I fell in love with their latest album (most of it at least), particularly with the solo parts and the production...

Who's A7X?

Josh 04-25-2005 03:39 PM

avenged sevenfold...i don't think i've ever listened to them.
Who's A7X?
Avenged Sevenfold.

Anywho, what does everyone think of Kamelot's 'The Black Halo' album? I think it's a solid record, though it takes a little getting into.

EDIT: Whoa, I really like that new Avenged Sevenfold 'The Beast and the Harlot'. I never really dug the stuff they did before but holy ****, this is good!

Was Peter Pan in Mordor?...
no one's there to keep alive
no one's there to keep alive
all these fairy tales...
It's been ages since I last listened to IFTOS!

Yes. That whole album is a good chunk of metal.

I like how Hansi screams 'YEAHH!!' in the background at random points during that song.

Stoic 04-25-2005 04:30 PM

indeed :). He's awesome, I love him. I'll give the song a couple of listens before sleeping. Too much NIME lately (thorn 3 times in a row before sleeping) :p...

Btw, I read a bad review about NIME the other day
http://www.metalcovenant.com/pages/index.htm...

Goodnight!

Hitroshimite 04-25-2005 06:39 PM

Yes, I don't agree with that review. I find it funny that their problem with NIME was that they thought it had too much going on, and then they heap the praise on ANATO while ANATO was a lot more dense and layered.

Meh. They're both great albums.

I cant understand why I still havent found someone in here to share my passion for Slough Feg. Ι see that most of you are mostly fond of euro power metal (especially of the less aggressive-more melodic side of it) but the mighty Slough Feg are nothing like this.

I'm not sure whether you're familiar with them or not but I uploaded a track YOU OUGHT to download. It's not the most representative song, but certainly a REALLY catchy one, the first I liked off Twilight of the Idols and quite short (I'm a 56k user...)

/Downloading.

No one shares my love for Richard Anderson. I think he owns all.

Stoic 04-26-2005 03:37 PM

I like the bands he plays in. Wait, it was you who had once uploaded a Space Odyssey track, right? Cool stuff (especially the vocals)!

Arucard 04-26-2005 03:51 PM

Yeh. The guitar playing is like OMG!

Lord Abortion 04-27-2005 02:44 AM

buying blind gaurdian- live when I get paid...

should be good

Stoic 04-27-2005 03:33 PM

Save some more money and get the DVD instead. Am I the only one who doesnt like live albums?

:upset: (sudden realization)
/will never see BG live with their original line up

That album is excellent. You won't regret it.

May I ask why you don't like live albums?

Stoic 04-27-2005 03:45 PM

Mainly because of the poor sound quality. I'm quite demanding when it comes to production - especially in power and technical metal - and I'm fond of the crystal clear one (like Angra's latest). So, no matter how good the live recording is, the studio magic is lost

Sure it's cool when fans are singing along, the songs are played in a slightly different rawer (which is not always a good thing) way and the frontman talks to the crowd but I really see no point in live albums when there are DVDs.

Coooool...Irish power metal!

I actually burst out laughing when i heard this...its funny.

Bit too odd for my tastes, but i still have it on my ipod.

Stoic 04-27-2005 03:57 PM

amen! some feedback! Like I said it's not the most representative Slough Feg song but it's really adorable. Just listen to the lyrics!

i am the robots 04-27-2005 06:20 PM

wow, that Irish Power Metal was.... very odd yet brilliant.

The Dark Philosopher 04-27-2005 09:41 PM

Anybody here like Falconer?

Stoic 04-28-2005 03:04 AM

The Sceptre of Deception was ok I guess. I still havent heard anything off their latest one though

Lord Abortion 04-28-2005 03:20 AM

I like live albums- my love of alive in athens, maiden's live after death and metallica's live **** binge and burge, cannibal corpse- live cannibalism and mayhem live in liepzig is well documented on mx

I like Chapter From a Vale Folklorn. I think they have a new album coming out next week.

Yeh thats what I heard. Do you know what its name is?

Xspeeder 04-28-2005 12:19 PM
Anybody here like Falconer?
yes i listen to falconer. I have all their albums, including Grime Vs. Grandeur. Their vocalist has really done a great job on the new album. IM me if you want to listen to it.

Currently, my favorite power metal bands are: Angra, Insania, and Dragonland. Not many people have heard of them, but they are really great.

shadow_stalker 04-28-2005 12:34 PM

Anyone heard Sonata ARctica's cover of Fade to Black, its pretty good

Brew 04-28-2005 01:20 PM

I've downloaded songs from the Falconer website, my favourite song is The Coronation.

I'd get an album of theirs, but I can't seem to find one thats cheap, everywhere I've looked has them for about £15 each.

RiceMonster 04-28-2005 01:50 PM

I have to check out Falconer. What are they like?

Brew 04-28-2005 01:58 PM

Kinda average power metal, not too fast, not too slow. The lyrics are very typical of the genre and the singer has a pretty good voice.

Stoic 04-28-2005 02:14 PM

By saying average you mean in terms of speed or quality? If you're refering to quality, I disagree with you. They're pretty good, with superb and quite technical at times guitar work, although often overlooked. It's actually the kind power I mostly like (more aggressive but yet melodic).
