sum 41 =the bassic bassist thread
or the bassic bassist = sum 41 thread, that actually makes more sense but for goodness sake people, lets get some convos going, I can only hope that this thing stays open

who here has Make Sum Noize? I think it's their dvd live in Japan, not sure though

chops 06-17-2005 09:28 PM

i don't have it. what do you guys think of "some say" being the next single?
i think they could've had a better song, although it is still a good song.

bassist_for_a_band 06-17-2005 09:33 PM

I have Cross The T's and Gouge Your Eyes... It's pretty sweet, actually. I let my friend borrow it, and one day I asked for it back and he gave me the case. He said the DVD was around there somewhere. I'm still pissed I haven't gotten it back.

I want to get the Introduction To Destruction DVD, it sounds so kickass

chops 06-17-2005 09:36 PM

what was the dvd that came with dtli? because my friend got one when he bought it. when i bought it, i didnt get one. :(

yeah, with the unedited version it was Cross Your Ts and Gouge Your Eyes which was just a bunch of random video crap of them doing their thing. With the edited version it was them Live at the Astoria, it was a live show that was really short but really cool. Sucks that you didn't get one.

I think I'm sick and fucking tired of their slow songs getting nominated as singles, give me some No Reason dammit

I would have to agree that ITD sounds really cool, I want it really bad. If someone lost my Sum 41 DVD I'd kill him like a peanut in a butter churn (I don't know why I said that)

TheBassicBassist 06-18-2005 12:58 PM

So guys, I'm going to camp for a week starting tommorrow and ending on saturday, this thread had better be on the first page when I get back, y'all hears?

i agree, no reason would have been a good single. I know they would never have the bitter end as a single so that one is out of the question, but even open your eyes would have been a great single.

Spoiled Blood 06-20-2005 10:17 PM

Pieces is a good song, but then all the stupid girls who just watch MTV hear it and think 'OH MY GOD, I LOVE SUM 41!'

Then they'll download other Sum 41 songs, like The Bitter End, Open Your Eyes, Angels with dirty faces then think 'OH MY GOD, I HATE SUM 41!'

chops 06-20-2005 11:19 PM

wouldn't doubt it. does sum 41 get alot of air time on mtv? i dont get mtv where i live.

Tjebby 06-21-2005 07:23 AM

They do sometimes, I see them alot on MTV2, but not MTV. So its not like a lot of people watch it. Unless you get MTV2 free.

noreason88 06-24-2005 09:31 AM

sum 41 is my fav band and they need to relase a song like angels or no reason or open your eyes because pieces and some say are bad repreenataitons of the rest of the album. i dont watch mtv but on the radio station i listen to for rock were all to blame got minimal air time and that was prolly the best single of the 3 and 1 of the best of the album...if they wanted to sell out again wut was fine with me cuz idc but they coulda made another aknf album and not just release 2 of the 3 slowest songs from chuck. my view on chuck is also probably some wasted potential...and not enough guitar solos...

I went to this cabin once and that had stallite and The Fuse played Pieces every day about four times, other than that I don't know

try to use less initials for normal conversation, you can use it for album titles, and spell "prolly" as "Probably", I promise that the veterans will treat you more normal if you do

your views are close to correct, but I don't think that they had wasted potential so said, I think they did a great job

bassist_for_a_band 06-25-2005 10:47 PM

I know Fat Lip was on TRL... but i read about that in their bio or something, it mentioned them celebrating with pizza and pop...

i watch mtv and mtv2, and never see sum 41. i dont even see them at all on tv... it sucks.

lol yea, people would like pieces, but hear the GOOD songs like bitter end, welcome to hell, no reason, and were all to blame, and think sum 41 isn't that good... oh well, they're rock. but chuck is sweet.

i want to see another sum 41 concert... i hope they come back soon
and i hope my idiot friend returns my frickin dvd already... im like suffering from sum 41 withdrawal... and i want ITD...

obojon 06-27-2005 05:28 AM

going by their dvd Sake Bombs and Happy Endings, they have alot of energy and are a faily solid live band. In terms of backing vocals, i'd love to see some of their songs played closer to the CD versions (eg No Reason, Thanks For Nothing, Still Waiting...), i can't see why cone wouldn't love to really get into the songs and scream along with them like on the CDs. "THESE EYES have seen no conviction... JUST LIES and more contradiction..."

oh well. my one gripe is deryck's (sp?) voice, obviously you're not gonna be the same live as in the studio but man some songs he should really work on.

Ganondorf 06-27-2005 01:58 PM

Any of you guys feel you don't get the respect you deserve? Then join Gor'f Gangsters, and all that will change. Juts put Gorf's Gangsters in your user title and get ready to kick ass.

Oh, and just so some whiney loser dosen't complain, I'll try to kepp this post on topic.

Sum 41's song with Iggy Pop was ok, but got old quick. And the new video is pretty emo, but the song is ok.

Tjebby 06-27-2005 02:01 PM

They were a good live band... Had the crowd was bad though... just sat around. Except for about twenty people, where we moshed.

Bad Blood 06-27-2005 02:02 PM

yeah big up da gorf gangsters!

i havent heard the iggy pop and sum41 song. i might download it

I don't think that the audience for the show here was that big, but we packed a punch, and if they come back then I WILL BE THERE!!!

mmm, Sum 41ness.....

Half of our audience was my style and the other half was oposite of it all, but I'd say we left a good impression, Moshing is a new personall favorite hobby

TheBassicBassist 06-27-2005 08:29 PM

new password for french41.com's mediaclub is sum41goldmember, download all kinds of cool junk

himynameistweek 06-28-2005 01:20 AM

i hate moshing. tulsa's music scene is so full of hardcore kids that go to shows just to mosh, it's lame. i'd rather just enjoy the band.

The one where the singer is walking down the street, and the bass player is in that perfect family thingy.
