Because of all these job interviews I've been having, I've actually shaved three times this week. :p

Jesus, what's the world coming to?

I even wore a suit to mine.

With a black t-shirt.

And sandals :(

I still have a 48hr wait before i can a. Get my foot wet and therefore have a shower instead of pissing around with a leg out of the bath and b. wear shoes :upset:

Aes820 07-29-2005 04:35 AM

I bet you looked very dapper in that little suit of yours.

What's wrong with your foot?

Trigger_003 07-29-2005 05:07 AM

Yeah, happy b'day man! You gonna party down or...?
/seconds Aes's question about your foot

Aes, is this at the same place you were talking about ($10grand more per year) a while ago, or another?

Aes820 07-29-2005 06:31 AM

Nah. It was a differnt place.
The pay will be about the same where I am now. But it looks like good fun and I am actually quite excited about it. The change will do me good.
They said they'll let me know on Monday.

Which of the many bands of yours in going to be playing at the fete gig?

moaner 07-29-2005 06:51 AM

I had 1/5 of the nail removed and the bed killed on monday to deal with a recurring ingrowing toenail.

Dapper? And little? I'm 5'11 and counting, i'll have you know...

Sweet as. What kind of work would you be expecting to do there? Basically the same?

Oh, sorry for not saying. That'd be Deprived of Sanity. Hopefully it'll get our singer a bit more motivated... if not, she's gone :(.

Urgh, doesn't sound like fun, Moaner.

KKKKKocaine 07-29-2005 06:57 PM

Do do do duh duh de dah.
Update
I'm bored and my meds are running out and I figure I need an excuse for exploding in a JS thread so I'll pretend I was coming to update you guys.

We finally got our drummer sorted, we brought in a temp for one gig and now we've got a permament drummer all fixed up. And just in time, we hit the studio in 4 days to record the debut album. We've lined up all the places to send off pre-release copies for review. We've got about 8 or so magazines and websites lined up for it, we intend to get some good reviews to put a better presskit together. We're keeping our eyes peeled for local labels.
Powerpop records have got their eyes on us and we're looking at a couple more small local labels.
I had to fill out a PRS form, which was annoying. But it was for the outdoor gig so that balances it out I guess.
We've only got three gigs in august and three in september, which is a bit of a let down, but we're just gonna concentrate on filling up october and november with some more dates.

We got the closest to a genre definition yet from a review by a local magazine,
'a kind of wired up nagging kind of metal I've never heard before'
Doesn't really roll off the tongue though.
We've got most of the album release stuff planned out, (apart from the actual release date) we're going to be getting some online UK distrobution. And we're trying to find some small US distro*
Oh and if any of you guys wanna play a UK alldayer in september next year, drop me a line and I'll drop in a good word for you with the organisers :P

But all in all, band stuff is going well, album on the way and lots of fun!
How are you guys all doing?

*In the way of websites where you send them 5 copies or so, they take about £2 of the price, you keep the rest.

Yeah. It'll be pretty much the same kind of work.

I've got about 5 or 6 songs that need learning before this gig on the 13th. The good thing is the majority of these songs are very easy. Just 2 lots of 4 cord progressions. "Verse Chorus Verse Bridge Chorus" kinds of songs. It should be a fun night.

But how about ho we're a band who've never played before, havent practised yet, I've never even met the bloke who'll be drummig for us, and we're going to be the headlining act for a local music festival in two weeks time. Ha!

Now we just have to get ourselves motivated.

moaner 07-30-2005 04:39 AM

Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little death.

OR, to put it another way- don't panic.

And the K:  you? metal?

Nah, in fairness, it sounds like you're doing pretty well for yourselves.

Trigger_003 07-30-2005 04:15 PM

Aes: Haha, sounds fun. When are you guys planning to practise?

I'm just going to grab a load of more recent/well known songs from the beginner's song list - even though they'll be a pain to play because of their simplicity (Al di Meola/Paco/Gisboni kinda stuff to... well, you know). At least we - better :amaze: - be able to master them (as a band) in the first few tries, then work on actual performance.
Btw, if anyone knows where a good tab/notation of Evermore's "It's Too Late" is (just the guitar part; I've worked out the others already, but I just can't get the guitar absolutely accurate)...

Nice to hear from you, K. 'a kind of wired up nagging kind of metal I've never heard before'... interesting description :).
Sounds like you guys are going alright... make sure you keep us posted, man :thumb:.

Powderfinger Rocks 07-30-2005 08:11 PM

Yea I hope we can get these 12 or so songs ready by november, despite singer being in Poland for 7 weeks with no internet :(
I wonder if the kids are gonna squirt us with water pistols? That'd be fun.

BTW, trea (or anybody else) go to www.bigad.com.au its a funny, yet cool beer ad + Carl Orff

You going to get on msn? Got some song suggestions for ya
EDIT: Never mind, going out.

Aes820 07-31-2005 06:50 PM

Good News...!!
I've got a new job!
That job interview i went for on Friday came up gold.

But, the position doesn't start until the 15th of August, maybe a few days sooner. So I may be having a couple of weeks off, a couple of weeks of being unemployed. :/
I may have to find myself something to keep me occupied between now and then.
But that's do-able.
I hope everyone is in as much of a good mood as what I am.

How did you know?! lol. actually in the paper (yes there was an article about the ad), it said it was Carmen Bur-something.

Congrats Chris! Maybe you could play guitar while you wait for your job to start? I know that's what SOMEONE I KNOW would do.

...trea.

Trigger_003 08-01-2005 02:53 AM

Just... possibly... :p

Well, we just sold our old MG Midget :'(. The restoration was getting a bit past our ability/what we wanted to pay to restore it, and we sold it to a mate so I guess it's okay.
If anyone here's a car finatic, I guess I'll post some pics (but I'm not allowed to be in them, heh)...?

/is going to see James Morrison and Bill Watrous tomorrow night... :).

moaner 08-02-2005 09:04 AM

W00t!

This is such incredibly good news!

Tesco have given me a temporary contract, the hours are a bit heavy (44 evenings a week 5-8, 12-4.30 sunday) but if i can keep it up for the 10 weeks of the contract i'll have £800 under my belt, and then i can either quit or sort out a new contract with more reasonable hours for me.

gaslight 08-02-2005 09:12 AM

44 evenings a week is pretty heavy :p.

Also, do you guys have any good sites with loops/samples for Cubase SX3?
