Question is a decent song, but a weaker point on the album.

TheSubtleArts 08-05-2005 11:38 AM

i think its a good choice for a single and a good video.

Six Foot Revolver 08-05-2005 12:08 PM

Meh I reckon that Cigaro would be the perfect single if it had more... radio friendly lyrics. Maybe if they changed the lyrics and made it comical for the people who owned the album "My ____ is much bigger than yours".

The person who thinks up the most humorous word to go there gets imaginary rep :)

hey... nobody said that "cok" (i know its misspelled ok?) is another meaning for ur cok... y cant it just mean rooster. so i would say keep the "cok", if not then rooster is fine. "My rooster is much bigger than yours", and it would still keep its message out there lol.

its my favorite song on the album
The only STA song I like is I-E-A-I-A-I-O - that song is fvckin awesome
if you like that song, chances are there will be a few more you like.

Six Foot Revolver 08-05-2005 04:05 PM

I don't actually own Steal This Album but I have heard The Highway Song, Innervision and I-E-A-I-A-I-O. From these tracks it actually sounds like a brilliant album.

PepsiMetal 08-05-2005 06:34 PM

Question! video is not on soad's or columbia record's site as well.

http://blog.columbiarecords.com/system/news.html#question

It was a pretty good video, definetely better than BYOB. They should have done violent pornography or sad statue instead of Question! though.

Blizzink 08-05-2005 08:34 PM

It's right under the news section on the official website..

soad517 08-05-2005 10:06 PM

i wish i could watch it but my computer blows.. Question! i would say has some of the best lyrics on the cd. It's one of the few written by Serj alone.

Drugstep 08-06-2005 12:41 AM

It shows. It's one of the few that relies on a more poetic than quirky approach.

Knight Rider Anyone?

xrockerachickx 08-07-2005 11:29 AM

I would say, Question is by far one of their best videos...

does anyone know how daron gets his tone?

+zero+ 08-09-2005 11:23 PM

blackout 08-10-2005 05:37 AM

I'm up for it.

Me three :thumb:

Who knows what amp(s) Daron was using when he recorded Mesmerize? All the websites I'm finding at the moment are way out of date.

And did he actually use a Mode 4 to record anything, or was it just a live amp? I've fallen in love with his tone on everything after S/T, so i'm intrigued.

Agitator01 08-10-2005 06:22 PM

I thought soil were still going now though. Did they not make that song called Halo?

I actually liked I-E-A-I-A-I-O and thought the rest of the album sucked (well except for innervision which was okay but sounded like something recycled off the toxicity album).

ps. Soad has the worst lyrics of any rock group since Def Leppard.

Is that a joke?

Although they're not simple so not everyone will understand, but they have good lyrics if you get them. :thumb:

Not true at all. They're just a little abstract and silly and times.

I agree with you on STA, though. I like I-E-A-I-A-I-O, but hate the rest of the album.

Here's my album list (from best to worst):
S/T
Toxicity
Mezmerize
STA

1. It does sound like it's recycled because the entire album was. There all B-sides, songs that didn't make it onto S/T and Toxicity.

2. Wrong.

Kage 08-11-2005 04:33 PM

Then again, "They always send the poor! They always send the poor!" is pretty damned laughable.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-11-2005 04:40 PM

Well, I hate to dig into one of your favorite bands, but "I wanna penetrate you...I wanna fuck you like an animal" is also fairly laughable, but I know that Trent is a good lyricist because I've heard a few other songs. Listen to more of their stuff, and it becomes evident that they dont suck as bad as BYOB's lyrics. Granted, they aren't the most descriptive, but Serj is a better lyrical talent than most of the mainstream rockers out there.

Oooh...that hurt, man. :p

I've noticed that Serj is far better lyrically than Daron. Didn't Daron write a lot of the crappy lyrics on the new album?

EDIT: By the way, I used to be a huge fan of Toxicity and their S/T, so I have heard most of their material.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-11-2005 05:02 PM

People are under the misconception that Daron wrote most of the lyrics on Mezmerize, when really, he's always written bits and peices of their songs. Typically, Daron says that he writes the chorus, and Serj writes the verses and everything. But yes, Daron did do more lyrics, and the results aren't as satisfying.
Then again, "They always send the poor! They always send the poor!" is pretty damned laughable.
I thought it was one of the better lines on the album. Couldn't have been worse than, "Everybody ****s...Everybody sucks," or "My **** is much bigger than yours."
In general their lines have no meaning and are completely random, having nothing to do with the lines before. And some of their lyrics are just childish.
