So I got The Curtain Falls, no thanks to people IMing me. It's sweetness. I definitely dig the love quadrangle between Saetia, Hot Cross, You and I, and Neil Perry. Pentangle if Joshua Fit for Battle is included but I forget.
If you like those bands, check out A Petal Fallen, Take Down Your Art, The Holy ****ing Spirit, Ampere. |

 intelligence outside of this thread and fourfa on emo!! |
Hold the phone, that seems to be the exact list we compiled in the MUST READ thread posted by a kid who also posts on here.
|
You should post some Comadre.
Dfelon who's the band playing in your Myspace? |
Comadre commented on his myspace, if you go to their myspace you can hear them. Dfelon, you know some fine ladies.
|
it's because he lifts weights cb.
|
Hahaha, I could tell from that picture.

To those ladies. |
hey, i'm new here...this thread is pretty cool...anyways, u guys seem 2 hav some disagreements with fourfa on the whole "emocore"/"emo" thing...if they are one and the same, then what would u call the bands he classifies as emocore, like Dag Nasty, Hot Water Music, etc.?
|
Hold the phone, that seems to be the exact list we compiled in the MUST READ thread posted by a kid who also posts on here.
And someone mentioned popcore.... "Or UnderOATH popcore." |
Wow, people who call underoath popcore are ****ing idiots. Yeah their new stuff is poppier, but if you listen to their old stuff it's definately metalcore. Their new album sounds nothing like the first two. Stop trying to be music leet by lumping all the popular bands into "pop" genres.
|
Only if you stop listening to From Autumn To Ashes.
[seriousness\] Most people know Underoath by their new stuff, so, generally, when they are spoken about, They're Only Chasing Safety is the album they are judged by. Along with that, it takes too long to type "Popcore(newer stuff)Metalcore(older stuff)" when labeling a band. Plus, Underoath is almost entirely a new band now from their old stuff. Their and a member or two or really the only things that still tie them to their metalcore days. |
alright, yeah I would agree with they're only chasing safety being popcore. the same thing happened with hopesfall, there's only 1 or 2 people left from the original band, and now they suck. they were one of my favorite bands too.
|
They don't suck, you suck. It's called change. Deal with it.

I think that whole 'emocore' section is stretching it. Hot Water Music are a pop-punk band, as are Jawbreaker, Samiam, Lifetime. Dag Nasty are just plain hardcore. |
Lifetime don't really seem to have any emo in them, and Jawbreaker sound like pop-punk to me. I don't think you'd call Hot Water Music pop-punk though.
|
Yeah, ive always considered hot water music emo.
|
They're not straight emo. I'm not sure what they are.
|
Erm, vaginacore?
|
pen0rcore.
|
What would you recommend for me to listen? I like poppy stuff like Alexisonfire, From First To Last, A Static Lullaby, and Saosin , but I'm into the Fall Of Troy ( my favorite band ) ForDireLifeSake, Hot Cross, ATDI, The Kinison, a bit of Converge... Any bands you know that might follow those lines?
Oh, and where could I find The Fall Of Troy songs? I've only I Got This Symphony Goin', Ghostship pt. 4 and Rockstar Nailbomb... I also heard Tom Waits from their site, along with another I don't remember. And what would you classify ATDI under? Post-emo indie rock? |

I've got their EP :D ), Glory Of This, A Thorn For Every Heart, Albert React, No Hollywood Ending, When Reason Sleeps, Yesterday's Rising, The Tokyo Smash, A taste For Murder, Anthym, The Sound Of Animals Fighting, Before Today, Beloved, Life In Your Way, Nor Am I, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, The Pheonix Rising, The Receiving End Sirens. Some of that's probably a stretch, I was going for that "Pop-punk + some heaviness thing" Most of them have purevolumes. I've got most of their full albums or EPs, AIM for that too. |
Try some Envy, Ghosts(formery an embrace of angels) is pretty good too, A Day in Black and White, Saetia, Trophy Scars, oh and Richard Cheese :thumb:

An Embrace Of Angels is awesome. Ghosts is meh, from what I've heard. |
The Receiving End Sirens.
*The Receiving End Of Sirens /bitch ++ |
Envy are soooo good. Japanese screamo, I love it.
|
*The Receiving End Of Sirens
/bitch ++
I used to talk to this stupid chick on AIM that lives in Massachusetts, and she was friends with their singer. I don't know if they still are, but she showed me them when they first got together and they sounded like a complete GlassJAw wannabe. Apparently he punched her too. Normally I'm against stuff like that but once again she was a stupid whore so it's cool. |
I enjoy them. They're coming around here sometime soon.
|
cool, thanks to all who answered my question...btw dfelon, i saw u mention earlier on the thread that fourfa has the evolution of emo after 1994 all wrong...would u care 2 elaborate?
|
is anyone into the saddest landscape? that is definitely emo.
|
In regards to bands like Underoath and Hawthorne Heights, a DJ around here called them "mainscream." Thought that was nifty.
|
i hate hate hate hate hate hawthorne heights.
|
i hate hate hate hate hate hawthorne heights.
I see them all the time on that commercial for Victory records, where the singer looks like he's about to cry as he yelps "I can't make on my own/ cause my heart is inohwahyeah" or whatever. |

of all the bands in that genre full of clones, hawthorne heights became huge, amazing. i really couldnt believe it. |
There's this pseudo-emo kid that works in the stock room of the store I work at. Every time I'm back there he's blasting the new Underoath or Hawthorne Heights. We talked once:
"That's new Underoath, isn't it?" "yeah" "Eww" *walks away* |
the only thing worse than a pseudo-metal kid is pseudo-emo kid
|
pseudo-metal kids are at least funny. pseudo-emo kids are boring.
|
Umm. Samiam isn't emo. Hot Water Music isn't emo. Where's the information about Saetia? Stuff like that.
i see |
My chemical romance
