can anybody on here please tell me the secret track list you guys talked about toward the start on lateralus
the holy gift maybe?

not a hidden song, but a hidden aspect of the album. If you rearrange the song order as such :
Parabol, Parabola, Schism, Ticks & Leeches, Mantra, Lateralus, Faiip de Oiad, The Grudge, Triad, Eon Blue Apocalypse, Reflection, The Patient, and finally Disposition, it's supposed to sound crazy differnet and open up another world and whatnot. wasn't that impressive to me, but you should try it.

dUSK 10-27-2004 12:44 AM

^ I wasn't highly impressed either when I first tried the alternate order, but I'm downloading a program now that should be able to edit out the noiseless spaces between songs. Hopefully that might make things better.

Also, I would like to add Ticks & Leeches and Sober to my previous suggestions for most popular R&M song. How can we only choose one song!?

ænima 10-27-2004 12:54 AM

if this was a Tool song going in it needs to be a really good song that also would make a first time listener make them want to hear more from them, Reflection is mean but i dont think it is a good song to start off on. if it is a song from Tool they would probably put Schism on but my vote would be ether Lateralus, Eulogy or Push it.

and also what does everyone think of eMOTIVe i havnt yet heard it because it hasnt came out yet were i live, does it compeard well to their of two albums, best songs? etc. just give we the details here.

ænima 10-27-2004 12:58 AM

with the the fibonacci sequence it sounds good and makes the song flow into each other but i dont think it was that good either. i think it is worth a listen though its just a change i supose.

clearvision 10-27-2004 06:16 AM

H is probably my favourite, but the grudge is a close second, and then theres sober, my first tool song. Meh i like em all.

/sounds cliche

Seriously though if we try and pump tool up the ranks we will have to unite with 1 song, no use half us going with schism and the other with lateralus or something. The only people that will vote for tool will be people that have albums and not just radio people, so we can choose any track we like...

Adam Jones is GOD 10-27-2004 06:18 AM

But deciding on one song alone is gonna be tough. We should set up some secretive thread with a poll with the top 10 songs, and whichever wins, we all have to vote on.

And hey, tis mod endorsed again! So nice and legal...

Chu 10-27-2004 06:26 AM

Something from Salival!

Why does no one talk about Salival? :(

Adam Jones is GOD 10-27-2004 06:27 AM

Because only a few of us lucky ones (me included) has it. We dont say much as its rubbing salt in the wound for those unlucky ones.

Chu 10-27-2004 06:31 AM

I paid good money for it :)
I really like Merkaba (Live) from it :thumb:
Good stuff.

TheMachineRagesOn 10-27-2004 06:52 AM

Not at all man, please converse about about Salival it will be added incentive to me to get it and others.

how should the one Tool song be judged, i mean what criteria should we overlook to determine the winner?

Adam Jones is GOD 10-27-2004 06:58 AM

Since its a best rock/metal song poll, it should be a song that is able to be placed alongside other rock/metal songs, and not a more alternative tool song. Not to use the word radio friendly, but at least one of their more 'regular' songs.

I think SFK has a better idea of what we need though

Adam Jones is GOD 10-27-2004 07:05 AM
Planning to fix up the poll are we boys?
Shhhh

Its in revenge for Tool not being on the metal band comp

TheMachineRagesOn 10-27-2004 07:07 AM

i see, what about something off opiate??

Adam Jones is GOD 10-27-2004 07:14 AM
So I'm sure there'll be more than 1 Tool song in the top 100..if you really want to you can nominate everything they've ever recorded. :p
Thy will be done....

..and of course, Medopalis yet again = GOD

Alt/indie one is going well may i say

TheMachineRagesOn 10-27-2004 07:15 AM

Medopalis you are a champ and yes i get it now, thanks :thumb:

SonorKen 10-27-2004 07:24 AM

ahhhhh well, now we will have Med to help us set all this scheming up!

SonorKen 10-27-2004 07:45 AM

Well, my though behind nominating Aenema is most everyone has at least heard it so they are familiar with it. If they are not familiar with Tool and are a musician and hear the song then they have to be impressed with thier talent. Plus the message is kinda cool...

Chu 10-27-2004 07:45 AM

Salival is great, it has the Live Third Eye, with the different introduction, I have the copy of Salival with Maynard's Dick on the end, hehe :)
It has Merkaba Live which is an awesome song I don't think they've released a studio version of it, or have they?
Their cover of Led Zeppelin's No Quarter, which is fantastic!
And of course the Message To Harry Manback II.
The trippy LAMC phone call, which is just freaky! :P
It's a good album to own I think, I'm not a huge Tool fan but I like this album, alot.

TheMachineRagesOn 10-27-2004 08:19 AM

misunderstood 10-27-2004 10:37 AM

A song I haven't seen mentioned yet...unless i missed it is "Stinkfist" ...i think thats a great song...just a suggestion

You forgot "You Lied". One of my all time favorite Tool songs by far.
You forgot "You Lied". One of my all time favorite Tool songs by far.
Just remeber its not a tool song though, its a cover of Peach (being justin's old band, blah blah blah.....) just to avoid confusion

clearvision 10-27-2004 02:55 PM

So we go with aenema...what do we have to do to get it to number one?

/starts registering accoutns

Adam Jones is GOD 10-27-2004 02:56 PM

Not that for a start, we have enough fans here to help it.

Wait for jonny (medopalis) to put up the comp, it'll be after the classic rock one is done.

And check R&M this friday for a present for tool fans

ThirteenthStep 10-27-2004 03:05 PM

What about Lateralus... I think that song really sums up alot of the band's style, it has them playing loud, soft, maynard singing all different ways, its really good, and the instrumentals are good, along with the lyrics... The only thing I think will drive new ppl away from it is the 2 minute intro, even though its good, some ppl just cant sit through it and dont like that.

Man this friday? I'm gonna have to log on THIS friday? Grrr My Gta game will come early in the morning and i was planning not to leave my seat all day...yes i have already bought nappies! Man it's like christmas come early, a tool suprise and GTA...

Adam Jones is GOD 10-27-2004 03:09 PM

We can nominate any song, but what we want to make sure is that we have a front runner that will make it all the way. So we have to come to a netural agreement. We cant let Enter sandman or Run To The Hills be beating Lateralus or Pu****, etc.

And that intro is brilliant, people who like build up will adore it, tool fan or not

clearvision 10-27-2004 03:09 PM

Well aenema is techincally the first tool song i heard. I heard Sober early this yr and i started listening to more of their stuff. My freind did an interpretation of aenemas lyrics for an english assignment. My mates were all tapping their feet and stuff, and they are all HIp-hop/rap dudes, so aenema maybe a good choice as it's accessible...

double post ++

yeah i had to pay !!75 DOLLARS!! :amaze: for that, which happens to be a good price, since i bought it off ebay
I'm not sure whether it was worth it or not. the DVD part is hardly anything, and since i had already watched the videos, it was pretty pointless.
the CD part was .bad. .***. though :thumb:

Adam Jones is GOD 10-27-2004 04:40 PM

its a collectors item, at least you can say you own their whole collection (if you have the others)

And the videos are just as good to see over and over if you are a big video appreciator

the videos are great, if you have the time, to just watch and interpret. cool feeling when you think of something that you think tool might have intended you to think.
