Is there a P.U.L.S.E DVD?
Yes, check amazon.com for it. |
Gilmour does sing on it...and to DeusExMachina, I thought that Gilmour did the "There is no pain, you are receding" parts of Comfortably Numb as well.
Yeah, I thought so, but Riva said Gilmour did the doctor part, so I was confused. Whatev. And no, I don't think The Wall would have been better if Gilmour had done the singing. I just can't imagine anyone but Waters singing Run Like Hell, or In The Flesh. |

Bob Geldof really fits great as the "Pink" character in The Wall, and his voice doesn't sound that far off from Roger's on "In The Flesh". |
Eh, he sings, but I don't think he does that great of a job. He just tries to make it too flashy, in my opinion. Not flashy, necessarily, but I don't like the way he sings it.

He doesn't really sing it on "In The Flesh?"... well kinda.. but I see it as more of a speech or something the second time, because he commands certain races (blacks) and lifestyles (gays) to leave... I don't know, I just don't see it as a song as much as the first In The Flesh. |
Yes, check amazon.com for it.
They only have bootlegged versions. Real thing isn't out. |
Gilmour sings chorus and Waters sings verse on Comfortably Numb.
The first time I watched The Wall, I was thinking In The Flesh would be just like the song. I was a little suprised and kinda disappointed when Geldof started singing cause he sounded too exaggerated. I guess I got used to it by the second song, but it definently caught me off guard the first time. Gilmour, just to confirm, the pompeii dvd has the entire old version? or just parts of it? I'm just concerned cause I wanna make sure that it has everything that's on the old version. It bugs me when stuff gets left out. |
OK...since I've never seen The Wall, does Geldof actually sing on it, or does the film simply contain the songs off The Wall, as sung by Waters and Gilmour?
Bob Geldof sings on both of the In The Flesh songs, and I'm positive that's all he sings, rest is all from the band as normal. And The Wall DVD has all the songs on the album plus When The Tigers Broke Free and What Shall We Do Now (which are both great songs in my opinion), Hey You isn't "in" the movie, but if you get the DVD you can watch it as a special feature... |

Guess who got the DVD? :D |
Correction: You guys are right. I was listening to DSOT when I made that post. Roger is the doctor, Gilmour is the "mysterious voice".
|
Bastard. I need the DVD. My mom "banned" from purchasing anything in December, b/c of Xmas..But now I have money saved for The Wall DVD and the rest of the Floyd albums I don't have. :D
Kombucha Mushroom Mofo, is that at all near Seattle? I used to live in Seattle, just moved out a couple months ago.
It's about 3 hours southeast of Seattle. Are you coming back? |
Division bell all the way.
High Hopes, Marooned, Poles Apart, all off of that album are amazing amazing songs. AMAZING. Gilmours just amazing. once again. Amazing. |
I was just listening to High Hopes. That song is freaking great. What do you guys think of the rest of Division Bell?
|

Oh shi, you are correct. |
. That looks awesome.
|
65 bucks! US?!?!
And I thought The Wall DVD was expensive  |

Probably not to live, sadly. But I'm going to visit during spring break. Also, on The Wall DVD, they butchered Mother. And I didn't like how they superimposed the "we don't need no education" chant over the solo in ABITW pt. 2. But, it's still definitely a good buy. |
Well, I have just watched the DVD of the Wall, and can I say I was both impressed and upset. Impressed with the sheer artistic beauty of it all, but upset with both the lack of a few key songs, and also, as Deus said, the suprisingly badly twisted version of Mother.
However, over all it was an excellent view. |

It is great. It really increased my understanding of the album, and the whole story behind it.
|
I got the Saucerful of Secrets biography book. Now I have to read it!
|
It's very good. I was looking for that new Nick Mason book today (it is out already, isn't it?) but I couldn't find it anywhere.

Yup, I got it for Christmas. Pretty awesome book. I never thought Nick would be such a funny guy. :thumb: Also, I asked for any Floyd album besides PATGOD, DSOTM and WYWH, since I have them. What did I get? The Final Cut. Twice. I'm going to take one back and exchange it for Animals or Atom Heart Mother. |
Animals is a great album, probably my favorite after Dark Side. But I have it on vinyl, and do listen to it quite a bit. And for The Wall, I just don't care for it. I'm not a huge fan of Roger's taking over, and The Wall is basically his. (the reason why I was rather disapointed of the two Final Cuts.) My friend has it on DVD also, and I can watch it whenever I please.
Atom Heart Mother is quite under rated I think. Fat Old Sun is such a great song. Gilmour is great on it. It's interesting and experimental and I like it. |

I heard it has some brass instruments on it though, sounds very experimental. |
The title track to AHM is quite... interesting.
Fat Old Sun is quite a mellow track(even for Pink Floyd) but still good. |
Ok, I've decided to get Live at Pompeii today, and maybe PATGOD. How is Obscured By Clouds? I always see that at the store.
|
One time was comfortably numb while I was listening to Comfortably Numb

Pink Floyd is the best band ever and they were so far ahead of their time
|
All their albums are great.....especially The wall, Dark Side, and Animals.
|
Is there anybody in here?
|

Atom Heart Mother is real good, i got the cd on my pc. But yea the first track has like a ochrestra playing through the whole song. |

Obscured by Clouds is a great underrated CD, it's got some Meddle sounding stuff on it (not like Echoes though). I'd recommend it if you already have Meddle. Lukins... Learn how to edit your posts... please... |
Lukins... Learn how to edit your posts... please...
Does it annoy anyone else when someone just comes into the thread and responds to old topics? Or they arent even on topic with anything. |
Does it annoy anyone else when someone just comes into the thread and responds to old topics?
Or they arent even on topic with anything.
Yeah, quite annoying it is, and usually the Pink Floyd thread doesn't have much problems with it too... well if that lukins guy keeps that ideal posting up, he'll be banned so I'm hoping we won't have to deal with that again. |
I want to know if Obsucred by Clouds is better then Atom Heart Mother. I have heard most of Obscured by Clouds and though it was very good.

Well, I can give you my input and agree with you that Obscured by Clouds is a great and actually more obscured (hehe) album than others.. but I myself haven't heard Atom Heart Mother, but it seems to be talked about in here alot lately. |
