Every time I listen to CoCa, I get more and more surprised that they're considered pop-punk. There's nothing pop-punk about them.

YDload 09-11-2005 04:54 PM

Their singles are usually considered pop-punk, like A Favor House Atlantic. It's all they can do to lure people into their albums, which are full of crazy guitar solos and other weird shit that Fall Out Boy fans wouldn't touch with their danity little fingers!

Pete 09-11-2005 04:58 PM

I know. And it's not pop-punk. Yes, some of their songs are emphasizing on their poppy side, but there's not an ounce of punk in them. They're a prog-rock band. I don't get why they're associated with pop-punk.

Let's Chop Cats! 09-11-2005 05:06 PM

They play/played shows within the scene back when these bands were small enough to play clubs.

I'm almost done with listening through the new album for the first time. It's pretty good, I like IKSSE3 better.

That's what I said at first, but you can really get into the older songs easier than you think.

Second Stage Turbine Blade was really pop-punk.

I haven't really listened to it, but I read in this thread that only "33" and "Devil in Jersey City" are poppy. I don't know though. But judging from "In Keeping Secrets..." and "Good Apollo...", they're not a pop-punk band.

Ramza_Beoulve 09-11-2005 05:33 PM

Ayone wanna send me their new album over AIM?

edirbcmleba

I love In keeping secrets. How many cds do they have out?

DepthsOfDreams555 09-11-2005 05:45 PM

Okay pal

clairvoyant 09-11-2005 05:47 PM

That song that starts with "your eyes tell the story"...I HATE THAT SONG. I seriously despise it so much, I just cannot stand it.

The only other Coheed song I've ever heard is "Welcome Home", which in my opinion is a HUGE improvement over the other one I heard...ughhh

Ramza_Beoulve 09-11-2005 06:03 PM

Ya thats A Favor House Atlantic that song is sooo awesome I don't know what your talking about.

Gnarmageddon 09-11-2005 06:36 PM

I've had Blood Red Summer stuck in my head all day today.

DepthsOfDreams555 09-11-2005 07:04 PM

Ya know to be completely honest Blood Red Summer is my least favorite Coheed song. I don't know why it just right now is my least favorite Coheed song.

TMA 09-11-2005 08:19 PM
Second Stage Turbine Blade was really pop-punk.
Excuse me while I shoot your crack dealer.
What the hell are you talking about?!
The closest you get to Poppy on SSTB is Devil In Jersey City and 33. Everything else on that album is far more experimental and far more out there than IKSSE. Come on man. IKSSE had Favor House Atlantic, Blood Red Summer, Three Evils, AND Faint of Heart. Sure, it also had The Crowing, IKSSE, and Al The Killer, but SSTB had Everything Evil, Junesong Provision, Hearshot Kid Disaster, and Delirium Trigger. I'd also mention Time Consumer, Neverender, and God Send Conspirator, but then I would have listed the whole album.
SSTB>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>IKSSE
I don't know where to place Good Apollo on that line, cause I haven't made a desicion about it yet.

DepthsOfDreams555 09-11-2005 08:24 PM

Ya definetly SSTB>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>IKSSE. IKSSE is a ton more poppy then SSTB.

YDload 09-11-2005 08:32 PM

Faint of Hearts is the most unusual song off the last album; it's kinda 80's rock-like with that beginning guitar solo, and the rest of it is just pure Coheed. That's why I'm glad that what I've heard from the new album is closer to what was hinted at in that song. It's gonna be different from the first two, but still awesome.

CombatWombat3 09-11-2005 08:44 PM

I love the song faint of hearts, not very many people like it as much. It's a great song, really catchy, with some great lyrics.

DepthsOfDreams555 09-11-2005 08:49 PM

I love it, I think most people like it. I don't see why you wouldn't just like you said its very catchy and its just a real good song.

TMA 09-11-2005 09:04 PM

I love it too.
Even more so since I learned how to play it, but still.

Like me for instance.

DJ Ducksauce 09-11-2005 11:16 PM

Has anyone seen the cover art for the new graphic novel. It looks soo sweet.

Whoop, double post.

Oh yeah, I bought a Co&Ca shirt that was normally $18 for $5. It was half off of half of. Go me!

I have to say that does look very cool.

DepthsOfDreams555 09-12-2005 06:02 AM

Ya I have to say that looks like the sweetest thing ever!

The Crowing 09-12-2005 06:55 PM

Tonight, Good Night, I'm Burning Star IV. God **** it this cd is awesome.

Pazz 09-12-2005 07:01 PM

I'm listening to it right now. It's amazing!

Mute Print 09-12-2005 07:03 PM

I'm still waiting for it, but I think it will be well worth the wait.

Just over one week until I finally get it (and a new T-Shirt, although I doubt it will fit).

I finally got the new comic in the mail today, its very good and explains "Devil in Jersey City" a lot.

DJ Ducksauce 09-12-2005 08:23 PM

What is that thing that takes off that guys head in the end of the second comic?

The Crowing 09-12-2005 08:25 PM
What is that thing that takes off that guys head in the end of the second comic?
Egh. I don't even know. I think it's a "priest", or so they say on the Heed forums. It seems like Josephine's boyfriend turns into it though, which is what confuses me.

Wait, so that thing is Patrick? Maybe witnessing Josie's murder triggers something inside of him kind of like Coheed and the Monstar virus.

The Crowing 09-12-2005 08:35 PM
Wait, so that thing is Patrick? Maybe witnessing Josie's murder triggers something inside of him kind of like Coheed and the Monstar virus.
Exactly what I was thinking, but who knows. Whatever it is, is waiting for Claudio in the next comic. Hint the "I wish god **** it, you'll make it if you believe".

DJ Ducksauce 09-12-2005 08:40 PM

That's Cambria saying that isn't it? At least that's what I heard in some forum. Before the comic came out, Claudio was supposed to have been running from Coheed, but now we know that can't be true.

The Crowing 09-12-2005 08:41 PM

Hmm. The next comic will be out in 14 years if we're lucky . So we'll just have to wait.

DepthsOfDreams555 09-12-2005 08:43 PM

Haha ya no joke its so slow and with this graphic novel I'm sure it has slowed the comics down.

DJ Ducksauce 09-12-2005 08:50 PM

Weren't the comics supposed to be coming out more frequently after the second one? The graphic novel is already done, so it shouldn't be too long.

DepthsOfDreams555 09-12-2005 08:53 PM

Ya but I guarntee the whole time they were workin on the novel they werent workin on comics.
