Anders wrote Gently. It might not be that they're good lyrics, just differen't because Corey didn't write it. Same goes for Scissors. Joey wrote scissors and I can kinda tell it wasn't Corey.
Scissors is such a great song, when they released welcome to our neighborhood on dvd. They put a live video of slipknot doing scissors in concert.

You've obviously never seen Linkin Park live
I do have to agree. Vol 3 done alot for mainstream metal, but that's what I can't stand. Seems like all the good bands, or at least the songs they make for mainstream are lacking. I mean... it's like the feeling is sucked out. I'm not saying their not good songs, or that their not composed correctly or any s**t like that. I just think they don't put what they 'feel' in it. Seems like some big wig producer steps in and hacks at their ****. Slipknot's first album is like so chaotic and blitzkrieg, and, to me, it seems like that's what they was wanting you think about them. They wanted you to associate Slipknot with mayhem. Now... it's like "who can bash their ****in brains out to circle or vermilion." NOT F**KIN ME! This is just my opinion...not trying to bash all the Vol 3 lovers.
That "big wig producer" that stepped in only lend them a studio and made weekly visits to check on their progress.I can assure you that Vol.3 was 100% Slipknot.Rick would give a suggestion, and let Slipknot run with it.Unlike Ross Robinson, who was in the studio with them the whole time "hacking at their shit".Mick had a long guitar solo on (sic) that we will never hear because of Ross.As well as some added technicallity in the songs that was cut out by him also.

It might depending on how much you've actually listened to Vol.3?The first time I listened to it, I thought it sounded unfocused, lackluster, and just thought it was pure rubbish. The more I listened to it the more I saw the big picture.I notice things in it now that I didnt catch before. The emotion for instance. Its like the dynamic of it is hidden subliminally. The only way to unlock it is by giving it repeated listens. One thing that I noticed recently is how well the music is in harmony with Corey's vocals.Vermilion is a good example of this.Listen to how well Corey's vocals feed off the guitar. Its almost like he's controlling the little changes with his words.I dont know, I was high when I noticed it.
Slipknot is by far better live than Korn.
Which could be why Korn ducked out of a tour with them in 2000.Or so I heard.

is slipknot good i really always hated them b/c or their image but maybe u guys can change my mind why is slipknot good?

willis2441 01-28-2005 09:12 PM

no offense to all you slipknot fans out there, i do like iowa and s/t but they have too many members in their band. i mean 3 percussionists? thats killin me. joey is a very good drummer, but the other two guys, they can stop playin and you wouldnt even notice, they ride they same thing they hit. thats not much talent. i like the scrather and the guitarists along w/ joey(very good drummer). its just to me, too many members. maybe their nice guys and let all their friend into the band because they felt sorry for them.

The reason behind all the drummers is because the idea behind Slipknot was to have a heavy band with a tribal kind of sound. THey accomplished it. Once you notice it, they sound pretty tribal because of all the drums.
and you know this how....?
it's just a dumb comment, the way it's phrased is basically LP is too mainstream thoughtless flaming.... especially since Linkin Park is known to be amazing live./

Kage 01-29-2005 01:20 AM

I guess some people just cannot hear music. Slipknot has a very percussive sound. While Joey lays down the beat and crashes the cymbols, etc., the other two precussionists add a very rythmic, lock-step percussive sound, and that's why they're there. On some songs they might not necessarily need that, but it sounds really good when they do.l

Huber 01-29-2005 01:35 AM

I haven't done this yet, and I'm really bored so here goes.

Top 20 Slipknot songs:

1. Purity(Live)*
2. (SiC)
3. The Blister Exists
4. The Virus of Life
5. The Heretic Anthem
6. Pulse of the Maggots
7. Spit It Out
8. Wait and Bleed
9. My Plague
10. Welcome
11. People = ****
12. Scream
13. Eeyore
14. Surfacing
15. Tattern and Torn (MFKR version)
16. Get This
17. Spit It Out (Hyper Tension)
18. Snap
19. New Abortion
20. No Life

*The live version of Purity is hands down the best Slipknot performance there is. Plus, it's better than the studio version. I have the vid. If I continue to be bored I'll upload it.

NnyTard 01-29-2005 06:16 AM

i'm sort of pissed off that although slipknot is doing the big day out in melb in a few days time, their side concert is 18+ i can't go to either of them.

wait and bleed and my plague are 2 of my fave songs by slipknot.

ExitSandman 01-29-2005 12:06 PM

How many guitarists does slipknot have? 2 or 3? Also which one of them is better. I know Mick with that warlock, and that other guy with ibanez I think. Also which one does the solos and which one does riffs, etc.

they have 2 guitarists. Mick used to play a warlock, but plays ibanez now, and the other is jim. both play guitar solos and kinda take turns on lead. mick does most guitar solos and faster parts so i guess you can call him lead.

Which one?The one on the Disasterpieces DVD?I thought that one was pretty good.

TheSubtleArts 01-29-2005 05:37 PM

yea i thought disasterpieses dvd was great. thats a good vid of purity. i liked the jump the **** up part in spit it out too.

relliK 01-29-2005 05:50 PM

Which reminds me, they have a new DVD coming out in June or something. Its not gonna be like Disasterpieces.Shawn said it's gonna give more of a indept look at the band.

TTTSNB 01-29-2005 06:03 PM

I think that SLipknot is a group of excellent musicians, but their not my style. However, I have a few songs I like of theirs, which include Spit it Out, any of their songs with blast beats, and Wait and Bleed.

GeeTarus 01-29-2005 07:17 PM

1. Pulse of the Maggots
2. Eyeless
3. Three Nil
4. Eeyore
5. Only One
6. Purity
7. The Blister Exists
8. Diluted
9. The Heretic Anthem
10. Me Inside
11. (sic)
12. People = ****
13. Spit It Out
14. Surfacing
15. Vermilion
16. Vermilion Pt. 2
17. Disasterpiece
18. New Abortion
19. Opium of the People
20. The Virus of Life

GeeTarus 01-29-2005 07:25 PM

Personally, i think all the members are extremely talented. Even though, Chris(3) and Shawn(6) may not be needed on percussion for some songs, they are good backing vocalists live.

The only one i would have to comment on would be Craig(5). I'm pretty sure he does contribute to the songs on the albums, but when you see the Disasterpieces DVD it doesn't look like he does anything. I'm not bashing Slipknot for this reason i'm just saying it would be cooler if you could notice his contributions in concert a lot more

SLIPKNOT RULES!!!

Well Craig used to play guitar for Slipknot before their self titled album came out.

They both play leads on the new album, kinda like trade-off slayer-type stuff.

They are both great guitar players, i havent seen Jim play enough stuff outside of slipknot to see how good his chops are though, mick ive seen that line6SpiderII video and i was pretty impressed.
