Just a guess but from what I know:
Bloodmeat, Goddess Bound, Limb from Limb (Including Pt.1), The Dissentience, Sequoia Throne, Nautical, Bury the Hatchet, She Who Mars and Heretics are all possibilities. |
no bone marrow :( but :) to everything else
Bunit, first of all I love the Solid Snake avatar
thanks, for some reason the past 2 months has been shrouded in this damn game, can stop playing it |
I have to say, after all the talk of favorite parts or catchiest vocal parts, that I always turn it up right when it gets to "And other such regulars cry ghost or boast of a friend of a friend..." from The Dissentience. The music restrains a bit and Rody just takes over.
Killer. |
I do love that song, but I have to say that it could have done without him screaming "Down the street..." part. He does it so fast.
|
Needs more Wretch.
|
that it does
|
I actually got my pre-order with the t-shirt and poster today! Finally!

I see you're from SoCal as well. Hopefully mine turns up soon. |
Yah. I was getting kind of frustrated when it wasn't coming, but I walked up to my house after school today and saw the package and I was stoked. Ripped it open as soon as I got inside.
|
Hahaha, so apparently Matt Babel called Rody out on MuchOnDemand today during an interview (I missed it), saying how Rody said "Sand Ni GGer" in a video interview once and how that's not what a role model should do, and apparently Arif had to defend him. Sad I missed it.
|
I hate that really short bass solo in Palms Read so much, it seems so random and it doesn't really fit... as technically impressive as it may be.
|
It's a cue man, it's hardly supposed to be an impressive solo. It just signals that somethings happening (leap without faith). It's something that sticks out, and also hints at the shift the song takes.
I can see what you're saying though :P |
I like it.
|
I'm not crazy about the tone or sort of effect that's on it though
|
Haha, I'm pretty sure that's from one of these videos:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=6r3njFSd7Z8 http://youtube.com/watch?v=nVQkTNc0XyQ Did you end up getting on the guest list? I'm in Toronto but I decided to watch the Raps game instead of going down to the Kool Haus without a ticket. Could go to the afterparty at the Bovine, though.. |
I'm in Toronto but I decided to watch the Raps game instead of going down to the Kool Haus without a ticket.
Same here. They couldnt squeeze me in, and even still, I can't afford the amount of booze it'll take to tolerate Silverstein. I have a lot of work to do, plus it's the Raptors 1000th game. It's in part 2 of that interview. He also says he's a neo-nazi and talks about shoving his face in an MTV hosts vagina. Matt Babel, as nice of a guy as he is, is kind of a tool
Could go to the afterparty at the Bovine, though..
I considered it, but I'm not really enjoying most of the people from that scene these days. Toooo cliquey. |
Boo Raptors.
Hooray Rockets awesome streak. Anyway, I'm not gonna be able to see them pretty much when they get here. I will just have to wait for the nest time again. |
hahaha, oh yeah, the neo-nazi thing. I remember that. Awesome. I've never met Babel so I can't attest to if he's a nice guy, but he sure seems like a dolt on TV.
(completely unrelated: Woo, Calderon!) And yeah, I'm not sure the afterparty really would be very special. I'm only a couple of minutes away so I might head over later though. I wish Protest were PLAYING there but that'll probably never happen again. |
They really never played the Bovine though, maybe a show or two.
I'm not sure the afterparty really would be very special
Those parties are great if you're with the right crowd. I'm just not really friends with many people that'll be there so I'd feel awkward and out of place.
Hooray Rockets awesome streak.
They'd be better if they got rid of T-Mac. |
T-Mac, Bonzi, and Rafer Alston for Kobe.
Game over. |
Yeah that'd certainly kill the Rockets for good. NBA thread though
|

Haha man you have to see this. It should be on the MoD site shortly. Let's just say I was ****ing pissed when I saw this, as I saw the "sand n * gger" interview before this one. Matte Babel gave one of the worst interviews I've ever seen, and then follows it up by stating that he was "dissapointed" in Rody and how his fanbase must be offended by the fact that he called Arif a "sand n*gger" in an interview where he was CLEARLY joking. "Poochy the sand n * gger" was written on the wall behind him and he was just lightly making a reference to it. Why would any of Protest's fanbase give a **** about this when Rody makes an effort to be offensive all the time? This guy is a doofus and the statement was completely uncalled for.. He wanted to stand up for his beliefs and forced his opinions on the interview which was completely unprofessional. At one point he even asked Rody if he knew about the "historical significance" of the term when he spoke it. Dude is ridiculous. Haha, it was hilarious though when he asked Arif what his inspiration was for Fortress.. "mushroom trips" |
Oh man I can't wait to see the interview... although now it seems clear that Babel is both a tool AND a sanctimonious pile of poo.
Mushroom trips... Yes! |
The clincher is that Arif has referred to himself as a "sand ******" on many many occasions. Matt Babel is just not cut out for that job; you don't call someone out, take it out of context and basically insult them in an interview where you're supposed to promote the band.
And, I mean, Rody always does that ****. He used to wear a "suck my black ****" shirt. He used to make pedophelic jokes on stage. He's equally offensive to everyone. Babel just took the bait. What's worse is he makes the implication that Rody's a role model. To who? His entire goal is pissing people off. I think I should send Arif a text that says "Sand ******" just to see what he says. |
Of course, once your CD debuts at #1 in Canada, you become a role model and have to stop having fun.
Send the text! |
I did.
My friend wrote up a really, really great article on them, hopefully it'll be online soon. The quotes are seriously great. |
Looking forward to reading it...
I bet they're on stage now |
Probably another hour I'd imagine.
|
Man I wish i went to the show tonight.. damn tickets sold out so fast. Is it Silverstein headlining the tour? I imagine they would, shame.
|
Finally Seq. Throne live
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbKqOEcY_Zk |
Yeah, Silverstein is the headliner.
Protest has still been playing a decent set, though. Ah well. They'll be back. Eventually... grumble grumble. |

noice |
Hah, I posted that. I figured it needed to be up on YouTube, even if it's the most awkward and unnecessary song they ever wrote.
|
Is that Arif?
|
Is who Arif?
|
I meant in that video - he just looks ridiculously different.
|
Oh, yeah it's Arif, hah. He's gone through a few looks -- when I first started seeing them, he looked like a really young Slash.
|
I meant in that video - he just looks ridiculously different.
Not really.. even still has the back-forward step and arm flailing thing goin' on. 3:17 in that video is awesome. Really shows how excellently both of those guitarists have improved since then. |
Hah, yeah. I should dig out the **** of them from back in '03. Then you'd really put it in perspective, hah.
|

I remember seeing an old(ish) video of them and Rody looked ****ing insane - I loved it. |
