i think you will like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-TN_6bypoc

Meatplow 12-21-2009 09:44 PM

That was pretty cool, i've also seen that album cover before and never knew what it belonged to.

Aakon_Keetreh 12-21-2009 09:47 PM

yea infected mushroom is sick. ive seen them live. its like a full live band, but they play at raves and such. instead of just a DJ

Jaundice 12-21-2009 10:18 PM
Well, SPK is probably one of the more noise-orientated of the first wave acts but they have some musical elements as well that makes them fairly unique to me. If you haven't heard them try The Worst of Monte Cazazza and Throbbing Gristle's The Second Annual Report for that kind of dark, psychotic atmosphere if that is what you are after, just rattling off some obvious names though. On the other side of coin (more power electronics) try some Whitehouse, Great White Death has an intense, depressing atmosphere.
umm these aren't depressing at all

worst of is a good times record

Meatplow 12-21-2009 10:19 PM

yes yes we've gone over this left is right up is down for you with emotional quality in music etc.

Jaundice 12-21-2009 10:20 PM

idk it's not like party stuff but it's pretty relaxing and kind of fun-spirited

Meatplow 12-21-2009 10:36 PM
idk it's not like party stuff but it's pretty relaxing and kind of fun-spirited
When someone says "depressing" I generally just take that to mean dark and gloomy, sometimes through all this music can still manage to feel like a celebration of our hollow and decadent nature in a failed, crumbling western society that is slackwiring over a volcano waiting to fall into the flames.

Iggy Pop's The Idiot is a good example of this for me.

Jaundice 12-21-2009 10:38 PM

hmm ian curtis killed himself listening to that

im sure its depressing

Meatplow 12-21-2009 10:44 PM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3OaMZojJRg

Its really dark and murky, but upbeat party music at the same time.

Murdererer 12-21-2009 11:52 PM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3OaMZojJRg
that was pretty good

Meatplow 12-21-2009 11:55 PM

the rest of the album doesn't really change much from that overall feel

Lust For Life is a pretty good album as well, only stuff later than that i've heard is Blah-Blah-Blah which was some decent new wave and Avenue B which had a lot of horrible spoken word monologues and filler. Nothing on there was much good from what I remember, but it had Corruption, which is a pretty ****ing awesome song really.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrcL5DE8QuQ

Murdererer 12-22-2009 12:21 AM

thats a good one too and ur right the whole album is pretty good i listened to a few of the songs :)

Meatplow 12-22-2009 12:27 AM

awesome, glad you like it Tronn.

listening to some obscure power electronics compilation called "Addiction", I can't find any information about it online. It has Bizarre Uproar, Gelsomina, Barrikad, Moribund, Azoikum, Murderous Vision, STROM.ec, Praying For Oblivion and Navicon Torture Technologies on it.

SoundtheSurrender13 12-22-2009 02:24 AM

Anyone heard of Sybreed? I've recently gotten really into their album "Antares". They're just about the only industrial metal band i listen to though. I'm mostly a metalcore/nu-metal fan.

Meatplow 12-22-2009 03:31 AM

I've heard of Sybreed before, but have never given them a listen.
Sybreed defines their musical genre as death wave. They quote their greatest musical influences as being Fear Factory and Meshuggah.
Death Wave, now i've heard it all.

http://www.glitchmode.com/the-shizit/

Check that out new guy, an official free download from a band you might like. Welcome to the forums btw :)

Has anyone heard this? I've heard nothing but praise from the few industrial heads I usually get recommendations from.
In three decades, Industrial music, due to its tangible form, has given birth to numerous interpretations and splintered factions. What’s indisputable, is that most of what is actually defined as “industrial” has ultimately become more about entertainment than confrontation and far removed from the original intent. This is the context in which Sektor 304 has appeared.

Equipped with a frightening and impressive array of primitive instrumentation pulled from junkyards and scrap metal heaps, this Portuguese outfit has delivered an astounding formal debut – a heady mixture of truly old school industrial in the vein of Einstürzende Neubauten, Test Dept, and S.P.K , and the grinding, bass heavy dirge of vintage Swans and Godflesh . These are anthems to the past, but geared towards an apocalyptic and bleak future… a form of counter-culture using what is most evident in modern western society: the debris, the abandoned objects, the waste, the noise, and the interference.

With a solid foundation of rusty, oil drenched percussion, Sektor 304 adds layer upon layer of squalling industrial clangor, hammering metallic noise, grimy atmospheres, heaving masses of haunted factory drones, and threatening tribal batter, with a strong and commanding vocal presence. The sound here is almost physical in nature – provocative, persistent, and demanding. An organic impulse filled with shamanic drifts in which the noise barrage allies itself with metallic rhythmics and the use of concrete elements in the compositions. Junk, plastics, amplified objects. A change of scale. A manipulation of non-musical sounds in search of visual inductions trying to bring forward the sequences of Tsukamoto or situations invoked by J.G. Ballard. The conflict between man and machine as a metaphor of the struggle of man against himself. A mix and weight of three decades of sonic subversion.

It can be said that to find the future of music, one must look to the past, drawing influence from prior achievements, yet forging a new identity, and sculpting something completely unique and distinct. With Sektor 304, the future is now, and it’s not entertaining. In 6 panel digipak, mastered by Steel Hook Audio.
It sounds promising, at least.

Aaron 12-22-2009 06:31 AM

Okay my tasty little cream-puffs, i need help. Please critique this:
http://www.box.net/shared/djgyr3so6y

Going for an 88MM vibe, but lacking bass. Don't know if to dump bass in there or not.

Meatplow 12-22-2009 12:51 PM

I listened to that a couple of days Aaron, interesting. Now that you mention I think bass might give it nice lift, it is something that seems lacking in a lot of your work.

listening to Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft, seeing as you are on a first wave kick have you heard them before Alex?

Jaundice 12-22-2009 01:46 PM

i've never even heard the name to be honest

i will certainly look them up

Meatplow 12-22-2009 01:50 PM

Die Kleinen Und Die Bosen is alright, reminds me of Cabaret Voltaire a lot as it is probably more post-punk than anything.

a little more fruity and german though

Txus 12-22-2009 01:51 PM

Cabaret Voltaire is ace

Meatplow 12-22-2009 01:53 PM

Mix-Up is probably still my favourite release of theirs.

Meatplow 12-23-2009 02:24 AM

Yeah, Beast is probably my favourite track off there. Or maybe Ultra, or Juke Joint Jezebel, or Terror. Each track seems to top the next somehow whenever I listen to it ;]

Anyone heard of Maurizio Bianchi before? I'm checking out a few of his releases I have come across, a noise pioneer from Milan.

http://glinena0vca.wordpress.com/2009/02/13/laibachlast-few-days-1983/

super obscure bootleg of a Laibach and Last Few Days split, this is a group i'd definitely like to find some more of

http://www.last.fm/music/Last+Few+Days

Jaundice 12-24-2009 05:52 AM

Maurizio Bianchi's goal is "to produce technological sounds and in such a way to work on complete realising of the modern decadence".

yeah im def gonna need to take a look at this

Ventriloquist 12-24-2009 06:54 AM

Haz have you listened to that Sektor 304 album? Gonna look into it if you approve it.

Jaundice 12-24-2009 06:59 AM

industrial /noise rule #6: must pass haz inspection prior to listening

Ventriloquist 12-24-2009 07:20 AM

Heiling 88MM atm. Trying to find some Whitehouse records online but every time I do a blog search stuff about "the" White House comes out :( Do you have any uploaded on your blog haz?

Jaundice 12-24-2009 08:26 AM

have you tried singling out specific albums and searching for them with titles in quotations ? i usually have to do that and throw in the word download.

Ventriloquist 12-24-2009 09:11 AM

Yeah I only found one at a spanish dude's blog but it doesn't have a DL link. I'll try harder.

Meatplow 12-24-2009 12:25 PM

you goddamn jews

why haven't they killed you yet?

I thought Great White Death would be easier to find than that. Check your last.fm in maybe an hour or two.

jrowa001 12-24-2009 12:28 PM

got me some KMFDM finally. good stuff. just have Nihil but plan on getting some more. might pick up the lone MDFMK album while i am at it

Meatplow 12-24-2009 12:35 PM

always heiling Money, probably my second favourite after Nihil

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_m9mna_UwzQ

jrowa001 12-24-2009 12:37 PM

unpleasant video lol. i will probably get Money next

Meatplow 12-24-2009 12:46 PM

Yeah, it's pretty early 90's EBM and gay.

As much as I love Money I would suggest getting Angst and Naïve first instead, problem with starting with Nihil is that its all downhill from there in terms of production, everything before is considerably less metal and has more of EBM influence which is alienating to some listeners and everything after is generally less EBM and more metal but is a lot more patchy in songwriting. You would see what I mean if you listened to Xtort.

Meatplow 12-24-2009 01:03 PM

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nina_Hagen

I have a feeling you would dig this woman Jaundice

jrowa001 12-24-2009 01:07 PM

cool, i'll look at Naive and Angst and then Money. i like some EBM so it should be good

Ventriloquist 12-24-2009 04:02 PM

Need to check out some of the EBM albums that KMFDM did. Listened to Vogue pretty good. About to heil Whitehouse.
