Left Shoe 09-28-2004 05:05 AM

theyve got some really random transcriptions.

FUNKNBASS 09-28-2004 05:53 AM

Yeah, but the magazine has a lot of really good content besides the transcriptions.

Alma 09-28-2004 06:50 AM

yeah u should subscribe.
us aussies have to pay up to 15 bucks for bass player coz its 100% import dammit. it stinks.

FUNKNBASS 09-28-2004 06:52 AM

Its like $20 for a subscription here in the states.

gaslight 09-28-2004 06:56 AM

So how much does an Australian subscription cost?

ocdrumandbass 09-28-2004 07:04 AM

i have never bought a copy, i always read it in the bookshop. who is going to pay $15 for such a small magazine?

gaslight 09-28-2004 07:11 AM

It's small?

I thought it was a full size mag.

:(

morpcat 09-28-2004 07:20 AM

Haha it's like 40 pages :upset:

Alma 09-28-2004 07:23 AM
So how much does an Australian subscription cost?
about 50 US dollars

gaslight 09-28-2004 07:28 AM

But I live in Australia :p.

That's like, $135+ Australian?

morpcat 09-28-2004 07:32 AM

:upset: That's only AUD 70 :upset:

gaslight 09-28-2004 07:34 AM

So this is why I used to fail maths.

xxxwookie 09-28-2004 07:51 AM

 Stupid countries and their stupidass dollars! :p

Foxfire 09-28-2004 08:00 AM

:p

I hate conversion. I've gotten into the habit of saying "USD" instead of "$" as of late. Why?

Person: "How much does X bass usually cost on stores?"
Me: "X $"
Person: "OMGWTF do you mean Aussie dollars, US dollars, British dollars (why they don't realize that I said DOLLARS not POUNDS is beyond me), Italian dollars (again...), <insert other really stupid thing to say>.

Of course, my friends don't know what "USD" means so they're like "WTFs a USD???"

*sigh*

xxxwookie 09-28-2004 08:05 AM

I use USD because the 4 key on the top line has gone missing (On UK keybpards that's where the $ sign is)

Foxfire 09-28-2004 08:08 AM

^ It's the same in the US.

$4$4$4$4$4$

We don't have a pound key. I imagine you guys do, though.

Right? :p

xxxwookie 09-28-2004 08:17 AM

yeah, shift 3. I'd be buggered without that

Saitoku 09-28-2004 08:20 AM

#

^my shift+3

xxxwookie 09-28-2004 08:23 AM

We actually have a # key. shift and # = ~

Wintermute 09-28-2004 09:08 AM

The worst is when they don't even go that far, and say they want a new bass for 1200.

£? US$? HK$? AU$? Yen? Euros? CA$?

We must guess.

gaslight 09-28-2004 09:09 AM

Yeah haha.

Like if I said my new bass is costing 1150, and you assumed it was American, that would be a fair bit hey?

Wintermute 09-28-2004 09:11 AM

If I assumed pounds it would be a fair bit more, and I tend to assume pounds.

morpcat 09-28-2004 09:23 AM

What really bugs me is when I remember that $ means peso, and that a dollar sign is an S with 2 lines through it.

gaslight 09-28-2004 09:24 AM

An American dollar has two signs through it, Australia's dollar just has one.

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 09-28-2004 09:39 AM

These past few posts have reminded me that i need a job.

Rollo47 09-28-2004 09:40 AM

Oh man.....
It's too late, I know, but I thought of the best title for this thread.

Casual 11: What you screaming for, Kevin?

*stumbles in, flops onto comfy chair, sips on coffee*

You guys, I just had the most AWESOME weekend. Spent two nights on Bourbon St. in New Orleans partying like I was 21- and realizing I wasn't the morning after.

Played an Ibanez SR305 at Guitar Center- it was the only 5 string they had out in my price range- and thought the B was not good, so as far as I'm concerned, no 34" 5 strings for me. But I did like the feel of the bass in general. Liked it MUCH better than my monster P.O.S. Squier, but considering the amount of money we blew in N.O., I won't be ponying up for a new bass for QUITE a while.

So anywho, I'm here at work, tired nearly senseless (YAY for caffeine!), and looking forward to heading home in 3 hours. I'll post pictures of the drunken debauchery later (and there was a TON, I tell you).

Don't you just hate not having the cash to buy better gear because of bills?

I always see people here talking about saving up for things that I won't have the money to buy for eight years.

Most of these people still live with their folks. :p

gaslight 09-28-2004 10:17 AM

^ Oath.

That's why I'm buying as much gear as possible before I move out, because it's the easiest way to get stuff.

When I move out I'll have to spend money on real things, so for now, while my financial situation is pretty sheltered, I get to stock up on the stuff that I hope will one day pay itself off many times over.

/Dreams... :(
