|
EH?!
I know what DI's are. |
Also, I'm really happy for the first time since about October. I stopped being sad and started being awesome.
|
Yeah you've been posting consistently about your own awesomeness for some weeks now .
|
Yeah but I was only kidding then. But seriously, I am awesome.
I mean, I'm only kidding. But seriously. |

Whatchu sayin'? |
I'm doing some recording today. I can't wait to get some damn guitar down already.
|
My band recorded a demo over the holidays, but we've been stupid busy and so has my brother (he recorded us) so we still haven't finished mixing.
It's getting a little silly. |
That's cool. Do you guys play live much? Band name? Genre?
|
Mornin', y'all.
I get to do my taxes today. Yippee. |
Sup? Had a good band practice last night. Only taught one new song to the drummer, but we got that and the other 3 mostly perfected.
Also, got 2 other songs finished with vocals. Things need to be ironed out, but as it stands, we've got 14 songs completely finished now. |

Just looking at my ever-growing list of things to do. One thing on the list for this week is to straighten up my guitarist's pedal board. His levels keep getting adjusted because the pedals aren't fastened to his board, so I'm going to take care of it tonight after my math homework and he can stfu. Glad things are moving along so well for you, Ben. Congrats. I'm at the point in my writing where I'm not sure what ideas I want to bring to the table with the band. I currently have this beat poem written and a 15/8 riff to speak it over, then a 4/4 chorus that I sing. Seems a bit too avant-garde for the band, though. |
spam.

Really? Wow. Why? What's so bad about music school? |
music isnt a hobby anymore, nor is it even fun right now. its work, every day for long hours to see minimal improvements.
|
rule of life: never go to school for something that you love, because school sucks the love out of whatever you do
|
that's exactly why i didn't go to university. the only thing i'd have wanted to do is music. but i'd learnt from my college course that it wouldn't be a good plan. i finished college nearly two years ago and i still haven't recovered from the musical rut it put me in :/
|
oh and my cease.transmission is in the post now joe, cheers again for that big time you star :)
|
That's why I didn't go to university for film or music, two thing I *don't* want to ruin. I did go for writing though and it sapped some of that out of life for me. I'm considering changing course mid year, perhaps vet tech.
|
i changed my major for that reason. only took two courses to see what direction english was headed in.
|
Doing a music degree isn't all bad. It isn't all good either. You just need to keep your head above water and take from it what will benefit you without getting too caught up in the things you don't want to be caught up in.

http://www.myspace.com/rhinosaurusmusic Genre? I have no idea. Rock/jazz/experimental, I suppose. We gig once or twice a month. The recording that's there is from the demo, so it's mostly unmixed. We recorded it live. As for the music school thing, I can see your guys' point but agree with gaslight. I've gotten a lot better since I started my degree and I find it's allowing me to have even more fun playing bass than before. True, sometimes it's overwhelming and I definitely don't like every aspect of every class, but it sure hasn't ruined music for me in the slightest. I think the key is finding an outlet for playing the music you really want to play (for me, see above link), and it makes all the stuff that's not so great worthwhile. |
I will NEVER record bass before the guitars ever again. I have to re-record two songs on bass, and I'm really not looking forward to it.
|
why the **** does my last post keep getting cut off.
when we record with this band http://www.myspace.com/chicagogangwars we record drums and bass live (it's more fun and ends up being tighter, with us for some reason.) then everything else after. I like bass before guitars. |
