I just listened to The Grand Pecking Order, and I thought it was pretty good. It had some definite highlights, but it seemed to grow repetitive at times. The live stuff I've heard was tons better.

Just thought I'd tell you.

Yeah its ok.

I have some live in New Orleans which is great.
see i haven't really heard those so i don't know how big of a difference there is between those and california but i do know that they're really expiermental so who knows....* head spins*
california is tamer than the other two. self titled is immature and eclectic and odd. disco volante is weird as hell. california has actual songs that follow a structure and what not.

i wouldnt classify them as a jam band.

TheDMV 06-10-2005 04:31 PM

I've heard like one Oysterhead song. Claypool has so many side projects, I can't figure out if Primus is together or not.

Badmoon you really should check out blues fest downtown. :)

Everyone go to http://xmradio.com/, click "Listen Now," sign up for the 3 day trial, and tune in to Channel 51 for Bonnaroo, if you don't have XM Radio. Panic is playing now.

6Stringer 06-11-2005 07:37 PM

"Lola Leave Your Light On" - Govt Mule is on right now on XM Radio, channel 51.

I read on the Bonnaroo site that Panic was on now. I can't listen right now because my headphones won't work, so I don't know for sure.

Daniel! 06-11-2005 08:51 PM

I'm signing up right now.

Daniel! 06-11-2005 09:09 PM

Cooooool. Th Black Crowes are playing.

jpj 06-11-2005 10:47 PM

Right now on Channel 51 they're playing Gov't Mule at the 9:30 Club. Anyone know when or if Bonaroo will be on again?

I think Bonnaroo is on a rain delay. But don't take my word for it.

Wasn't yesterday the last day for it anyway?

Walrus Gumboot 06-13-2005 08:05 AM

Do any of you know any colleges that have a good Jam Band scene? I can only think of UVM

I downloaded Grand Pecking Order, listened to it once or twice, and didn't like it, so I deleted it. I may give it another chance eventually though.

No, but in Mason Town, WV (real close to Morgantown, home of WVU) they have The All Good Music Festival every year, which features many fantastic jam bands.

I wanted to go, but you know...mommy and daddy didn't like the whole in the woods for 3 days with hippies thing.

Badmoon 06-13-2005 12:26 PM

6Stringer, incase you hadn't seen it...

Whew..that Bonnaroo was pretty intense

robo2448 06-13-2005 05:36 PM

Did you go?
I read an article about it in the NY Times, it sounded awesome.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 06-13-2005 06:20 PM

Who all was there?

Walrus Gumboot 06-15-2005 12:13 PM

I really want to go to moedown. Has anyone been? Is it any good?

6Stringer 06-21-2005 03:36 PM

Bump. I think I might be going to moedown.

jpj 06-21-2005 04:53 PM

I wish I could drive so the odds of me seeing North Mississippi Allstar, Robert Randolph, and Dickey Betts would be greater.

6Stringer 06-23-2005 08:35 PM

Anyone in here like Xavier Rudd? I don't believe he counts as a jam band but meh this where I see his music fits into. Xavier Rudd does vocals and plays Weissenborn slide guitars, 6 & 12 string acoustic/electric guitars, didgeridoo, stomp box, harmonica, Aztec drum, slit durm, djembe, shakers, slide banjo and ankle bells. I just got back from his show and he is simply amazing I bought his latest CD Solace. I recommend that everyone check him out.

I've heard some of his live stuff and he's not really my type of music, but I can tell he's talented. I especially enjoyed when he started playing that African-sounding horn.

6Stringer 06-25-2005 05:18 PM

Why does no one post in here anymore? BSC looks good this year, I wish I could go.
Why does no one post in here anymore? BSC looks good this year, I wish I could go.
I got tickets for the Philly show. SCI, Keller, and Umphrey's! It's taking a chunk of my money though, 50 bucks with service charges.

Jam2Me 06-26-2005 05:40 PM

The venue BSC is playing at near me is unbelievably easy to sneak into...I don't wanna drop $40 on admission with all those little crafty tents to check out and t-shirts to buy. That'll be a great concert though..I'm a pretty big Xavier Rudd fan.
I'm gonna see G. Love & Special Sauce July 13th....$15 can't beat that, they're my favorite band anyways, I'd pay $50 if it cost that much.

I'll be seeing Matisyahu July 12th, if you don't know who he is check him out, I think he's going to tour with Trey soon or he already did.

Blues Traveler are playing a free concert on my town green the 23rd.

OAR is the 29th.

August 12 Bela Fleck Trio and MMW at the Newport JVC Jazz Festival.

Aug. 21st Allman Bros. with moe.

That's what I've got scheduled for the rest of the summer.

Badmoon 06-26-2005 05:50 PM
Blues Traveler are playing a free concert on my town green the 23rd.
Yea, they're playing one at Lincoln Park Zoo for free. At least I hear it's free; I could see going to it :)

Walrus Gumboot 06-26-2005 06:24 PM
.

Blues Traveler are playing a free concert on my town green the 23rd. Is it in New Haven?
That sounds cool, not far away, and free, perhaps I will go

PS- moe.down is looking better by the minute
