well you cant really blame them... pleasing about 5 million fans or getting a new fan base that is about 10 times your original fan base, plus much more money?

hmm.

kirk_wylde 12-30-2003 04:35 AM

I agree. I think every album is good. And think about it if all the albums were like justice or puppets Fans would just get bored of the same old routine. But besides that I have an inkling they might make another "old" style album B/c when I saw them in london they only played 2 St.Anger songs (Odd with a tour titled St. Anger tour) and the rest were old ones. With more off kill 'em all than St.anger. Oh and new sales records have been posted on encylopedia metallica.com (since they re-released their back catalog earlier this year) and Live sh*** binge and purge has sold 15 million worldwide 1 million more than the black album (14 million)

Bullit 12-30-2003 06:02 AM

It would have been interesting to see what would have come after AJFA had bob rock not come along.

Can anyone say...prog metal? :D

JMetallica 12-30-2003 06:10 AM

watered down, drawn out thrash more like it :p

yeah... songs like and justice for all went for far too long. a good thrash song goes for like 5 minutes tops(battery, phantom lord).

(notable exceptions, but meh)
by the way, is Cunning Stunts good? I have Cliff em All and i think its great (besides the bad quality at some points).
cunning stunts is excellent and they play a good range of there stuff, very well produced and quite glossy so if ur into the raw production sound it might b a bit 2 polished but i think its excellent, and i got it (both discs) for £13 at hmv (in the uK)

kirk_wylde 12-30-2003 08:50 AM

I got cunning stunts as well (£13 too ) and yes its great good selection of songs overall

shadow_stalker 12-30-2003 09:09 AM

cunning stunts annoys me because i have to get up and change dvd to watch/listen to master of puppets but it is great

just out of interest how many metallica albums are there?

Coolidge 12-30-2003 09:10 AM

Cunning Stunts is great. The boys have a ton of energy. I still have to say that Live ****: Bing & Purge is my favorite.

And defkennedys...Cool AFI avatar.
just out of interest how many metallica albums are there?
depends if you include compilations like garage inc etc. if you include those, there are tons. but they have 8 studio albums

soundcheckxx 12-30-2003 11:28 AM

metallica said they are going to playing different songs on the next tour
what do you think they will play?

Jon 12-30-2003 02:15 PM

Motorbreath, because that kicked *** when they played it on the 20th. No Remorse would be nice, that hardly ever gets a mention...

and Dyer's Eve *wishes*

TheUnavoidable 12-30-2003 02:27 PM

Anyone heard the news on Frantic?

They apperently play with a different, and alot "thrasier" intro and have added a solo, too.

Jon 12-30-2003 03:16 PM

Indeed. They did. If it wasn't from St *****, it would pwn.

kirk_wylde 12-30-2003 03:55 PM

Yeah It seems theyve started rehashing quite alot of St. anger material eg.
St. anger- main riff moved around a bit and structure rearanged slightly
Frantic- more thrashy and has a short fast solo
Dirty window- again more thrasy and has a full blown 30/40 sec hammet solo

Thats all I know so far

xtreme_skatah 12-31-2003 04:47 AM

I've been reading heaps of stuff of Cunning Stunts here. What's on the DVD? Can someone tell me whats so special bout it.

kirk_wylde 12-31-2003 05:16 AM

Nothing overly special about cunning stunts. Its just the cheapest concert Dvd and the best produced

defkennedys 12-31-2003 06:24 AM

thanks, do u know where i can get live **** or do i have 2 order it cos i aint in any stores in town.

i stole the afi avatar of sum1 which is shameful but it was worth it,

new idea - whos every1s favourite, hanging from rope man or flaming dude from the destruction scene

Coolidge 12-31-2003 08:35 AM

You'd probably have to order it. I've seen it in a couple of Amazon Zshops. You can also get it from the Metallica shop.

I thought the hanging from rope guy was better.

6 or 4 srtrings?who cares 12-31-2003 10:07 AM

I dont think you could get live **** in stores. Most stores dont even carry any box sets. But online you get get it at any site with music.

minameismuddd 12-31-2003 12:03 PM

I got the Cunning Stunts DVD for like $15

Is the S&M DVD any good???

linkinpark1987 12-31-2003 02:04 PM

Yes the S&M DVD is good. I got my Live Sh*t:Binge and Purge at Best Buy and every time I go their they have one(the DVD version) and a video version which is in the big box.

timmccarty143 12-31-2003 06:24 PM

cunning stunts is great zildjandummer was over the other day and we watched it, one before the solo w/ landmine blew me away
and also during for whom the bell tolls a chinesse guy got on the stage somehow it was great!

Jon 01-01-2004 07:00 AM

So should I get Live **** as a DVD (with the crappy packaging) or as a VHS (and not be able to watch it as often)

RideTheSpiral 01-01-2004 07:01 AM

Um....

BUMP!

ThrashMaster27 01-02-2004 12:21 AM

Major Bumpage!

The Idiot Threads are coming back! Stop Them!

Oh yeah, I often wondered this aswell.....how come Dave Mustaine was credited for the writing of The Four Horsemen on Kill 'Em All, but neglected to leave the names of James and Lars from the creditation of Mechanix from Killing Is My Business.....

Perhaps because he played it slightly differently....I don't know.

Jon 01-02-2004 09:09 AM

Mustaine brought over The Mechanix from his previous band before Metallica.

bball_1523 01-02-2004 09:36 AM

did anybody catch the FOX New Years Metallica gig? I didn't get to watch it since I was out but I heard they played 'The Unnamed Feeling.'

Some fans at metallica's official board were complaining that they cut Metallica off half-way through their song but I'm guessing that's because of time constraints and plus The Unnamed Feelings i like 8 minutes long or something, so they showed 4 minutes of the song, compared to the other artists who performed on that show, it was fair.

RideTheSpiral 01-02-2004 11:24 PM
