That's cool that you like CoC. I don't hate you just because you like a crappy band. |
They were like the band that made Killswitch and Shadows Fall, so If you like either of those, check 'em out.

Please stop being annoying. Please. |
Is Overcast worth checking out?
Overcast was absolutely amazing. You should check out them AND Aftershock, they basically started that New England scene (ignoring Converge cause they transcend it). |
Well yea, I know, that's why I asked. I heard Mike D. ressurected Overcast, so I figured I'd ask about them.
Also, speaking of pre-KsE bands, is there any accessible Aftershock material? Haha beat by Matt, but the question still stands... |

Have you seen the {Set This}World Ablaze DVD? |
You're a fucking idiot.
What would you call it then? And if you tell me hardcore or some dumb ****, I'm going to have a brain hemorrhage.
Well, if it's extreme symphonic blackened melodic grinded death like you say, then it's obviously not death metal. And it's not extreme symphonic blackened melodic grinded death because you're a dumbass and think that just because you have a gay symphonic interlude that you're automatically symphonic, that you have a tremolo riff and shrieking vocals so it's blackened, have blast beats and fast riffing so it's grinded, etc etc. So what is it you ask? It's ****. |
Have you seen the {Set This}World Ablaze DVD?
I own it... Axl, I'll send you the Aftershock discography tommorrow. Also, a lot of the new Killswitch album is rehashed Aftershock material, but poorly utilized. |
No one mentions Through The Eyes of the Dead? (i don't really consider them metalcore, though)
|
I own it...

Thanks, and btw do you have any Overcast as well? That would be cool. @ Nepenthe: Seriously, did I ask your opinion on whether or not you think it's bullshit because I incorporate a bunch of **** into my music? Dude, I didn't ****ing start anything with you, so ****ing lay off. |
You started something with me when you said quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever heard somebody say in my life.
|
This thread sucks anymore.
|
Haha, I couldn't have worded it better myself.
It died right about the time somebody said "extreme symphonic blackened melodic grinded death". |

:-( i liked this thread
|
This thread as okay until Hbp ruined it.
|
I forgot to clarify when I said it earlier, but I meant have you heard the new rerelease of Those Who Fear Tomorrow? It's got some pretty cool extra tracks.
And is the opening sample perfect for that album, or what? |
Anthony, I change my mind...Snapcase are really ****ing good!
|

God, you are about the densest dude I have met lately.
You used to be cool, but today you're just being an ass. Aside from that, do you seriously not see the point? |
I see the point, but you're still an idiot for even thinking your music could be called that. Like I said, just because you have gay symphonic interludes does not make you 'symphonic'. Just because you have tremolo riffs does not make you 'blackened'. Just because you have blast beats does not make you 'grinded'. You fail to realize that just throwing random bits and pieces of different genres does not make you that kind of music. And if your music has all of that **** tossed into it, there's no way the result could be considered death metal. That's what I said in the first place.
|

That sercurity guard or Roadie or whatever he was went through every band that any of the dudes were affiliated with, and really, they are the backbone of the New Engalnd Metal Scene. |

I didn't say that having x makes it x genre. My point was almost the same as yours, dude, I just was going in a different direction with it. I was simply saying that a lot of bands have so many different influences and small characteristics derived from those influences that it's hard to pinpoint a genre specifically. My overall point to the topic at hand was that sometimes it's just easier to blanket a term on a band, rather than sit and argue over what specific genre or subgenre it is based on the "bits of this and bits of that" it has in it... We aren't really thinking that differently.... But, I still fail to see how it's not death metal. The overall sound is still characteristic of at least some form of death metal, having those characteristics. Unless you just want to call it "experimental metal", but it's not really because the sound is pretty straightforward (and not wierd, like unexpect). |
Integrity pwns so hard. I need to find albums of theirs, because they are just cool.
