Are ironware, heavenly , avantasia power metal bands?
|
I play the Lead guitar and the Drums but I hate to write it down, like to tab it out. I preffer to just memorize it then. It takes too long.
|
Are ironware, heavenly , avantasia power metal bands?
Don't believe I'm familiar with Ironware, but Heavenly and Avantasia are power metal, yes. Avantasia is the side project of Edguy's lead singer, so also check them out. |
can someone upload some edguy please?
I would like to hear them... |
I'll rip and burn some tracks off of Hellfire Club, their best album yet.
I'll start with Down to the Devil and King of Fools. I'll probably also put pu Lavatory Love Machine, The Navigator, and The Piper Never Dies if you guys like the frist two songs. |

Yes, they are symphonic. Edguy's earliest music had a similar approach.
I personally prefer their new stripped-down approach, but still appreciate their symphonic metal days. |
Of the stuff I've heard, I really think Far Beyond the Madding Crowd is their best album to date. Try to track down the Longing for the Woods trilogy off that album. Pure quality.
Their earlier albums are more proggy, but FBTMC is where the power/folk elements really stand out.
Alright, I'll look for these songs and...
looking forward to them surely being in the spotlight next month...
:) |

King of Fools - Edguy Here's two songs for you guys. The first I consider one of my personal theme songs. The second was the first radio single off of Hellfire Club. If you like what you hear, let me know and I'll put up some more uploads. |
This dowload should still be good. Give it a listen and tell us what you think. It's a mixture of power metal, some prog, and Celtic folk music.
I like the music but i'm not to fond of the singer. He can sing hit the notes but he sounds weird to me. The music is good though, there are some awesome solos in it. |
Could be his Danish accent. I actually really like singers with accents. Gives the vocals that extra dash of color. Timo Kotipelto and Rolf Kasparek especially. And I definately enjoy Nils Johansson's singing. Reminds me of Dio.

I'll D/L it later, my wireless connection is at the stage where it waits until I try and download something and then goes hahahaha fuck off...

Mine doesn't even wait until I try to download something. It just goes out whenever it feels like it. So yeah, I feel your pain. |
Although they sound quite similar I prefer Avantasia to Edguy but in general this is not the kind of power I like. As far as vocalists are concerned I want them to have grind in their voice like Hansi Kursch or Russell Allen. Joakim Broden from Sabaton is pretty special too and has accent. In an interview he said he always liked singers with accent. Steerpike have you checked Sabaton yet?

it does that too, just seems more prevalent in the middle of a download... :upset: |

Have you heard Hellfire Club yet? Tobias can really put a nice snarl in his voice when he chooses to. As for Sabaton, I have some downloads of them right now that I was going to listen to after dinner along with Jag Panzer. |

yeah sure I have quite a few times on the radio and saw an edguy video clip on TV (it was this song if I'm not mistaken). I know what you mean but I want to get this more often, not just when the vocalist chooses to :p
As for Sabaton, I have some downloads of them right now that I was going to listen to after dinner along with Jag Panzer.
Alright but dont forget to listen to them otherwise you might miss something really good. |

Ah. Well, if you want, I can at least upload an mp3 of The Navigator for you. It's got the sort of vocals you like and a damn great chorus you just want to sing along with.
Alright but dont forget to listen to them otherwise you might miss something really good.
It's not like I'm doing anything else today. |

sure, I'd love to listen to this song :) /are you on the whole day because you quit your job? :p |
Yes. Today, I don't have to lift a damn finger, and I intend to enjoy that for at least this weekend.
Anyway, I'll have it up in about 10 or 15 minutes. |

Have fun
I'll have it up in about 10 or 15 minutes.
I wont go anywhere :) unless PC crashes again... |

While I'm thinking of it, Stoic, have you heard Tarot yet? |
Heard some random songs a while ago and liked Marco Hietala's vocals but didnt go further.
/downloads |
You really should check out their album Suffer Our Pleasures. They're arguably the most ass-kicking power metal band ever.
|
can someone name some other good power metal besides tarot?
|
I'm actually listening to some samples off this album on cduniverse at the moment.
The Navigator is awesome, Tobias can really do a lot and he's still so young. I think song kind of converted me Mr Steerpike :)
can someone name some other good power metal besides tarot?
Blind Guardian is certainly an ideal pick. The rest will be hostory  |

Nightwish Wuthering Heights Blind Guardian Edguy Stratovarius Angra Helloween Gamma Ray Lost Horizon Human Fortess Running Wild Kamelot
The Navigator is awesome, Tobias can really do a lot and he's still so young.
Nightwish
Wuthering Heights Blind Guardian Edguy Stratovarius Angra Helloween Gamma Ray Human Fortess Running Wild
tks also would three inches of blood be power metal i would think that because they have that song "destroy the orcs" that guys voice freaks me out too much |
Human Fortress! Another awesome vocalist, defenders of the crown is a really good album.
 See everybody? I'm always right. \m/
You just know your music well :p |
are there any power metal bands like A7Xs new CD i like that stuff
|
tks also would three inches of blood be power metal i would think that because they have that song "destroy the orcs" that guys voice freaks me out too much
Well... technically they are power metal, but I don't feel that they're a particularly good example of the genre.
You just know your music well :p
When your life revolves around the arts, it's kind of a given.
are there any power metal bands like A7Xs new CD i like that stuff
I listened to bit off that album just now. I wasn't particularly impressed, but it does bear a resemblence to Tarot. Sort of. The vocal harmonies sounded a little tinny and the guitar riffs were a little muddy, while most power metal bands have much cleaner production. Overall, I'd say your safest bets would be: A Night at the Opera - Blind Guardian Suffer Our Pleasures - Tarot Under Jolly Roger - Running Wild Once - Nightwish Hellfire Club - Edguy Hall of the Mountain King - Savatage EDIT: Whoops. Didn't mean to double-post there. EDIT: Fixed. |

I would strongly reccommend listening to Iced earth then you will fall to your knees and weep tears of purest metal at the fact you will never hear a better band (well unless you listen to maiden) in all your helpless, metal crazed life |

Demons and Wizards is a side-project of Jon Schaffer and Hansi Kursch. It's neither Iced Earth, nor Blind Guardian. Great music though. |
I'm suprised nobody has mentioned Sonata Arctica...they play great power metal.
|
Haven't heard enough of them to make a fair judgment yet.
