and I more or less avoid reality TV like the plague. Oh and ITV. That sucks.
So yeah, I can't really comment on jersey/geordie shore (which I've been hearing no end of up here in newcastle...). But on principle, I'm just not gonna watch it. |
Britains got talent. :|
hasn't been off tv all this week its abysmal! little tipsy atm, went to a friends got half way thru a 4 hr japanese film and came home, pretty tired, got a haircut today doin alrite, jamin in a nice studio in 8 hrs, ireland match tomorrow evening... good bank holiday planed, :) OHHH HAAAAI LOD. |
I don't find anything wrong with watching a horrible show once just to see how shitty it is for yourself, but if you find yourself watching it again there might be something wrong. For example I only watched jersey shore long enough to see that snookie girl get punched in the face, still glad I did.

i read one of those women hello magazines today getting my haircut in a womens hairdressers
a dude with super long hair walked by and we had eye contact for about 4 seconds as i was sitting in the charir, it was intense |
hey this is an amateur question that doesn't warrant a thread (i figure one of you dudes could answer this in like a second)...
i just bought a guitar with two pickups (bridge and "middle") but i want to take out the middle pickup leaving only the bridge. after taking the pickup out would that turn the pickup selector into a kill switch? maybe stupid but i've actually never swapped out pickups before (i've been blessed with guitars with nice pickups)... the only real reason i want to take this pickup out is to make my guitar look cool anyways... but a killswitch would be a plus as well |
It should work 'cause there won't be a signal going to the amp in the empty position.
|
Wire the unused wires that would have gone to the middle position to ground.
And Al: http://www.maxfarquar.com/2011/06/ronan-parke-simon-cowell-britains-got-talent-fix-letter-in-full/ SYCO's already had it taken down on another site |
Sup gents.
Had the second to last exam today, went pretty well. Looking like postgrad might be possible after all... however I've got 24 hours to revise for my next exam and I've more or less only just covered the material, not done any examples or anything o.O Then for beaches and nights out and parties and hilarity until the end of the school year. Hurrah! |
was jamin there on sat wasnt happy with some pedalboard shizzle so i rewired and sorted out any issues with the pedals today all neat and cordinated

i swear my guitar teacher is being such an arsehole
he didn't show up to my recital, which is ok i guess, not a particularly good move if you want to show that you take pride in your students but maybe he doesn't really care but then he sends me this message today:
Have you had your recital mark yet by any chance? I'm doing some external examining at Leeds College of Music tomorrow, and just had a thought that it would be useful to know your mark as a basis of comparison. If you could let me know ASAP (if you've got it) I'd appreciate it!
and i have no idea what to say because why should knowing the mark i got for my performance give him any idea of how he should be marking other performances, especially given the fact that he didn't even see the performance for which the mark has been given? whatsmore, isn't it pretty rude to just straight up ask for something like that? the insinuation is that he feels like he can judge my performance purely based on what he's seen in the 2 lessons we've had since i started learning these pieces. This is a guy who has never seen me perform. in the last lesson we had he said 'you're a great player and all, but i've never seen you do something that was actually finished, completely polished and presented' and i was like 'ok, then come to one of my performances because you're not going to get that from me when we tend to have two lessons a term or less'. i'm a completely different player when i'm performing, partly just out of lack of experience but i certainly don't play worse in my performances than when i'm practicing, usually quite the opposite. and he'll never know that in 3 years of teaching me. in fact, he didn't even ask how *I* felt about my performance, if I felt like i'd achieved my goals, got a good audience response or anything. so i send him this back:
No I haven't had the marks back yet, I'm assuming it'll take like a week. I don't really understand the frame of reference you got from my marks if you didn't see the concert though - are you correlating the marks with the programme, and my playing in the practice session? The recital went pretty well though.
and get this in return:
Somewhat pedantic, Niall... No, of course I wasn't at your recital, so can only guess at how you actually played based on my experience of you as well as my more general experience of how live performance affects the playing of myself, my students, colleagues etc. etc. etc. Around this time last year I did some external examining at Huddersfield, and it was really useful to compare with David's programme and mark.
fuck this cunt. i'm not playing ball with him. |
Yeah, fuck him off completely. That's like saying 'well, you did crap in the lectures, I'm assuming you did badly in the written exam' without even looking. That's pretty much undeniably unprofessional, might even be worth talking to someone higher up the pecking order to try and see if you can make sure someone gives it a fair mark, if you don't mind burning your bridges with this guy.
I mean, fuck, electronics lecturers are hard enough to deal with, can't imagine what arts lecturers/teachers are like. The only reason I havn't filed a huge list of complaints as of yet is because I wanna keep the department sweet for if I need to convince them me doing postgrad is a good idea. EDIT: Ah, I re-read and see what you mean, he's not actually marking it, he's just comparing someone else's performance to how he imagined yours would, then setting the marks in context? But yeah, still a shitty attitude. |
He's basically said "I don't need to see you perform I know how you would have done due to my years of experience etc etc". What a cum stain.
|
well we auditioned a potential new guitarist last night.
no good. seriously, there are no good non-widdling guitarists in Lincoln or the surrounding area. or none with enough balls to give it a go anyway. fucking bedroom players. |
finding people you like that actually work well is a bitch alrite
i started playing guitar with a friend of mine again, he records bass for some songs and is a good player, remember this song we made a couple of years ago before http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=4984052&q=hi&newref=1 ...its actually not bad /soundclick, anyone use it anymore? looks dangerously outdated twas before every to dick and harry decided to have music that could stream |

I still have a soundclick, but I only use it instead of sending files, like, if I want to send a test mix to the other band members I just chuck it on there, and since no-one really goes on it it's pretty much private.

Pretty sure you can make soundclick actually private. |
I'm not massively bothered if it is or not, just making a comment on how few people use it/view mine.
